1 Ouvi-me, vós que procurais a retidão, vós que buscais Yahweh. Olhai para a rocha da qual fostes formados, para a pedreira de onde fostes extraídos.

1 Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness, you who seek Yahweh: look at the rock from which you were chiseled and to the quarry from which you were cut.

2 Olhai para Abraão, vosso pai, e para Sara, que vos deu à luz. Quando Eu o chamei, ele era um indivíduo solitário. Eu o abençoei e o fiz numeroso.

2 Look at Abraham, your father, and to Sarah, who bore you; for when he was a lone individual, I called him. I blessed him and made him many.

3 Sim, Yahweh consolará Sião; Ele confortará todos os seus lugares assolados; fará seu deserto como o Éden; sua região seca, ao lado do vale do rio Jordão, como o jardim de Yahweh. Alegria e contentamento serão encontrados nela, ações de graças e som de cânticos.

3 Yes, Yahweh will comfort Zion; he will comfort all her waste places; her wilderness he made like Eden, and her desert plains beside the Jordan River valley like the garden of Yahweh; joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving, and the sound of singing.

4 "Atentai a Mim, povo Meu; ouvi-Me, povo Meu! Pois emitirei um decreto e farei Minha justiça como luz para as nações. 5 Minha justiça está perto, Minha salvação chegará, Meu braço julgará as nações; as terras costeiras esperarão, ansiosamente, por Mim e pelo Meu braço.

4 "Be attentive to me, my people; and listen to me, my people! For I will issue a decree, and I will make my justice to be a light for the nations. 5 My righteousness is near; my salvation will go out, and my arm will judge the nations; the coastlands will wait for me; for my arm they will eagerly wait.

6 Elevai os vossos olhos para o céu e olhai para a terra embaixo. Os céus sumirão como a fumaça, a terra se desgastará como uma roupa, e seus habitantes morrerão como as moscas. Mas Minha salvação continuará para sempre e Minha justiça nunca falhará.

6 Lift up your eyes to the sky, and look at the earth beneath, for the heavens will vanish away like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment, and its inhabitants will die like flies. But my salvation will continue forever, and my righteousness will never stop working.

7 Ouvi-Me, vós que sabeis o que é correto, vós que tendes a Minha lei no coração. Não temais os insultos dos homens, nem desanimeis com a ofensa deles. 8 Porque a traça os devorará como a uma roupa e o verme os comerá como a lã; mas a Minha justiça será para sempre e Minha salvação, para todas as gerações".

7 Listen to me, you who know what is right, you people who have my law in your heart: Do not fear the insults of men, nor be disheartened by their abuse. 8 For the moth will eat them up like a garment, and the worm will eat them like wool; but my righteousness will be forever, and my salvation to all generations."

9 Desperta, desperta, veste-Te de força, braço de Yahweh! Desperta como nos dias antigos, como nas gerações passadas. Não foste Tu que despedaçaste Raabe, o monstro do mar, que perfuraste o dragão? 10 Não foste Tu que fizeste secar o mar, as águas do grande abismo, que fizeste das profundezas do mar um caminho para os redimidos atravessarem?

9 Awake, awake, clothe yourself with strength, arm of Yahweh. Awake as in the days of old, the generations of ancient times. Is it not you who crushed Rahab, you who pierced the monster? 10 Did you not dry up the sea, the waters of the great deep, and make the depths of the sea into a way for the redeemed to pass through?

11 Os remidos de Yahweh retornarão a Sião e entrarão nela com gritos de júbilo e a alegria eterna coroará suas cabeças; o regozijo e a alegria os alcançarão, a tristeza e o luto fugirão.

11 The ransomed of Yahweh will return and come to Zion with cries of joy and with gladness forever on their heads; and gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and mourning will flee away.

12 "Eu, Eu Sou Aquele que te conforta. Por que tens medo de um homem que morrerá, de filhos de homens, que são como a relva?

12 "I, I, am he who comforts you. Why are you afraid of men, who will die, the sons of mankind, who are made like grass?

13 Por que te esqueceste de Yahweh, teu Criador, que estendeu os céus e lançou as fundações da terra? Todo dia, tu estás em constante pavor por causa da fúria ardente do opressor quando ele decide te destruir. Onde está a fúria do opressor?

13 Why have you forgotten Yahweh your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth? You are in constant dread every day because of the hot fury of the oppressor when he decides to destroy. Where is the fury of the oppressor?

14 Quanto ao que está cativo, Yahweh se apressará para libertá-lo. Ele não morrerá e nem descerá à cova, nem lhe faltará o pão. 15 Pois Eu Sou Yahweh, teu Deus, que agita o mar de modo que suas ondas rujam — Yahweh dos Exércitos é o Seu nome.

14 The one who is bent down, Yahweh will hurry to release; he will not die and go down to the pit, nor will he lack bread. 15 For I am Yahweh your God, who churns up the sea so that its waves roar—Yahweh of hosts is his name.

16 Eu coloquei as Minhas palavras em tua boca e te cobri com a sombra da Minha mão; Eu estabeleci os céus, coloquei os alicerces da terra e disse a Sião: 'Tu és Meu povo'".

16 I have placed my words in your mouth, and I have covered you in the shadow of my hand, that I may plant the heavens, lay the foundations of the earth, and say to Zion, 'You are my people.'"

17 Desperta, desperta! Levanta-te, Jerusalém, que bebeste das mãos de Yahweh, da taça da Sua ira; que bebeste do cálice, até o resto da taça da embriaguez. 18 Não há, dentre os filhos que ela gerou, nenhum que a guie. De todos os filhos que ela criou, nenhum a toma pela mão.

17 Awake, awake, stand up, Jerusalem, you who have drunk out of the hand of Yahweh from the bowl of his anger; you who have drunk out of the bowl, down to the dregs from the cup of staggering. 18 There is no one among all the sons she has born to guide her; there is no one among all the sons that she has raised to take her by the hand.

19 Estes dois problemas te aconteceram; quem lamentará contigo? A desolação e a destruição, a fome e a espada. Quem te consolará? [O texto hebraico e algumas versões modernas têm "Como Eu te consolarei?", a maioria das versões modernas corrige esta passagem para "Quem te consolará?"] 20 Teus filhos desmaiaram; eles se deitam em cada esquina, como um antílope em uma rede; eles estão cheios da ira de Yahweh, da repreensão do teu Deus.

19 These two troubles happened to you—who will grieve with you?— desolation and destruction, and the famine and the sword. Who will comfort you? [[ The copies of the ancient Hebrew text and some modern translations have " How will I comfort you? " , most modern translations correct this passage to " Who will comfort you? " ]] 20 Your sons have fainted; they lie at every street corner, like an antelope in a net; they are filled with the anger of Yahweh, the rebuke of your God.

21 Agora, porém, ouve isto, tu que estás aflita e embriagada, mas não com vinho: 22 Assim diz o teu Senhor Yahweh, teu Deus, que defende a causa de Seu povo: "Vê, Eu tiro a taça da vertigem da tua mão — o cálice, que é a taça da Minha ira — para que não bebas dela novamente.

21 But now hear this, you oppressed one and drunken one, but not drunk with wine: 22 Your Lord Yahweh, your God, who pleads the cause of his people, says this, "See, I have taken the cup of staggering from your hand— the bowl, which is the cup of my anger—so that you will not drink it again.

23 Eu a colocarei nas mãos de teus atormentadores, aqueles que te disseram: 'Deita-te, para que caminhemos sobre ti'; os que fizeram de tuas costas como o chão e como rua, para que andassem por cima".

23 I will put it into the hand of your tormentors, those who have said to you, 'Lie down, that we may walk over you'; you made your back like the ground and like the street for them to walk on."
