1 Ai da coroa majestosa usada pelos bêbados de Efraim, da flor desbotada da sua gloriosa beleza, que está sobre a cabeça do vale exuberante, dos que são dominados pelo vinho! 2 Eis que o Senhor envia alguém que é poderoso e forte; como chuva de granizo, e tempestade destruidora, como tempestade torrencial, Ele esmagará cada coroa no chão.

1 Woe to the proud garland crown that is worn by each of the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower of its glorious beauty, the garland that is set on the head of the lush Valley of those who are overcome with wine! 2 Behold, the Lord sends one who is mighty and strong; like a storm of hail and a destructive windstorm, like a driving rain and overflowing waters; and he will throw each garland crown down to the ground.

3 A coroa majestosa dos bêbados de Efraim será pisada. 4 A flor desbotada da sua gloriosa beleza, que está sobre a cabeça do rico vale, será como o primeiro figo maduro antes do verão: quando alguém o vê, enquanto ainda está em sua mão, ele o engole.

3 The proud garland of the drunkards of Ephraim will be trodden underfoot. 4 The fading flower of his glorious beauty, that is on the head of the rich valley, will be as the first ripe fig before the summer, that, when someone sees it, while it is yet in his hand, he gulps it down.

5 Naquele dia, Yahweh dos Exércitos Se tornará uma bela coroa e um diadema de beleza para o remanescente do Seu povo; 6 um espírito de justiça para aquele que está assentado para julgar e força para aqueles que fazem seus inimigos voltarem dos seus portões.

5 In that day Yahweh of hosts will become a beautiful crown and a diadem of beauty for the remainder of his people, 6 a spirit of justice for him who sits in judgment, and strength for those who turn back their enemies at their gates.

7 Mas mesmo estes cambaleiam com vinho e se desequilibram com bebida forte. O sacerdote e o profeta cambaleiam com bebida forte e são engolidos pelo vinho. Eles se desequilibram com a bebida forte, cambaleiam com a visão e erram nas decisões. 8 Verdadeiramente, todas as mesas estão cobertas com vômito, não havendo nenhum lugar limpo.

7 But even these reel with wine, and stagger with strong drink. The priest and the prophet reel with strong drink, and they are swallowed up by wine. They stagger with strong drink, staggering in vision and reeling in decision. 8 Truly, all tables are covered with vomit, so that there is no clean place.

9 A quem ele ensinará conhecimento e a quem explicará a mensagem? Para aqueles que foram desmamados ou àqueles que acabaram de ser retirados do peito? 10 Porque é mandamento em cima de mandamento, mandamento em cima de mandamento; regra em cima de regra, regra em cima de regra; um pouco aqui, um pouco lá.

9 To whom will he teach knowledge, and to whom will he explain the message? To those who are weaned from milk or to those just taken from the breasts? 10 For it is command upon command, command upon command; rule upon rule, rule upon rule; here a little, there a little.

11 De fato, Ele falará ao povo com lábios que gaguejam e em língua estrangeira. 12 No passado, Ele lhes disse: "Este é o descanso, dai descanso ao que está cansado; e nisto está o renovo", mas eles não deram ouvidos.

11 Indeed, with mocking lips and a foreign tongue he will speak to this people. 12 In the past he said to them "This is the rest, give rest to him who is weary; and this is the refreshing," but they would not listen.

13 Então, a palavra de Yahweh será para eles mandamento em cima de mandamento; mandamento em cima de mandamento; regra em cima de regra, regra em cima de regra; um pouco aqui, um pouco lá; para que possam ir e cair novamente, e sejam quebrados, laçados e capturados.

13 So the word of Yahweh will be to them command upon command, command upon command; rule upon rule, rule upon rule; here a little, there a little; so that they may go and fall backward, and be broken, ensnared, and captured.

14 Ouvi, pois, a palavra de Yahweh, vós que zombais, que governais esse povo em Jerusalém. 15 Tendes dito: "Fizemos uma aliança com a morte, e com o Sheol chegamos a um acordo. Então, quando o chicote avassalador passar, não nos atingirá. Porque fizemos da mentira nosso refúgio e nos escondemos na falsidade".

14 So listen to the word of Yahweh, you who mock, you who rule over this people who are in Jerusalem. 15 This will happen because you said, "We have made a covenant with death, and with Sheol we have reached an agreement. So when the overwhelming whip passes through, it will not reach us. For we have made a lie our refuge, and taken shelter in falsehood."

16 Portanto, o Senhor Yahweh diz: "Eu colocarei em Sião uma pedra fundamental, uma pedra já provada, pedra preciosa, uma fundação segura. Aquele que crê, não será envergonhado.

16 Therefore the Lord Yahweh says, "See, I will lay in Zion a foundation stone, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation. He who believes will not be ashamed.

17 Eu farei da justiça a vara de medir e, da retidão, o prumo. A Saraiva varrerá o refúgio das mentiras e as águas da inundação sufocarão o esconderijo.

17 I will make justice the measuring stick, and righteousness the plumbline. Hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, and the floodwaters will overwhelm the hiding place.

18 Vossa aliança com a morte será dissolvida, e vosso acordo com o Sheol não subsistirá. Quando a inundação furiosa passar, sereis engolidos por ela. 19 Sempre que ela passar, irá vos engolir, manhã após manhã, passará e, de dia e de noite, virá. Quando a mensagem for entendida, causará terror.

18 Your covenant with death will be dissolved, and your agreement with Sheol will not stand. When the raging flood passes through, you will be overwhelmed by it. 19 Whenever it passes through, it will overwhelm you, and morning by morning it will pass through and by day and night it will come. When the message is understood, it will cause terror.

20 Pois a cama é muito curta para um homem se esticar e o cobertor estreito demais para ele se enrolar". 21 Yahweh se levantará como no monte Perazim; Ele mostrará Sua ira como no vale de Gibeão, para fazer Sua obra, Sua obra estranha, e para executar a tarefa Dele, a estranha tarefa Dele.

20 For the bed is too short for a man to stretch out on, and the blanket too narrow for him to wrap himself in." 21 Yahweh will rise up as on Mount Perazim; he will rouse himself as in the Valley of Gibeon to do his work, his strange work, and perform his strange deed.

22 Agora, portanto, não zombeis, ou vossas amarras serão apertadas. Eu tenho ouvido do Senhor Yahweh dos Exércitos um decreto de destruição contra toda a terra.

22 Now therefore do not mock, or your bonds will be tightened. I have heard from the Lord Yahweh of hosts, a decree of destruction on the earth.

23 Escutai e dai ouvidos à minha voz; estai atentos e escutai as minhas palavras. 24 O fazendeiro que ara o dia todo para plantar, somente ara o solo? Ele, continuamente, cava e ara o campo?

23 Pay attention and listen to my voice; be attentive and listen to my words. 24 Does a farmer who plows all day to sow, only plow the ground? Does he continually break up and harrow the field?

25 Tendo ele preparado o solo, não espalha a semente de cominho, semeia o cominho, coloca o trigo nas eiras, a cevada no lugar certo e a espelta nas margens? 25 When he has prepared the ground, does he not scatter caraway seed, sow the cumin, put in the wheat in rows and the barley in the right place, and the spelt at its edges? In addition, other modern translations give different meaning to the expressions translated in the ULB as " in rows " and " in the right place " , because these expressions are uncertain in Hebrew. ]] 26 His God instructs him; he teaches him wisely.

27 Além disso, o cominho não é debulhado com instrumento de trilhar, nem rodas passam por cima do cominho, mas batem-se o endro e o cominho com a vara. 28 O grão é moído para o pão, mas não fino demais e, apesar de as rodas do seu carro e seus cavalos o espalharem, os cavalos não o trituram.

27 Moreover, the caraway seed is not threshed with a sledge, nor is a cartwheel rolled over the cumin; but caraway is beaten with a stick, and cumin with a rod. 28 Grain is ground for bread but not too finely, and though the wheels of his cart and his horses scatter it, his horses do not crush it.

29 Isto também vem de Yahweh dos Exércitos, que é maravilhoso em conselho e excelente em sabedoria.

29 This too comes from Yahweh of hosts, who gives wonderful counsel and whose sound wisdom is great.
