1 No princípio, criou Deus os céus e a terra. A terra era sem forma e vazia. 2 E havia escuridão sobre a face do abismo, e o Espírito de Deus se movia sobre a face das águas.

1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form and empty. Darkness was upon the surface of the deep. The Spirit of God was moving above the surface of the waters.

3 Disse Deus: "Haja luz". E houve luz. 4 E viu Deus que a luz era boa; então separou a luz da escuridão. 5 Deus chamou a luz dia e chamou a escuridão noite. Houve tarde e manhã, o primeiro dia.

3 God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 4 God saw the light, that it was good. He divided the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." This was evening and morning, the first day.

6 E disse Deus: "Que haja firmamento entre as águas, e haja separação entre águas e águas". 7 E fez Deus o firmamento, e separou as águas que estavam debaixo do firmamento das águas que estavam em cima do firmamento. E assim aconteceu. 8 E Deus chamou o firmamento de céus. Houve tarde e manhã, o segundo dia.

6 God said, "Let there be an expanse between the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters." 7 God made the expanse and divided the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse. It was so. 8 God called the expanse "sky." This was evening and morning, the second day.

9 E disse Deus: "Ajuntem-se as águas debaixo do céu, num só lugar, e apareça porção seca". E assim aconteceu. 10 Deus chamou a porção seca de terra, e ao ajuntamento das águas, de mares. E viu Deus que isso era bom.

9 God said, "Let the waters under the sky be gathered together to one place, and let the dry land appear." It was so. 10 God called the dry land "earth," and the gathered waters he called "seas." He saw that it was good.

11 E disse Deus: "Produza a terra vegetação, plantas que deem sementes e árvores frutíferas que deem frutos, conforme a sua espécie, cuja semente esteja no fruto". E assim aconteceu. 12 A terra produziu vegetação, plantas que davam semente, segundo a sua espécie, e árvores frutíferas cuja semente estava no seu fruto. E viu Deus que isso era bom. 13 Houve tarde e manhã, o terceiro dia.

11 God said, "Let the earth sprout vegetation: plants yielding seed and fruit trees bearing fruit whose seed is in the fruit, each according to its own kind." It was so. 12 The earth produced vegetation, plants producing seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit whose seed was in it, after their kind. God saw that it was good. 13 This was evening and morning, the third day.

14 Disse Deus: "Haja luzeiros no firmamento dos céus, para separar o dia da noite; e que sirvam como sinais para estações, dias e anos. 15 E sejam para luzeiros no firmamento dos céus para iluminar a terra". E assim aconteceu.

14 God said, "Let there be lights in the sky to divide the day from the night and let them be as signs, for seasons, for days and years. 15 Let them be lights in the sky to give light upon the earth." It was so.

16 Deus fez dois grandes luzeiros: o maior para governar o dia, e o menor para governar a noite. Também fez as estrelas. 17 Deus os colocou no firmamento dos céus para iluminar a terra, 18 para governar o dia e a noite, e separar a luz da escuridão. E viu Deus que isso era bom. 19 Houve tarde e manhã, o quarto dia.

16 God made the two great lights, the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. 17 God set them in the sky to give light upon the earth, 18 to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. God saw that it was good. 19 This was evening and morning, the fourth day.

20 Deus disse: "Que haja multidões de criaturas vivas nas águas, e que as aves voem por cima da terra, abaixo do firmamento dos céus". 21 Deus criou os grandes animais marinhos e todos os seres viventes que se movem e que povoam as águas, segundo as suas espécies; e todas as aves, segundo as suas espécieis. E Deus viu que isso era bom.

20 God said, "Let the waters be filled with great numbers of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the expanse of the sky." 21 God created the great sea creatures, as well as every living creature after its kind, creatures that move and which fill the waters everywhere, and every winged bird after its kind. God saw that it was good.

22 E Deus os abençoou, dizendo: "Sede frutíferos e multiplicai-vos, e enchei as águas dos mares. Que as aves multipliquem-se na terra". 23 Houve tarde e manhã, o quinto dia.

22 God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas. Let birds multiply on the earth." 23 This was evening and morning, the fifth day.

24 E disse Deus: "Que a terra produza seres viventes, cada um de acordo com sua própria espécie: animais domésticos, animais selvagens e os demais seres vivos da terra; cada um de acordo com a sua própria espécie. E assim aconteceu". 25 Deus fez os animais selvagens da terra, conforme a sua espécie, os animais domésticos, conforme a sua espécie, e os demais seres vivos da terra, conforme a sua espécie. Ele viu que isso era bom.

24 God said, "Let the earth produce living creatures, each according to its own kind, livestock, creeping things, and beasts of the earth, each according to its own kind." It was so. 25 God made the beasts of the earth after their kind, the livestock after their kinds, and everything that creeps upon the ground after its kind. He saw that it was good.

26 E disse Deus : "Façamos o homem à nossa imagem, conforme a nossa semelhança. Que ele exerça domínio sobre os peixes do mar, sobre as aves dos céus, sobre todos os animais domésticos, sobre toda a terra e sobre todos os seres vivos que rastejam sobre a terra". [Nota: Algumas cópias antigas trazem: "...sobre os animais domésticos, sobre todos os animais da terra, e sobre todos os répteis que rastejam sobre a terra."] 27 Criou Deus, pois, o homem a Sua imagem, à imagem de Deus o criou; macho e fêmea Deus os criou.

26 God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the sky, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." [[ Some ancient copies have: " ... Over the livestock, over all the animals of the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth " . ]] 27 God created man in his own image. In his own image he created him. Male and female he created them.

28 Deus os abençoou e lhes disse: "Sede frutíferos e multiplicai-vos, enchei a terra, e subjugai-a. Dominai sobre todos os peixes do mar, sobre as aves dos céus e sobre todo ser vivente que rasteja pela terra". 29 Deus disse: "Eis que vos tenho dado todas as plantas que dão semente que estão sobre a face de toda a terra, e todas as árvores que dão frutos com semente; elas vos servirão de alimento.

28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful, and multiply. Fill the earth, and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth." 29 God said, "See, I have given you every plant yielding seed which is upon the surface of all the earth, and every tree with fruit which has seed in it. They will be food to you.

30 Para todos os animais selvagens da terra, para todas as aves dos céus, para todos os seres vivos que rastejam pela terra, e para todas as criaturas que têm fôlego de vida, toda planta verde lhes será por alimento". E assim aconteceu. 31 E viu Deus tudo quanto fizera, e eis que isso era muito bom. Houve tarde e manhã, o sexto dia.

30 To every beast of the earth, to every bird of the heavens, and to everything that creeps upon the earth, and to every creature that has the breath of life I have given every green plant for food." It was so. 31 God saw everything that he had made. Behold, it was very good. This was evening and morning, the sixth day.
