1 Yahweh terá compaixão de Jacó; Ele escolherá Israel novamente e o restaurará à sua própria terra. Estrangeiros se unirão a eles e se tornarão parte da casa de Jacó. 2 As nações os trarão ao seu próprio lugar. Então, a casa de Israel os possuirá como servos e servas na terra de Yahweh. Eles tornarão cativos aqueles que os haviam capturado, e reinarão sobre os seus opressores.

1 Yahweh will have compassion on Jacob; he will again choose Israel and restore them into their own land. Foreigners will join with them and attach themselves to the house of Jacob. 2 The nations will bring them to their own place. Then the house of Israel will take them in the land of Yahweh as male and female servants. They will take captive those who had captured them, and they will rule over their oppressors.

3 No dia em que Yahweh te der descanso do teu sofrimento e angústia, e do árduo trabalho que te obrigaram a executar, 4 tu cantarás esta canção de insulto contra o rei da Babilônia: "Como o opressor chegou ao fim; a fúria arrogante terminou! [Nota: Em vez de “a fúria arrogante terminou”, algumas versões têm “a cidade dourada terminou”, “a agitação terminou” ou “a arrogância terminou”]

3 On the day that Yahweh gives you rest from your suffering and anguish, and from the hard labor which you were required to perform, 4 you will sing this taunt song against the king of Babylon, "How the oppressor has come to an end, the proud fury ended! [[ Because the Hebrew translated as " proud fury ended " is very difficult, other modern scholars and translations have tried other meanings such as: " the golden city ended " , " the turmoil ended " , " the hostility ended " , or " the arrogance ended " , and others. ]]

5 Yahweh quebrou a vara da maldade, o cetro daqueles governantes, 6 que, furiosos, feriram as pessoas com golpes incessantes e, com raiva, reinavam sobre as nações, com um ataque desenfreado.

5 Yahweh has broken the staff of the wicked, the scepter of those rulers, 6 that struck the peoples in wrath with unceasing blows, that ruled the nations in anger, with an attack that was unrestrained.

7 Toda a terra descansa e está quieta; todos começam a celebrar com canções. 8 Até as árvores de cipreste e os cedros do Líbano se alegram sobre ti; eles exclamam: 'Desde que caíste, nenhum lenhador sobe aqui para nos cortar'. 9 O Sheol abaixo está ávido para te encontrar quando fores para lá. Despertou, por tua causa, os mortos que foram reis da terra, e fez levantar dos seus tronos todos os que haviam sido reis das nações.

7 The whole earth is at rest and is quiet; they begin celebrating with singing. 8 Even the cypress trees rejoice over you with the cedars of Lebanon; they say, 'Since you are laid low, no woodcutter comes up to cut us down.' 9 Sheol below is eager to meet you when you go there. It arouses the dead for you, all the kings of the earth, making them rise up from their thrones, all the kings of the nations.

10 Todos eles falarão, dizendo: 'Tu estás fraco como nós. Tu te tornaste como nós. 11 Tua grandiosidade foi lançada para o Sheol com o som dos teus instrumentos de cordas. Larvas estão espalhadas abaixo de ti, e vermes te cobrem'.

10 They all will speak and say to you, 'You have become as weak as us. You have become like us. 11 Your pomp has been brought down to Sheol with the sound of your lutes. Maggots are spread under you, and worms cover you.'

12 Como tu caíste do céu, estrela da alva, filho da manhã! Como foste lançado por terra, tu que conquistaste as nações! 13 Disseste em teu coração: 'Eu subirei aos céus, exaltarei meu trono acima das estrelas de Deus e me assentarei no monte da assembleia, nas distâncias longínquas do norte. 14 Subirei acima das alturas das nuvens; eu farei a mim mesmo semelhante ao Deus Altíssimo'.

12 How you are fallen from heaven, daystar, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you who conquered the nations! 13 You had said in your heart, 'I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God, and I will sit on the mount of assembly, in the far reaches of the north. 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High God.'

15 Todavia, tu descerás ao Sheol, para a profundidade do abismo. 16 Aqueles que te virem te contemplarão e prestarão atenção em ti. Eles dirão: 'É este o homem que fez a terra tremer, que abalou os reinos, 17 que fez do mundo um deserto, que derrubou as suas cidades e não deixou os prisioneiros voltarem para as suas casas?'.

15 Yet you are now brought down to Sheol, to the depths of the pit. 16 Those who see you will gaze at you and they will pay attention to you. They will say, 'Is this the man who made the earth tremble, who shook kingdoms, 17 who made the world like a wilderness, who overthrew its cities and did not let his prisoners go home?'

18 Todos os reis das nações, todos eles, deitam em honra, cada um na sua própria tumba. 19 Mas tu foste expulso da tua sepultura como um galho jogado fora. Os mortos te cobrem como uma veste, os perfurados pela espada, que descem às pedras do abismo. Tu foste como um cadáver pisoteado. 20 Tu não te juntarás a eles no túmulo, porque destruíste a própria terra e mataste o teu próprio povo. Os filhos dos malfeitores nunca serão mencionados novamente".

18 All the kings of the nations, all of them lie down in honor, each one in his own tomb. 19 But you are cast out of your grave like a branch thrown away. The dead cover you like a garment, those pierced by the sword, who go down to the stones of the pit. 20 You will not join them in burial, because you have destroyed your land and killed your people. The offspring of evildoers will never be mentioned again."

21 Preparai um massacre para os filhos dele! Pela iniquidade dos seus ancestrais, que eles não se levantem para possuir a terra, para encher o mundo com cidades. 22 "Eu Me levantarei contra eles" — esta é a declaração de Yahweh dos Exércitos. 21 Prepare your slaughter for his children, for the iniquity of their ancestors, so they will not rise up and possess the earth and fill the whole world with cities. 22 "I will rise up against them"—this is the declaration of Yahweh of hosts. "I will cut off from Babylon name, descendant, and posterity"—this is Yahweh's declaration. 23 "I will also make her into a possession of owls, and into pools of water, and I will sweep her with the broom of destruction"—this is the declaration of Yahweh of hosts.

24 Yahweh dos Exércitos jurou: "Certamente, como Eu planejei, acontecerá; como Eu propus, assim será: 25 Eu quebrarei o assírio em Minha terra e, sobre Minhas montanhas, o esmagarei debaixo dos Meus pés. Então, o seu jugo será levado para longe do Meu povo, a sua carga, para longe dos seus ombros".

24 Yahweh of hosts has sworn, "Surely, as I have intended, so it will come about; and as I have purposed, so it will be: 25 I will break the Assyrian in my land, and on my mountains trample him underfoot. Then his yoke will be lifted from off them and his burden from off their shoulder." Then his yoke will be lifted from off them and his burden from off their shoulder."

26 Este é o plano que está determinado para toda a terra, e esta é a mão levantada sobre todas as nações. 27 Pois Yahweh dos Exércitos planejou isto. Quem poderá impedi-Lo? Sua mão está levantada. Quem a fará recuar?

26 This is the plan that is intended for the whole earth, and this is the hand that is raised over all the nations. 27 For Yahweh of hosts has planned this; who will stop him? His hand is raised, and who will turn it back?

28 Esta declaração veio no ano em que o rei Acaz morreu: 29 "Não te alegres, Filístia, porque a vara que te batia foi quebrada. Pois da raiz da serpente crescerá uma víbora, e o seu fruto será uma serpente voadora. 30 Os primogênitos dos pobres vão alimentar suas ovelhas no Meu pasto, e os necessitados se deitarão seguros. Eu matarei de fome a tua raiz e isso aniquilará teus sobreviventes.

28 In the year that king Ahaz died this declaration came: 29 Do not rejoice, all you Philistines, that the rod that struck you is broken. For out of the serpent's root will grow out an adder, and his offspring will be a fiery flying serpent. 30 The firstborn of the poor will graze their sheep in my pastures, and the needy will lie down in safety. I will kill your root with famine that will put to death all your survivors.

31 Lamenta, portão; chora, cidade; todos vós estareis derretidos, Filístia; pois vem do norte uma nuvem de fumaça, e não há desertores em suas fileiras. 32 Que resposta será dada aos mensageiros daquela nação? Dizei-lhes que Yahweh estabeleceu Sião, e nela os aflitos de Seu povo encontrarão refúgio.

31 Howl, gate; cry, city; all of you will melt away, Philistia. For out of the north comes a cloud of smoke, and there is no straggler in his ranks. 32 How will they respond to the messengers of that nation? "Yahweh has founded Zion, and in her the afflicted of his people will find refuge."
