1 Declaração acerca do deserto que fica junto ao mar. Como tempestades de vento varrendo o Neguebe, ele vem do deserto, de uma terra horrível. 2 Foi-me dada uma terrível visão: o homem traidor continua traindo e o destruidor destrói. Sobe e ataca, ó Elão; sitia, ó Média; Eu cessarei todo o seu gemido.

1 A declaration about the desert by the sea. Like stormwinds sweeping through the Negev it comes passing through from the wilderness, from a terrible land. 2 A distressing vision has been given to me: the treacherous man deals treacherously, and the destroyer destroys. Go up and attack, Elam; besiege, Media; I will stop all her groaning.

3 Por isso, meus lombos estão cheios de dores; dores como de uma mulher na hora do parto se apoderaram de mim; fiquei abatido pelo que ouvi e estou transtornado pelo que vi. 4 Meu coração se agita; o horror me apavora; a noite que eu desejava se tornou terror para mim.

3 Therefore my loins are filled with pain; pains like the pains of a woman in labor have taken hold of me; I am bowed down by what I heard; I am disturbed by what I saw. 4 My heart pounds; I shake with fear. Twilight was my desire, but it brought me terror.

5 Eles preparam a mesa, estendem os tapetes, comem e bebem; levantai-vos, príncipes, e ungi vossos escudos com óleo.

5 They prepare the table, they spread rugs and eat and drink; arise, princes, anoint your shields with oil.

6 Pois isto é o que o Senhor me disse: "Vai, coloca uma sentinela, que deve relatar o que vir. 7 Quando esse vigia vir uma carruagem, um par de cavaleiros, pessoas montadas em jumentos e camelos, então, ele ficará atento e muito alerta".

6 For this is what the Lord said to me, "Go, post a watchman; he must report what he sees. 7 When he sees a chariot, a pair of horsemen, riders on donkeys, and riders on camels, then he must pay attention and be very alert."

8 Então, gritou a sentinela: "Senhor, na torre de vigia, eu fico o dia todo, todos os dias, e permaneço no meu posto durante a noite toda". 9 Aí vem uma carruagem com um homem e um par de cavaleiros. Ele exclama: "Caiu! A Babilônia caiu! E todas as imagens esculpidas de seus deuses estão quebradas no chão!"

8 The watchman cries out, [[ Instead of " The watchman cries out " which is attested by ancient Hebrew copies, but there are some ancient Hebrew copies that have " A lion cries out " . The second reading, " lion " , appears to be a misspelling of the Hebrew for " watchman " . ]] "Lord, on the watchtower I stand all day, every day, and at my post I stand all night long." 9 Here comes a chariot with a man and a pair of horsemen. He calls out, "Babylon has fallen, fallen, and all the carved figures of its gods are broken to the ground."

10 Ó meu povo, debulhado e peneirado, filhos da minha eira! O que eu ouvi de Yahweh dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel, isso eu vos declarei.

10 My threshed and winnowed ones, children of my threshing floor! What I have heard from Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, I have declared to you.

11 Declaração acerca de Dumá. Alguém de Seir me chama: "Sentinela, o que resta da noite? Sentinela, o que resta da noite?". 12 A sentinela disse: "A manhã vem e também a noite. Se quiseres perguntar, então, volta e pergunta novamente".

11 A declaration about Dumah. One calls to me from Seir, "Watchman, what is left of the night? Watchman, what is left of the night?" 12 The watchman said, "The morning comes and also the night. If you want to ask, then ask; and come back again."

13 Uma declaração acerca da Arábia. No deserto da Arábia passais a noite, vós, caravanas de dedanitas. 14 Trazei água para os sedentos, ó habitantes da terra de Tema, encontrai os fugitivos com pão. 15 Pois eles fugiram da espada, da espada desembainhada, do arco armado e da pressão da guerra.

13 A declaration about Arabia. In the wilderness of Arabia you spend the night, you caravans of Dedanites. 14 Bring water for the thirsty; inhabitants of the land of Tema, meet the fugitives with bread. 15 For they have fled from the sword, from the drawn sword, from the bent bow, and from the weight of war.

16 Pois isto é o que o Senhor me disse: "Dentro de um ano, como o ano de um trabalhador assalariado, toda a glória de Quedar despedaçará. 17 Restarão apenas poucos flecheiros, os valentes de Quedar", pois Yahweh, o Deus de Israel, assim falou.

16 For this is what the Lord said to me, "Within a year, as a laborer hired for a year would see it, all the glory of Kedar will end. 17 Only a few of the archers, the warriors of Kedar will remain," for Yahweh, the God of Israel, has spoken.
