1 EntãoJosé se lançou sobre o rosto de seu pai, chorou sobre ele e o beijou. 2 José ordenou a seus servos, os médicos, para embalsamar seu pai. Então os médicos embalsamaram Israel 3 Eles levaram quarenta dias, pois esse é o tempo completo para embalsamento. Os egípcios lamentaram por ele setenta dias.

1 Then Joseph was so distressed that he collapsed on the face of his father, and he wept over him, and he kissed him. 2 Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father. So the physicians embalmed Israel. 3 They took forty days, for that was the full time for embalming. The Egyptians wept for him seventy days.

4 Quando os dias de lamento acabaram, José falou para a corte real de Faraó, dizendo: "Se eu tenho achado graça aos teus olhos, por favor, dizei ao Faraó: 5 'Meu pai me fez jurar, dizendo: 'Vê, estou para morrer. Sepulta-me no túmulo que cavei para mim mesmo na terra de Canaã. Lá me sepultarás'. Agora, deixa-me subir e sepultar meu pai, e então retornarei'". 6 Faraó respondeu: "Vai e sepulta teu pai, como ele te fez jurar".

4 When the days of weeping were over, Joseph spoke to the house of Pharaoh, saying, "If now I have found favor in your eyes, please speak to Pharaoh, saying, 5 'My father made me swear, saying, "See, I am about to die. Bury me in my tomb that I dug for myself in the land of Canaan. There you will bury me." Now let me go up and bury my father, and then I will return.'" 6 Pharaoh answered, "Go and bury your father, as he made you swear."

7 José foi sepultar seu pai. Com ele, subiram todos os oficiais de Faraó, toda a corte de sua casa, e todas as autoridades da terra do Egito, 8 com toda a casa de José e seus irmãos, e a casa de seu pai. Mas eles deixaram suas crianças, seu rebanho de ovelhas, e seu rebanho de gados na terra de Gósen. 9 Foram também com ele carros e cavaleiros; era um grande grupo de pessoas.

7 Joseph went up to bury his father. All the officials of Pharaoh went with him—the elders of his household, all the senior officials of the land of Egypt, 8 with all Joseph's household and his brothers, and his father's household. But their children, their flocks, and their herds were left in the land of Goshen. 9 Chariots and horsemen also went with him. It was a very large group of people.

10 Quando eles chegaram à eira de Atade, do outro lado do rio Jordão, eles lamentaram com grande e intenso choro. Lá, José fez sete dias de lamento por seu pai. 11 Quando os habitantes da terra, os cananeus, viram a lamentação na eira de Atade, eles disseram: "Esta é uma ocasião muito triste para os egípcios". É por esta razão que o lugar é chamado Abel-Mizraim, e está além do Jordão.

10 When they came to the threshing floor of Atad on the other side of the Jordan, they mourned with very great and grievous sorrow. There Joseph made a seven-day mourning for his father. 11 When the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, "This is a very sad occasion for the Egyptians." That is why the place was called Abel Mizraim, which is beyond the Jordan.

12 Então seus filhos fizeram a Jacó como ele lhes havia instruído. 13 Carregaram-no até a terra de Canaã e o sepultaram na caverna, no campo de Macpela, perto de Manre. Abraão havia comprado a caverna com o campo para ser lugar de sepultura. Ele comprou de Efrom, o heteu. 14 Depois de sepultar seu pai, José retornou para o Egito, junto com seus irmãos, e todos aqueles que o acompanharam para o sepultamento de seu pai.

12 So his sons did for Jacob just as he had instructed them. 13 His sons carried him to the land of Canaan and buried him in the cave in the field of Machpelah, near Mamre. Abraham had bought the cave with the field for a burial place. He had bought it from Ephron the Hittite. 14 After he had buried his father, Joseph returned into Egypt, he, along with his brothers, and all who had accompanied him to bury his father.

15 Quando os irmãos de José viram que seu pai estava morto, disseram: "E se José tiver um rancor e quiser nos retribuir por todo o mal que lhe causamos?" 16 Então eles enviaram uma mensagem para José, dizendo: "Teu pai deu instruções antes de morrer, dizendo: 17 'Diz isto a José: Por favor, perdoa teus irmãos e o erro que eles cometeram quando te trataram mal. Agora, por favor, perdoa os servos do Deus de teu pai'". José chorou quando a mensagem chegou até ele.

15 When Joseph's brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, "What if Joseph holds on to anger against us and wants to repay us in full for all the evil we did to him?" 16 So they commanded the presence of Joseph, saying, "Your father gave instructions before he died, saying, 17 'Tell Joseph this, "Please forgive the transgression of your brothers and their sin when they did evil to you."' Now please forgive the servants of the God of your father." Joseph wept when they spoke to him.

18 Seus irmãos também prostaram-se diante dele e disseram: "Eis que nós somos teus servos" 19 E José lhes respondeu: "Não tenham medo. Por acaso estou no lugar de Deus? 20 É certo que vós planejastes contra mim, mas Deus o tornou em bem, para preservar a vida de muitas pessoas, como vedes hoje. 21 Então, agora, não tenham medo. Eu proverei para vós e vossos filhos." Ele lhes confortou e assim lhes falou gentilmente ao coração.

18 His brothers also went and lay facedown before him. They said, "See, we are your servants." 19 But Joseph answered them, "Do not be afraid. Am I in the place of God? 20 As for you, you meant to harm me, but God meant it for good, to preserve the lives of many people, as you see today. 21 So now do not be afraid. I will provide for you and your little children." He comforted them in this way and spoke kindly to their hearts.

22 José viveu no Egito junto com a família de seu pai. Ele viveu cento e dez anos. 23 José viu os filhos de Efraim até a terceira geração. Ele também viu os filhos de Maquir, filho de Manassés. Eles nasceram sobre os joelhos de José.

22 Joseph lived in Egypt, together with his father's family. He lived one hundred ten years. 23 Joseph saw Ephraim's children to the third generation. He also saw the children of Makir son of Manasseh, who were placed on the knees of Joseph.

24 José disse a seus irmãos: "Eu estou para morrer, mas Deus certamente virá até vós e vos fará subir desta terra para a terra que Ele jurou dar a Abraão, Isaque e Jacó". 25 Então José fez o povo de Israel jurar, dizendo: "Deus certamente vos visitará. Neste tempo carregareis meus ossos daqui." 26 Então José morreu aos cento e dez anos. Depois, eles o embalsamaram e o colocaram num caixão no Egito.

24 Joseph said to his brothers, "I am about to die; but God will surely come to you and lead you up out of this land to the land which he swore to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob." 25 Then Joseph made the sons of Israel swear an oath. He said, "God will surely come to you. At that time you must carry up my bones from here." 26 So Joseph died, 110 years old. They embalmed him and he was placed in a coffin in Egypt.
