1 Então, respondeu Bildade, o suíta, dizendo: 2 "Até quando falarás tais coisas? Até quando serão as palavras da tua boca como vento impetuoso? 3 Pode Deus perverter o direito e o Todo Poderoso corromper a justiça?

1 Then Bildad the Shuhite answered and said, 2 "How long will you say these things? How long will the words of your mouth be a mighty wind? 3 Does God pervert justice? Does the Almighty pervert righteousness?

4 Teus filhos pecaram contra Ele; nós sabemos disso, pois Ele os entregou às suas transgressões. 5 Mas, se buscares diligentemente a Deus e apresentares ao Todo Poderoso a tua petição;

4 Your children have sinned against him; we know this, for he gave them into the hand of their sins. 5 But suppose you diligently sought God and sought the favor of the Almighty.

6 se o teu coração e tuas ações forem retas, Ele certamente te faria o bem, te recompensaria dando novamente tua família e te fazendo próspero. 7 Embora os teus planos iniciais fossem humildes, ainda tua condição final seria grandiosa.

6 If you are pure and upright, then he would surely stir himself on your behalf and restore you to your rightful place. 7 Even though your beginning was small, still your final condition would be much greater.

8 Por favor, pergunta às gerações passadas e considera o que os antepassados aprenderam! 9 Nós sabemos que nascemos ontem e que não sabemos nada pois nossos dias na terra são apenas sombra. 10 Eles não te ensinarão, nem te contarão? Eles não dirão palavras vindas dos seus corações?

8 Please ask the former generations, and give your attention to what our ancestors learned. 9 (We were only born yesterday and know nothing because our days on earth are a shadow.) 10 Will they not teach you and tell you? Will they not speak words from their hearts?

11 Pode o papiro crescer sem lodo ou o junco crescer sem água? 12 Estando ainda eles verdes, sem ter sido cortados, secam-se antes de qualquer outra planta.

11 Can papyrus grow without a marsh? Can reeds grow without water? 12 While they are still green and not cut down, they wither before any other plant.

13 São assim também os passos de todo que se esquece de Deus, a esperança do corrupto perecerá. 14 Sua confiança se desfará e sua segurança será frágil como uma teia de arranha. 15 Ele se apoia em sua casa, mas ela não permanecerá em pé; segura-se nela, mas ela não se sustentará.

13 So also are the paths of all who forget God; the hope of the godless will perish. 14 His confidence will break apart, and his trust is as weak as a spider's web. 15 He leans on his house, but it will not support him; he takes hold of it, but it does not stand.

16 Sob o sol, eles são verdes e seus ramos passam para além de todo o jardim; 17 suas raízes envolvem os montes de pedras e procuram bons lugares nas rochas. 18 Mas, se esta pessoa é destruida fora de seu lugar, então, aquele lugar irá negá-lo e dirá: 'nunca te vi'.

16 Under the sun he is green, and his shoots go out over his entire garden. 17 His roots are wrapped about the heaps of stone; they look for good places among the rocks. 18 But if this person is destroyed out of his place, then that place will deny him and say, 'I never saw you.'

19 Eis a "alegria" das pessoas com esses comportamentos; outras plantas brotarão em seu lugar no mesmo solo. 20 Deus nunca castigará um homem inocente, nem segurará pela mão o malfeitor.

19 See, this is the "joy" of such a person's behavior; other plants will sprout out of the same soil in his place. 20 See, God will not reject an innocent man; neither will he take the hand of evildoers.

21 Ele irá encher sua boca de risos e seus lábios de gritos de júbilo. 22 Aqueles que te odeiam se vestirão de vergonha e a tenda dos corrupto não mais existirá".

21 He will yet fill your mouth with laughter, your lips with shouting. 22 Those who hate you will be clothed with shame; the tent of the wicked will be no more."
