1 Visão de Isaías, filho de Amoz, que teve a respeito de Judá e Jerusalém, nos dias de Uzias, Jotão, Acaz e Ezequias, reis de Judá.

1 The vision of Isaiah son of Amoz, that he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

2 Ouvi, ó céus, e escuta, ó terra, porque Yahweh disse: "Tenho nutrido e criado filhos, mas eles se rebelaram contra Mim. 3 O boi conhece o seu dono, e o jumento, o seu cocho, mas Israel não tem conhecimento, Israel não entende".

2 Hear, heavens, and give ear, earth; for Yahweh has spoken: "I have nourished and brought up children, but they have rebelled against me. 3 The ox knows his owner, and the donkey his master's feeding trough, but Israel does not know, Israel does not understand."

4 Ai da nação pecadora! Povo carregado de iniquidade, descendência de malfeitores, filhos que agem corruptamente! Eles abandonaram Yahweh, desprezaram o Santo de Israel e afastaram-se Dele.

4 Woe! Nation, sinners, a people weighed down with iniquity, offspring of evildoers, sons who act corruptly! They have abandoned Yahweh, they have despised the Holy One of Israel, they have estranged themselves from him.

5 Por que seríeis ainda castigados? Por que vos rebelais cada vez mais? A cabeça toda está doente, todo o coração está fraco. 6 Da sola do pé até a cabeça, não há parte sã, senão feridas, contusões e chagas abertas, que não foram limpas nem fechadas, nem atadas e tratadas com óleo.

5 Why are you still being beaten? Why do you rebel more and more? The whole head is sick, the whole heart is weak. 6 From the sole of the foot to the head there is no part unharmed; only wounds, and bruises, and fresh open wounds; they have not been closed, cleansed, bandaged, nor treated with oil.

7 Vosso país está arruinado, vossas cidades estão queimadas, vossos campos — em vossa presença, destruídos por estrangeiros — abandonados e devastados, tomados por estrangeiros. 8 A filha de Sião foi abandonada como uma cabana na vinha, como uma choupana no pepinal, como uma cidade sitiada.

7 Your country is ruined; your cities are burned; your fields—in your presence, strangers are destroying them— abandoned devastation, overthrown by strangers. 8 The daughter of Zion is left like a hut in a vineyard, like a shed in a garden of cucumbers, like a besieged city.

9 Se Yahweh dos Exércitos não nos tivesse deixado alguns remanescentes, seríamos como Sodoma, e semelhantes a Gomorra.

9 If Yahweh of hosts had not left for us a small remnant, we would have been like Sodom, we would have been like Gomorrah.

10 Ouvi a palavra de Yahweh, vós governantes de Sodoma; escutai a lei do vosso Deus, ó povo de Gomorra: 11 "O que são as multidões de sacrifícios para Mim?", diz Yahweh. "Eu estou farto dos sacrifícios de carneiro e da gordura de animais cevados; não Me agrado do sangue de bois, cordeiros ou bodes.

10 Hear the word of Yahweh, you rulers of Sodom; listen to the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah: 11 "What is the multitude of your sacrifices to me?" says Yahweh. "I have had enough of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fatted beasts; and in the blood of bulls, lambs, or goats I do not delight.

12 Quando viestes a Mim, quem vos pediu que pisásseis nos Meus átrios? 13 Não continueis a trazer sacrifícios inúteis; o incenso é abominação para Mim, vossas luas novas e assembleias de sábado. Eu não suporto vossas reuniões solenes, todas repletas de perversidade.

12 When you come to appear before me, who has required this of you, to trample my courts? 13 Bring no more meaningless offerings; incense is an abomination to me; your new moon and Sabbath assemblies—I cannot tolerate these wicked assemblies.

14 Eu odeio vossas luas novas e vossas festas solenes. Elas são um fardo para Mim; estou cansado de aturá-las! 15 Assim, quando levantardes vossas mãos em oração, esconderei Meus olhos de vós; mesmo que façais muitas orações, não as ouvirei, pois vossas mãos estão cheias de sangue.

14 I hate your new moons and your appointed feasts; they are a burden to me; I am tired of enduring them. 15 So when you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you; even though you offer many prayers, I will not listen; your hands are full of blood.

16 Lavai-vos e limpai-vos! Removei toda a maldade das vossas obras diante de Mim! Parai com a maldade; 17 aprendei a fazer o bem; buscai a justiça; acabai com a opressão; [No lugar de "acabai com a opressão" algumas versões têm: "ajudai o oprimido"] fazei justiça ao órfão; defendei a viúva.

16 Wash, cleanse yourselves; remove the evil of your deeds from my sight; stop being evil; 17 learn to do good; seek justice, make straight the oppression, [[ Instead of " make straight the oppression " , as some of the ancient Hebrew copies and other modern scholars who follow Isaiah 3:12 and 9:16, where this phrase may mean: " help the oppressed " . ]] give justice to the fatherless, defend the widow."

18 Vinde agora, e raciocinemos juntos" — diz Yahweh — "ainda que os vossos pecados sejam como o escarlate, eles se tornarão brancos como a neve; mesmo que eles sejam vermelhos como o carmesim, eles se tornarão como a branca lã.

18 "Come now, and let us reason together," says Yahweh; "though your sins are like scarlet, they will be white like snow; though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool.

19 Se estiverdes dispostos a obedecer, comereis o melhor da terra, 20 mas se recusardes e vos rebelardes, a espada vos devorará", pois a boca de Yahweh o disse.

19 If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good of the land, 20 but if you refuse and rebel, the sword will devour you," for the mouth of Yahweh has spoken it.

21 Como a cidade fiel se tornou prostituta! Ela — que era cheia de justiça, que era cheia de retidão — agora está cheia de assassinos. 22 Tua prata tornou-se impura, teu vinho misturou-se com água.

21 How the faithful city has become a prostitute! She who was full of justice—she was full of righteousness, but now she is full of murderers. 22 Your silver has become impure, your wine mixed with water.

23 Teus príncipes são rebeldes e companheiros de ladrões; todos amam subornos e correm atrás de recompensas. Não defendem os órfãos, nem a petição da viúva que chega diante deles.

23 Your princes are rebels and companions of thieves; everyone loves bribes and runs after payoffs. They do not defend the fatherless, nor does the widow's legal plea come before them.

24 Portanto, esta é a declaração do Senhor, Yahweh dos Exércitos, o Poderoso de Israel: "Ai deles! Buscarei vingança contra os Meus adversários. Sim, Eu Me vingarei dos Meus inimigos! 25 Voltarei Minha mão contra vós, purificarei vossa escória com potassa e tirarei todas as vossas impurezas.

24 Therefore this is the declaration of the Lord Yahweh of hosts, the Mighty One of Israel: "Woe to them! I will take vengeance against my adversaries, and avenge myself against my enemies; 25 I will turn my hand against you, refine away your dross as with lye, and take away all your dross.

26 Eu restaurarei vossos juízes como antes, e vossos conselheiros como no início; depois disso, sereis chamados de cidade de retidão, uma cidade fiel.

26 I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning; after that you will be called the city of righteousness, a faithful town."

27 Sião será redimida com justiça; e com retidão, os arrependidos. 28 Os rebeldes e pecadores serão esmagados juntos, e aqueles que abandonarem Yahweh também o serão.

27 Zion will be redeemed by justice, and her repentant ones by righteousness. 28 Rebels and sinners will be crushed together, and those who abandon Yahweh will be done away with.

29 Sereis envergonhados pelos carvalhos sagrados que desejastes e ficareis envergonhados pelos jardins que escolhestes. 30 Pois sereis como um carvalho que perde suas folhas, e como um jardim que não tem água.

29 "For you will be ashamed of the sacred oak trees that you desired, and you will be embarrassed by the gardens that you have chosen. 30 For you will be like an oak whose leaf fades, and like a garden that has no water.

31 O homem forte será como a estopa, e seu trabalho, como uma fagulha; ambos queimarão juntos, e ninguém apagará o fogo".

31 The strong man will be like tinder, and his work like a spark; they will both burn together, and no one will quench them."
