1 Aconteceu que, depois dessas coisas, Deus provou Abraão e disse: "Abraão!" Ele respondeu: "Aqui estou". 2 E disse Deus: "Toma teu filho, teu único filho, a quem amas, Isaque, e vai para a terra de Moriá; e oferece-o ali em holocausto, sobre uma das montanhas que Eu te mostrarei". 3 E Abraão levantou-se cedo pela manhã, selou seu jumento, tomou dois de seus jovens com ele, juntamente com Isaque, seu filho, e cortou a madeira para o holocausto. Então partiu em seu jumento para o lugar que Deus havia falado.

1 It came about after these things that God tested Abraham. He said to him, "Abraham!" Abraham said, "Here I am." 2 Then God said, "Take your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah. Offer him there as a burnt offering upon one of the mountains there, which I will tell you about." 3 So Abraham rose early in the morning, saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, along with Isaac his son. He cut the wood for the burnt offering, then set out on his journey to the place that God had told him about.

4 Ao terceiro dia, Abraão ergueu os olhos e viu o lugar de longe. 5 Abraão disse para seus jovens: "Ficai aqui com o jumento, e eu e o rapaz iremos até lá. Nós adoraremos e voltaremos a vós". 6 Então Abraão pegou a madeira para o holocausto e a colocou sobre Isaque, seu filho. Tomou o fogo e a faca em suas próprias mãos e seguiram juntos.

4 On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place afar off. 5 Abraham said to his young men, "Stay here with the donkey, and I and the lad will go over there. We will worship and come again to you." 6 Then Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and put it on Isaac his son. He took in his own hand the fire and the knife; and they went both of them together.

7 E Isaque disse a seu pai, Abraão: "Meu pai!". Respondeu ele: "Aqui estou eu, meu filho". E disse ele: "Eis aqui o fogo e a madeira, mas onde está o cordeiro para o holocausto?" 8 Abraão disse: "Deus proverá para Si o cordeiro para o holocausto, meu filho". E seguiram juntos.

7 Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, "My father," and he said, "Here I am, my son." He said, "See, here is the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?" 8 Abraham said, "God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son." So they went on, both of them together.

9 Quando chegaram ao lugar que Deus havia mostrado, Abraão construiu ali o altar e colocou a madeira sobre ele; amarrou Isaque, seu filho, e o colocou sobre o altar, em cima da madeira. 10 E, estendendo a mão, pegou a faca para sacrificar seu filho.

9 When they came to the place that God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and laid the wood on it. Then he bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. 10 Abraham reached out with his hand and took up the knife to kill his son.

11 Então o Anjo de Yahweh o chamou do céu e disse: "Abraão, Abraão!". E ele respondeu: "Aqui estou". 12 E o Anjo disse: "Não estendas a mão sobre o rapaz, nem lhe faças mal algum, pois agora sei que temes a Deus, porque não Me negaste teu filho, teu único filho".

11 Then the angel of Yahweh called to him from heaven and said, "Abraham, Abraham!" and he said, "Here I am." 12 He said, "Do not lay your hand upon the lad, nor do anything to harm him, for now I know that you fear God, seeing that you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me."

13 Abraão olhou para cima e viu atrás de si um carneiro preso nos arbustos pelos chifres. Abraão foi, pegou o carneiro e o ofereceu em holocausto no lugar de seu filho. 14 Abraão chamou aquele lugar: "Yahweh Proverá", pelo que se diz até o dia de hoje, "No Monte de Yahweh se proverá".

13 Abraham looked up and behold, behind him was a ram caught in the bushes by his horns. Abraham went and took the ram and offered him up as a burnt offering instead of his son. 14 So Abraham called that place, "Yahweh will provide," and it is said to this day, "On the mountain of Yahweh it will be provided."

15 O Anjo de Yahweh chamou Abraão uma segunda vez, desde o céu, 16 e disse: "Por Mim jurei, diz Yahweh, porque fizeste assim e não negaste o teu filho, teu único filho, 17 certamente abençoarei e multiplicarei a tua descendência como as estrelas dos céus e como a areia na praia do mar; e teus descendentes dominarão a cidade de teus inimigos.

15 The angel of Yahweh called to Abraham a second time from heaven 16 and said—this is Yahweh's declaration—by myself I have sworn that because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son, 17 I will surely bless you and I will greatly multiply your descendants as the stars of the heavens, and as the sand which is upon the seashore; and your descendants will possess the gate of their enemies.

18 Em tua descendência, serão benditas todas as nações da terra, pois tu obedeceste a Minha voz". 19 Então Abraão retornou aos seus jovens, eles partiram e foram juntos a Berseba. E ele viveu em Berseba.

18 Through your offspring all the nations of the earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice." 19 So Abraham returned to his young men, and they departed and went together to Beersheba, and he lived at Beersheba.

20 E aconteceu que, depois dessas coisas, disseram a Abraão: "Milca também deu à luz filhos ao teu irmão Naor: 21 Uz, seu primogênito; Buz, seu irmão; Quemuel, pai de Arão; 22 Quesede; Hazo; Pildas; Jidlafe e Betuel".

20 It came about after these things that Abraham was told, "Milkah has borne children, as well, to your brother Nahor." 21 They were Uz his firstborn, Buz his brother, Kemuel the father of Aram, 22 Kesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, and Bethuel.

23 Betuel gerou a Rebeca. Milca deu à luz esses oito filhos de Naor, irmão de Abraão. 24 A concubina de Naor, cujo nome era Reumá, também deu à luz Teba, Gaão, Taás e Maacá.

23 Bethuel became the father of Rebekah. These were the eight children that Milkah bore to Nahor, Abraham's brother. 24 His concubine, whose name was Reumah, also bore Tebah, Gaham, Tahash, and Maakah.
