1 Eliú continuou e disse: 2 "Permite-me que alongue o meu discurso e te mostrarei algumas coisas, pois tenho um pouco mais a dizer em defesa de Deus. 3 Adquirirei o meu conhecimento lá de longe; reconhecerei que justiça pertence ao meu Criador.

1 Elihu continued on and said, 2 "Be patient with me a little longer, and I will show you some things because I have a little more to say in defense of God. 3 I will obtain my knowledge from far off; I will acknowledge that righteousness belongs to my Maker.

4 Por isso, minhas palavras não serão falsas; alguém que é maduro em conhecimento está contigo. 5 Vê, Deus é grande e não despreza a ninguém; Ele é poderoso em entendimento.

4 For indeed, my words will not be false; someone who is mature in knowledge is with you. 5 See, God is mighty, and despises no one; he is mighty in strength of understanding.

6 Ele não preserva a vida de pessoas pecadoras; pelo contrário, faz o que é reto para aqueles que sofrem. 7 Ele não retira os Seus olhos das pessoas justas, mas assenta-os em tronos como reis para sempre; eles são exaltados.

6 He does not preserve the life of wicked people but instead does what is right for those who suffer. 7 He does not withdraw his eyes from righteous people but instead sets them on thrones like kings forever, and they are lifted up.

8 Se forem presos por correntes e amarrados em cordas de sofrimento, 9 então, Ele lhes revela o que fizeram, suas transgressões e seu orgulho.

8 If they are bound in chains and trapped in cords of suffering, 9 then he reveals to them what they have done, and their transgressions and their pride.

10 Ele também abre os ouvidos deles para as Suas instruções e os comanda para retornarem da iniquidade. 11 Se eles O ouvirem e O adorarem, passarão os seus dias em prosperidade e os seus anos em contentamento. 12 Porém, se eles não ouvirem, perecerão pela espada, morrerão porque não têm conhecimento.

10 He also opens their ears to his instruction, and commands them to turn back from iniquity. 11 If they listen to him and worship him, they will spend their days in prosperity, their years in contentment. 12 However, if they do not listen, they will perish by the sword; they will die because they have no knowledge.

13 Aqueles que são corruptos guardam sua ira no coração; não clamam por ajuda mesmo quando Deus os amarra. 14 Eles morrem em sua juventude; as suas vidas terminam entre os prostitutos de cultos.

13 Those who are godless in heart store up their anger; they do not cry out for help even when God ties them up. 14 They die in their youth; their lives end among the cultic prostitutes.

15 Deus resgata pessoas aflitas por meio de suas aflições; Ele abre os ouvidos delas por meio de suas opressões. 16 Por isso, Ele deseja tirar-te do desespero para um lugar amplo, onde não exista tribulação e onde a sua mesa será preparada com comida cheia de gorduras.

15 God rescues afflicted people by means of their afflictions; he opens their ears by means of their oppression. 16 Indeed, he would like to draw you out of distress into a broad place where there is no hardship and where your table would be set with food full of fatness.

17 Mas tu estás cheio de julgamento acerca de pessoas más; julgamento e justiça estão diante de ti. 18 Não permitas que a tua ira te seduza para a zombaria ou que a grandeza do resgate te atraia.

17 But you are full of judgment on wicked people; judgment and justice have laid hold of you. 18 Do not let your anger entice you to mockery, or the greatness of a ransom to turn you aside.

19 Pode a tua riqueza te beneficiar, de maneira que não te aches em desgraça ou pode toda a força do teu empenho te ajudar? 20 Não anseies pela noite para cometer pecado contra outros, quando as pessoas são tiradas das suas casas. 21 Sê cuidadoso para que não te voltes ao pecado, porque estás sendo testado através do sofrimento para que tu fiques distante do pecado.

19 Can your wealth benefit you, so that you will not be in distress, or can all the force of your strength help you? 20 Do not desire the night, to commit sin against others, when peoples are cut off in their place. 21 Be careful that you do not turn to wickedness because you are being tested by suffering so that you will stay away from sinning.

22 Vê, Deus é exaltado em Seu poder; quem é um mestre igual a Ele? 23 Quem alguma vez instruiu-Lhe acerca do Seu caminho? Quem pode dizer a Ele: 'Tu cometeste injustiça'? 24 Lembra-te de exaltar as obras Dele, sobre as quais as pessoas têm cantado.

22 See, God is exalted in his power; who is a teacher like him? 23 Who has ever instructed him about his way? Who can ever say to him, 'You have committed unrighteousness?' 24 Remember to praise his deeds, of which people have sung.

25 Todas as pessoas olharam para estas obras, mas vêm estas obras apenas de longe. 26 Vê, Deus é grande, mas nós não O entendemos bem; o número dos Seus anos é incalculável.

25 All people have looked on those deeds, but they see those deeds only from far away. 26 See, God is great, but we do not understand him well; the number of his years is incalculable.

27 Ele faz subir as gotas de água que Ele destila como chuva do Seu vapor; 28 gotas que as nuvens descarregam e gotejam em abundância sobre a raça humana. 29 De fato, poderá alguém entender a extensa propagação das nuvens e dos relâmpagos da Sua habitação?

27 For he draws up the drops of water that he distills as rain from his vapor, [[ Some modern translations have " that distill as rain from his vapor " . ]] 28 which the clouds pour down and drop in abundance on mankind. 29 Indeed, can anyone understand the extensive spread of the clouds and the thunder from his hut?

30 Vê, Ele espalha o Seu relâmpago em volta Dele e cobre os fundamentos do oceano. 31 Desta maneira, Ele julga as pessoas e dá comida em abundância.

30 See, he spreads his lightning around him and covers the roots of the sea. 31 In this way he judges the peoples and gives food in abundance.

32 Ele segura em Suas mãos o relâmpago até que ordena a atingir os seus alvos. 33 Seu trovão avisa sobre a tempestade e o gado também pode ouvir que ela se aproxima.

32 He fills his hands with the lightning until he commands it to strike its mark. 33 Its thunder warns of the storm, the cattle can also hear it is coming.
