1 Abraão tomou outra mulher; seu nome era Quetura. 2 Ela deu à luz Zinrã, Jocsã, Medã, Midiã, Isbaque e Suá. 3 Jocsã tornou-se pai de Seba e Dedã. Os povos Assurim, Letusim e Leumim eram descendentes de Dedã. 4 Os filhos de Midiã foram Efá, Efer, Hanoque, Abidá e Eldá. Todos esses eram descendentes de Quetura.

1 Abraham took another wife; her name was Keturah. 2 She bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah. 3 Jokshan became the father of Sheba and Dedan. The descendants of Dedan were the Assyrian people, the Letush people, and the Leum people. 4 Midian's sons were Ephah, Epher, Hanok, Abida, and Eldaah. All these were Keturah's descendants.

5 Abraão deu tudo o que possuía a Isaque. 6 No entanto, enquanto era vivo, deu presentes aos filhos de suas concubinas e enviou-lhes para a terra ao leste, distante de Isaque, seu filho.

5 Abraham gave all that he owned to Isaac. 6 However, while he was still living, he gave gifts to the sons of his concubines and sent them to the land of the east, away from Isaac, his son.

7 Estes são os dias dos anos da vida de Abraão: cento e setenta e cinco anos. 8 Abraão expirou e morreu em boa velhice, idoso com uma vida plena, e foi reunido ao seu povo.

7 These were the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived, 175 years. 8 Abraham breathed his last and died at a good old age, an old man with a full life, and he was gathered to his people.

9 Isaque e Ismael, seus filhos, enterraram-no na caverna de Macpela, no campo de Efrom, filho de Zoar, o heteu, perto de Manre. 10 Abraão havia comprado esse campo dos filhos dos heteus. Ele fora enterrado juntamente com Sara, sua esposa. 11 Logo após sua morte, Deus abençoou Isaque, seu filho, e Isaque viveu perto de Beer-Laai-Roi.

9 Isaac and Ishmael, his sons, buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron son of Zohar the Hittite, which is near Mamre. 10 This field Abraham had bought from the sons of Heth. Abraham was buried there with Sarah his wife. 11 After the death of Abraham, God blessed Isaac his son, and Isaac lived near Beer Lahai Roi.

12 Estes são os descendentes de Ismael, filho de Abraão, o qual Agar, a egípcia, serva de Sara, concedeu a Abraão.

12 Now these were the descendants of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's servant, bore to Abraham.

13 Estes foram os nomes dos filhos de Ismael, de acordo com a ordem de nascimento: Nebaiote, o primogênito de Ismael, Quedar, Abdeel, Mibsão, 14 Misma, Dumá, Massá, 15 Hadade, Tema, Jetur, Nafis e Quedemá. 16 Esses foram os filhos de Ismael e seus nomes, dados às suas vilas e aos seus acampamentos; doze chefes conforme suas tribos.

13 These were the names of Ishmael's sons, according to their birth order: Nebaioth—the firstborn of Ishmael, Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam, 14 Mishma, Dumah, Massa, 15 Hadad, Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah. 16 These were Ishmael's sons, and these were their names, by their villages, and by their encampments; twelve princes according to their tribes.

17 Estes são os anos de vida de Ismael: cento e trinta e sete anos. Ele expirou e morreu, e foi reunido ao seu povo. 18 Eles habitaram desde Havilá até Sur, perto do Egito, como quem vai em direção à Assíria. Eles viviam em hostilidade um com o outro.

17 These were the years of the life of Ishmael, 137 years. He breathed his last and died, and was gathered to his people. 18 They lived from Havilah to Ashhur, which is near Egypt, as one goes toward Assyria. They lived in hostility with each other.

19 Estes são os eventos relacionados a Isaque, filho de Abraão. Abraão tornou-se pai de Isaque, 20 e este tinha quarenta anos quando tomou por mulher Rebeca, filha de Betuel, o arameu de Padã-arã, e irmã de Labão, o arameu.

19 These were the events concerning Isaac, Abraham's son. Abraham became the father of Isaac. 20 Isaac was forty years old when he took as his wife Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel the Aramean of Paddan Aram, the sister of Laban the Aramean.

21 Isaque orou a Yahweh por sua esposa, pois era estéril, e Yahweh ouviu suas orações, e Rebeca, sua esposa, engravidou. 22 Os filhos lutavam dentro dela, e ela disse: "Por que isso está acontecendo comigo?" E foi consultar a Yahweh.

21 Isaac prayed to Yahweh for his wife because she was childless, and Yahweh answered his prayer, and Rebekah his wife conceived. 22 The children struggled together within her, and she said, "Why is this happening to me?" She went to ask Yahweh about this.

23 Yahweh disse-lhe: "Há duas nações em teu útero, e dois povos serão separados de teu ventre. Um povo será mais forte que o outro, e o mais velho servirá o mais novo".

23 Yahweh said to her, "Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples will be separated from within you. One people will be stronger than the other, and the older will serve the younger."

24 Quando chegou o tempo de dar à luz, havia gêmeos em seu ventre. 25 O primeiro que saiu era todo ruivo e peludo, como uma vestimenta de pelos. E o chamaram de Esaú. 26 Logo em seguida, veio seu irmão, cuja mão segurava o calcanhar de Esaú. E lhe deram o nome de Jacó. Isaque tinha sessenta anos quando sua esposa os deu à luz.

24 When it was time for her to give birth, behold, there were twins in her womb. 25 The first child came out red all over like a hairy garment. They called his name Esau. 26 After that, his brother came out. His hand was grasping Esau's heel. He was called Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when his wife bore them.

27 Os meninos cresceram, e Esaú tornou-se um caçador habilidoso, um homem do campo; porém Jacó era um homem calmo que passava seu tempo nas tendas. 28 Isaque amava Esaú, pois ele comia os animais que seu filho caçava, já Rebeca amava Jacó.

27 The boys grew up, and Esau became a skillful hunter, a man of the field; but Jacob was a quiet man, who spent his time in the tents. 28 Now Isaac loved Esau because he ate the animals that he had hunted, but Rebekah loved Jacob.

29 Certa vez, Jacó havia feito um ensopado, quando Esaú chegou do campo, fraco de fome. 30 Então Esaú disse a Jacó: "Dá-me desse ensopado vermelho, por favor. Estou faminto!". Por isso, ele foi chamado Edom.

29 Jacob cooked some stew. Esau came in from the field, and he was weak from hunger. 30 Esau said to Jacob, "Feed me with that red stew. Please, I am exhausted!" That is why his name was called Edom.

31 Jacó disse: "Primeiro, vende-me o teu direito de primogenitura". 32 Esaú respondeu: "Estou prestes a morrer. De que me serviria o direito da primogenitura?". 33 E Jacó retomou: "Jura-me primeiro". Então Esaú fez um juramento e, desse modo, vendeu-lhe seu direito de primogenitura. 34 Jacó deu pão e o ensopado de lentilhas a seu irmão. Ele comeu e bebeu, então levantou-se e seguiu o seu caminho. Assim, Esaú desprezou o seu direito de primogenitura.

31 Jacob said, "First sell me your birthright." 32 Esau said, "Look, I am about to die. What good is the birthright to me?" 33 Jacob said, "First swear to me," so Esau swore an oath and in that way he sold his birthright to Jacob. 34 Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils. He ate and drank, then got up and went on his way. In this manner Esau despised his birthright.
