1 Posteriormente, Eliú continuou, dizendo: 2 "Pensas que é justo dizer: 'Meu direito perante Deus'? 3 Pois perguntas: 'Qual utilidade isso tem para mim?' e 'Eu estaria melhor se tivesse pecado?'.

1 Moreover Elihu continued, saying, 2 "Do you think this is just when you say, 'I am in the right before God'? 3 For you ask, 'What use is it to me?' and, 'Would I be better off if I had sinned?'

4 Eu vos responderei, a ti e aos teus amigos. 5 Olhai para os céus e vede; eis que as núvens estão muitos mais altas que vós.

4 I will answer you, both you and your friends. 5 Look up at the sky, and see it; see the sky, which is higher than you.

6 Se tu pecares, que mal tu fazes a Deus? Se as tuas transgressões se amontoam, que fazes a Ele? 7 Se és justo, que podes dar a Ele? Que receberá Ele da tua mão? 8 A tua maldade só pode ferir um homem, já que tu és homem; e a a tua justiça só pode favorecer a outro filho de um homem.

6 If you have sinned, what harm do you do to God? If your transgressions are many, what do you do to him? 7 If you are righteous, what can you give to him? What will he receive from your hand? 8 Your wickedness may hurt a man, as you are a man, and your righteousness might benefit another son of man.

9 Por causa de muitos atos de opressão, pessoas lamentam; elas clamam por socorro dos braços de homens poderosos. 10 Mas ninguém diz: 'Onde está Deus, meu Criador, que nos dá canções à noite, 11 que nos ensina mais que às feras do campo e que nos faz mais sábios que os pássaros dos céus?'.

9 Because of many acts of oppression, people cry out; they call for help from the arms of mighty men. 10 But no one says, 'Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night, 11 who teaches us more than he teaches the wild animals of the earth, and who makes us wiser than the birds of the sky?'

12 Ali eles lamentam, mas Deus não responde por causa do orgulho do homem mau. 13 Deus certamente não ouvirá um clamor insensato, o Todo Poderoso não prestará atenção a isso. 14 Quanto menos Ele lhe responderá se disseres que não O vê, que o teu caso está diante Dele e que estás esperando por Ele!

12 There they cry out, but God gives no answer because of the pride of evil men. 13 God will certainly not hear a foolish cry; the Almighty will pay no attention to it. 14 How much less will he answer you if you say that you do not see him, that your case is before him, and that you are waiting for him!

15 Quanto menos Ele te responderá se disseres que Ele nunca pune a ninguém com ira e que Ele não está muito preocupado com o orgulho das pessoas. 16 Então, Jó abre a sua boca apenas para falar tolice, ele amontoa palavras sem entendimento".

15 Now you say that his anger does not punish, and he does not take even a litte notice of transgression. 16 So Job opens his mouth only to speak foolishness; he multiplies words without knowledge."
