1 Então vi, saindo do mar, uma besta que tinha dez chifres e sete cabeças. Nos seus chifres, dez coroas, e, em cada cabeça, um nome de blasfêmia. 2 A besta que vi era como leopardo, mas tinha pés como os de urso, e sua boca era como de leão. O dragão deu-lhe o seu poder, seu trono e sua grande autoridade para governar.

1 Then I saw a beast coming up out of the sea. It had ten horns and seven heads. On its horns were ten crowns, and on each of its heads was a blasphemous name. 2 This beast I saw was like a leopard. Its feet were like a bear's feet, and its mouth was like a lion's mouth. The dragon gave it his power, his throne, and his great authority to rule.

3 Uma das cabeças da besta parecia ter sofrido um ferimento mortal, mas a ferida foi curada. E toda a terra maravilhou-se e seguiu a besta. 4 E adoraram o dragão, pois havia dado autoridade à besta. E adorou a besta, dizendo: "Quem é semelhante à besta?" e "Quem pode lutar contra ela?"

3 One of the beast's heads to have a fatal wound, but that fatal wound had been healed. The whole earth marveled as they followed the beast. 4 They also worshiped the dragon, for he had given his authority to the beast. They worshiped the beast, too, and kept saying, "Who is like the beast?" and "Who can fight against it?"

5 Foi dada à besta uma boca que poderia falar palavras orgulhosas e blasfêmias. Foi-lhe permitido exercer autoridade por quarenta e dois meses. 6 E abriu a sua boca para falar blasfêmias contra Deus: contra o Seu nome, contra o lugar em que Ele vive e contra aqueles que habitam no céu.

5 The beast was given a mouth that could speak proud words and blasphemies. It was permitted to exercise authority for forty-two months. 6 So the beast opened its mouth to speak blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his tabernacle, those who live in heaven.

7 Foi permitido à besta guerrear contra os santos e conquistá-los. E foi-lhe dada autoridade sobre toda tribo, povo, língua e nação. 8 Adoraram-na todos os que habitam sobre a terra, cujos nomes não estão escritos no Livro da Vida que pertence ao Cordeiro, o qual foi morto.

7 The beast was permitted to wage war with God's holy people and to conquer them. Also, authority was given to it over every tribe, people, language, and nation. 8 All who live on the earth will worship it, everyone whose name was not written in the Book of Life, which belongs to the Lamb who had been slaughtered from the foundation of the world.

9 Se alguém tem ouvidos, ouça. 10 Se alguém for levado ao cativeiro, ao cativeiro irá. Se alguém for morto à espada, com espada será morto. Eis aqui um chamado à perseverança e à fé para os santos.

9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear. 10 If anyone is to be taken into captivity,2 into captivity he will go. If anyone is to be killed with the sword,2 with the sword he will be killed.\m Here is a call for the patient endurance and faith of God's holy people.

11 Então vi outra besta saindo da terra, a qual tinha dois chifres como um cordeiro, e falava como um dragão. 12 Exercia toda a autoridade da primeira besta na sua presença e fazia com que a terra e seus habitantes adorassem a primeira besta, cuja ferida mortal havia sido curada.

11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth. He had two horns like a lamb, and it spoke like a dragon. 12 He exercised all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and he made the earth and those who live on it worship the first beast—the one whose lethal wound had been healed.

13 E realizava poderosos milagres, chegando a fazer descer fogo do céu à terra, diante das pessoas. 14 Por causa dos sinais que lhe foram permitido fazer, ela enganava os que viviam na terra, dizendo-lhes para fazer uma imagem em honra à besta que havia sido ferida pela espada, mas que voltou à vida.

13 He performed mighty miracles. He even made fire come down on the earth from heaven in front of people. 14 By the signs he was given power on behalf of the beast, he deceived those who live on the earth, telling them to set up an image for the beast—who was wounded by the sword, but he still lived.

15 Foi-lhe dada permissão para dar fôlego à imagem da besta, para que a imagem pudesse falar e causar a morte a todos os que não adorassem a besta. 16 Ela forçou a todos, pequenos e grandes, ricos e pobres, livres e escravos, a receber uma marca na mão direita ou na testa, 17 para que ninguém possa comprar ou vender, exceto aquele que tenha tal marca, que é o número do nome dela.

15 He was permitted to give breath to the beast's image so that the image would even speak and cause all who refused to worship the beast to be killed. 16 He also forced everyone, unimportant and mighty, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on the right hand or on the forehead. 17 It was impossible for anyone to buy or sell unless he had the mark of the beast, that is, the number representing its name.

18 Aqui há sabedoria. Aquele que tem entendimento calcule o número da besta, pois é o número do ser humano, e o seu número é seiscentos e sessenta e seis.

18 This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast. For it is the number of a human being. His number is 666.
