1 Então, Zofar, o naamatita, respondeu: 2 "Os meus pensamentos me fazem responder rapidamente, por causa da minha preocupação. 3 Ouço uma repreensão que me ofende, mas um espírito que procede do meu entendimento me responde.

1 Then Zophar the Naamathite answered and said, 2 "My thoughts make me answer quickly because of the worry that is in me. 3 I hear a rebuke that dishonors me, but a spirit from my understanding answers me.

4 Tu não sabes que, desde tempos antigos, quando Deus colocou o homem na Terra, 5 o triunfo do corrupto é curto e a alegria do homem sem Deus permanence apenas por um instante?

4 Do you not know this fact from ancient times, when God placed man on earth: 5 the triumph of a wicked man is short, and the joy of a godless man lasts only for a moment?

6 Mesmo que a sua altura alcance os céus e a sua cabeça toque as nuvens, 7 tal pessoa perecerá permanentemente como suas próprias fezes; todos aqueles que o viram, dirão: 'Onde ele está?'.

6 Though his height reaches up to the heavens, and his head reaches to the clouds, 7 yet such a person will perish forever like his own dung; those who have seen him will say, 'Where is he?'

8 Ele voará como um sonho e não será encontrado; na verdade, será dissipado como a visão da noite. 9 Os olhos que o viram não o verão mais; mesmo o seu lugar não o verá mais.

8 He will fly away like a dream and will not be found; indeed, he will be chased away like a vision of the night. 9 The eye that saw him will see him no more; his place will see him no longer.

10 Seus filhos procurarão o favor dos pobres; e suas mãos terão que devolver sua riqueza. 11 Os seus ossos estão cheios do vigor da mocidade, mas esse vigor se deitará com ele no pó.

10 His children will apologize to poor people; his hands will have to give back his wealth. 11 His bones are full of youthful strength, but it will lie down with him in the dust.

12 Mesmo que a maldade seja doce na boca dele; mesmo que ele a esconda debaixo da língua, 13 segurando-a, sem deixá-la sair, mantendo-a em sua boca — 14 a comida se torna amarga em seu intestino; torna-se veneno de cobra dentro dele.

12 Although wickedness is sweet in his mouth, although he hides it under his tongue, 13 although he holds it there and does not let it go but keeps it still in his mouth— 14 the food in his intestines turns bitter; it becomes the poison of vipers inside him.

15 Ele engole riquezas, mas irá vomitá-las; Deus as expulsará de seu ventre. 16 Ele sugará o veneno das cobras e a língua da víbora o matará.

15 He swallows down riches, but he will vomit them up again; God will cast them out of his stomach. 16 He will suck the poison of asps; the viper's tongue will kill him.

17 Ele não viverá para desfrutar das correntes e dos rios de mel e manteiga. 18 Restituirá o fruto do seu trabalho e não poderá comê-lo; não desfrutará da riqueza que adquiriu com seu comércio. 19 Pois ele oprimiu e rejeitou os pobres; tomou violentamente casas que não construiu.

17 He will not enjoy the streams, the torrents of honey and butter. 18 He will give back the fruit of his labor and will not be able to swallow it; he will not enjoy the wealth earned by his commerce. 19 For he has oppressed and neglected poor people; he has violently taken away houses that he did not build.

20 Porque ele não experimentou nenhuma satisfação, ele não será capaz de guardar qualquer coisa que lhe proporcione prazer. 21 Nada sobrou que ele não tenha consumido. E, assim, sua prosperidade não permanecerá. 22 Na abundância de sua riqueza, cairá em dificuldade; a mão de cada um que está em pobreza virá sobre ele.

20 Because he has known no satisfaction in his belly, he will not be able to save anything in which he takes pleasure. 21 There is nothing left that he did not devour; therefore his prosperity will not be permanent. 22 In the fullness of his abundance he will fall into trouble; the hand of everyone who suffers will come against him.

23 Quando ele estiver enchendo seu estômago, Deus derramará a fúria da Sua ira sobre ele; como chuva, cairá sobre ele enquanto come. 24 Ainda que esse homem fuja da arma de ferro, um arco de bronze o atingirá. 25 A flecha penetrará as suas costas e emergirá; de fato, a ponta resplandecente sairá através do seu fígado. Terrores virão sobre ele.

23 When he is about to fill his stomach, God will throw the fierceness of his wrath on him; God will rain it down on him while he is eating. 24 Although that man will flee from the iron weapon, a bow of bronze will shoot him. 25 He pulls it out of his back and the gleaming point comes out of his liver. Terrors come over him.

26 Escuridão total está reservada para os seus tesouros; um fogo não abanado o consumirá e acabará com o que restou na sua tenda. 27 Os céus revelarão sua iniquidade e a Terra se levantará contra ele como testemunha.

26 Complete darkness is reserved for his treasures; a fire not fanned will devour him; it will consume what is left in his tent. 27 The heavens will reveal his iniquity, and the earth will rise up against him as a witness.

28 A riqueza da sua casa desaparecerá; os seus bens se derramarão no dia da ira do Senhor. 29 Esta é a recompensa de Deus para o homem corrupto, a herança que lhe foi reservada por Deus".

28 The wealth of his house will vanish; his goods will flow away on the day of God's wrath. 29 This is the wicked man's portion from God, the heritage reserved for him by God."
