1 Durante os dias de Acaz, filho de Jotão, filho de Uzias, rei de Judá, aconteceu que Rezim, rei da Síria, e Peca, filho de Remalias, rei de Israel, subiram a Jerusalém para atacá-la, mas não conseguiram prevalecer contra ela. 2 Foi relatado à casa de Davi que a Síria era aliada de Efraim. O seu coração e o coração do seu povo agitaram-se, como as árvores do bosque se agitam com o vento. 1 During the days of Ahaz son of Jotham son of Uzziah, king of Judah, Rezin the king of Aram, and Pekah son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up to Jerusalem to war against it, but they could not prevail against it. 2 It was reported to the house of David that Aram was allied with Ephraim. His heart trembled, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest shake in the wind. [[ Instead of " that Aram was allied with Ephraim " , some scholars translate the Hebrew to read: " that Aram had camped in Ephraim " . ]]

3 Então, Yahweh disse a Isaías: "Sai com o teu filho Sear-Jasube para te encontrares com Acaz, no final do canal do tanque superior, no caminho do campo do Lavandeiro. 4 Dize-lhe: Sê cuidadoso e acalma-te. Não temas nem te intimides por causa desses dois pedaços de lenha fumegantes; nem pela ira ardente de Rezim e da Síria, nem por Peca, filho de Remalias.

3 Then Yahweh said to Isaiah, "Go out with your son Shear-Jashub to meet Ahaz at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, on the road to Launderer's Field. 4 Tell him, 'Be careful, remain calm, do not be afraid or intimidated by these two smoldering firebrands, by the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram, and of Pekah son of Remaliah.

5 A Síria, Efraim e o filho de Remalias têm planejado o mal contra ti, dizendo: 6 'Vamos atacar e aterrorizar Judá; vamos conquistá-la e fazer reinar sobre ela o nosso rei, o filho de Tabeel'.

5 Aram, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah have planned evil against you; they have said, 6 "Let us attack Judah and terrify her, and let us break into her and set up our king there, the son of Tabeel."

7 O Senhor Yahweh diz: Isso não sucederá, jamais acontecerá, 8 pois a capital da Síria é Damasco e o cabeça de Damasco é Rezim. Dentro de sessenta e cinco anos, Efraim será destruída e deixará de ser povo. 9 A capital de Efraim é Samaria, e o cabeça de Samaria é o filho de Remalias. Se não persistirdes na fé, certamente, não permanecereis seguros”.

7 The Lord Yahweh says, "It will not take place; it will not happen, 8 because the head of Aram is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin. Within sixty-five years, Ephraim will be shattered and will no longer be a people. 9 The head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah's son. If you do not remain firm in faith, surely you will not remain secure."'"

10 O Senhor falou novamente a Acaz [Nota: Em vez de “o Senhor falou”, em muitas versões está “Yahweh falou”], dizendo: 11 "Pede um sinal a Yahweh, teu Deus; um sinal que seja nas profundezas ou nas alturas". 12 Porém, Acaz respondeu: "Não pedirei, nem porei Yahweh à prova".

10 Then Yahweh spoke again to Ahaz, 11 "Ask a sign of Yahweh your God; ask for it in the depths or in the height above." 12 But Ahaz said, "I will not ask, nor will I test Yahweh."

13 Então, Isaías respondeu: "Ouvi, ó casa de Davi. Não vos é o bastante que testeis a paciência das pessoas? Deveis ainda testar a paciência do meu Deus? 14 Portanto, o próprio Senhor vos dará um sinal: eis que a virgem conceberá e dará à luz um filho, e ele será chamado Emanuel. 15 Ele comerá coalhada e mel até que saiba recusar o mal e escolher o bem.

13 So Isaiah replied, "Listen, house of David. Is it not enough for you people to test the patience of people? Must you also test the patience of my God? 14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you people a sign: See, the young woman will conceive, bear a son, and will call his name Immanuel. 15 He will eat curds and honey when he knows to refuse the evil and choose the good.

16 Pois antes que a criança saiba recusar o mal e escolher o bem, a terra desses dois reis, a quem temes, será desolada. 17 Yahweh trará sobre ti, sobre o teu povo e sobre a casa do teu pai, dias como nunca houve, desde que Efraim se separou de Judá — Ele vos trará o rei da Assíria".

16 For before the child knows to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land whose two kings you dread will be desolate. 17 Yahweh will bring on you, on your people, and on your father's house days unlike any since Ephraim seceded from Judah—he will bring on you the king of Assyria."

18 Naquele tempo, Yahweh assobiará às moscas das extremidades dos rios do Egito e às abelhas da terra da Assíria. 19 Elas virão e pousarão nos desfiladeiros, dentro das fendas das rochas, sobre os arbustos espinhosos, em todas as pastagens.

18 At that time Yahweh will whistle for a fly from the distant streams of Egypt, and for a bee from the land of Assyria. 19 They will all come and settle down into all the gorges, into the clefts of the rocks, on all the thornbushes, and onto all the pastures.

20 Naquele tempo, o Senhor usará uma navalha que foi alugada para além do rio Eufrates — que é o rei da Assíria — para raspar a cabeça, assim como os pelos das pernas e também removerá a barba. 21 Naquele dia, um homem criará uma novilha e duas ovelhas, 22 e, por causa da abundância de leite, ele comerá coalhada, pois todo aquele que restar na terra comerá coalhada e mel.

20 At that time the Lord will shave with a razor that was hired beyond the Euphrates River—the king of Assyria— the head and the hair of the legs; it will also sweep away the beard. 21 On that day, a man will keep alive a young cow and two sheep, 22 and because of the abundance of milk they give, he will eat curds, for everyone left in the land will eat curds and honey.

23 Naquele tempo, onde havia mil vinhas no valor de mil siclos de prata, não haverá nada além de sarças e espinhos. 24 Os homens entrarão ali para caçar com arco e flecha, pois toda aquela terra será sarças e espinhos. 25 Eles permanecerão distantes de todas as colinas que antes cultivavam com a enxada, por medo das sarças e dos espinhos; mas ali será lugar onde os bois e as ovelhas pastarão.

23 At that time, where there were a thousand vines worth a thousand silver shekels, there will be nothing but briers and thorns. 24 Men will go there to hunt with bows, because all the land will be briers and thorns. 25 They will stay away from all the hills that were cultivated with the hoe, for fear of the briers and thorns; but it will be a place where cattle and sheep graze.
