1 Yahweh atentou para Sara, como Ele disse que faria, e fez por Sara exatamente como havia prometido. 2 Sara concebeu e deu à luz um filho para Abraão em sua velhice, no tempo determinado que Deus havia falado. 3 Abraão chamou seu filho recém-nascido, a quem Sara dera à luz, com o nome de Isaque. 4 Abraão circuncidou seu filho Isaque aos oito dias de idade, como Deus havia ordenado.

1 Yahweh paid attention to Sarah as he had said he would, and Yahweh did for Sarah just as he had promised. 2 Sarah conceived and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. 3 Abraham named his son, the one who had been born to him, whom Sarah bore to him, Isaac. 4 Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, just as God had commanded him.

5 Abraão tinha cem anos de idade quando seu filho Isaque nasceu. 6 Sara disse: "Deus tem-me feito rir; todos quantos ouvirem rirão comigo". 7 E acrescentou: "Quem diria a Abraão que Sara amamentaria filhos? Porque dei a ele um filho na sua velhice!"

5 Abraham was one hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him. 6 Sarah said, "God has made me laugh; every one who hears will laugh with me." 7 She also said, "Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children, and yet I have borne him a son in his old age!"

8 A criança cresceu e foi desmamada, e Abraão fez um grande banquete no dia em que Isaque foi desmamado. 9 Sara viu o filho de Agar, a egípcia que ela havia dado a Abraão, zombando de Isaque.

8 The child grew and was weaned, and Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned. 9 Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, mocking.

10 Então ela disse a Abraão: "Expulsa essa escrava e seu filho, pois o filho dessa escrava não será herdeiro com meu filho Isaque". 11 Essa palavra desagradou muito a Abraão por causa de seu filho.

10 So she said to Abraham, "Drive out this slave woman and her son, for the son of this slave woman will not be heir with my son, with Isaac." 11 This thing was very grievous to Abraham because of his son.

12 Porém Deus disse a Abraão: "Não fiques triste por causa do rapaz e por causa de sua serva. Escuta as palavras de Sara em tudo o que te diz sobre esse assunto, porque é por meio de Isaque que a tua descendência será chamada. 13 Eu também farei do filho da serva uma nação, porque ele é teu descendente".

12 But God said to Abraham, "Do not be grieved because of the lad, and because of your servant woman. Listen to her words in all she says to you about this matter, because it is through Isaac that your descendants will be named. 13 I will also make the son of the servant woman into a nation, because he is your descendant."

14 Abraão se levantou cedo pela madrugada, pegou pão e um odre de água e o deu a Agar, colocando-o em seu ombro. Ele entregou-lhe o menino e despediu-a. Ela partiu e vagou pelo deserto de Berseba. 15 Quando a água do odre acabou, ela abandonou o menino debaixo de um arbusto. 16 Então ela foi e sentou-se à distância de um tiro de arco, porque disse: "Não verei a morte do menino". Ela sentou adiante dele, ergueu a voz e chorou.

14 Abraham rose up early in the morning, took bread and a skin of water, and gave it to Hagar, putting it on her shoulder. He gave her the boy and sent her away. She departed and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba. 15 When the water in the waterskin was gone, she abandoned the child under one of the bushes. 16 Then she went, and sat down a short distance from him, about the distance of a bowshot away, for she said, "Let me not look upon the death of the child." As she sat there across from him, she lifted up her voice and wept.

17 Deus ouviu a voz do rapaz, e o Anjo de Deus chamou Agar desde o céu e lhe disse: "Que tens, Agar? Não tenhas medo, pois Deus ouviu a voz do rapaz de onde ele está. 18 Levanta-te, ergue o rapaz e segura-o pela mão, pois farei dele uma grande nação."

17 God heard the voice of the lad, and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said to her, "What troubles you, Hagar? Do not be afraid, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is. 18 Get up, raise up the lad, and encourage him; for I will make him into a great nation."

19 Então Deus abriu seus olhos, e ela viu um poço. Ela foi, encheu o odre de água e deu de beber ao rapaz. 20 Deus era com o rapaz; ele cresceu, viveu no deserto e tornou-se um flecheiro. 21 Ele viveu no deserto de Parã, e sua mãe tomou para ele uma mulher da terra do Egito.

19 Then God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. She went and filled the skin with water, and gave the lad a drink. 20 God was with the lad, and he grew. He lived in the wilderness and became an archer. 21 He lived in the wilderness of Paran, and his mother got a wife for him from the land of Egypt.

22 Naquele tempo, Abimeleque e Ficol, o capitão do seu exército, falaram a Abraão, dizendo: "Deus é contigo em tudo o que fazes. 23 Agora, portanto, promete-me aqui, por Deus, que não irás tratar falsamente a mim, nem a meu filho, nem a meu neto. Mostra a mim e à terra em que tens estado a mesma benevolência que tenho mostrado a ti". 24 Abraão disse: "Eu prometo".

22 It came about at that time that Abimelek and Phicol the captain of his army spoke to Abraham, saying, "God is with you in all that you do. 23 Now therefore swear to me here by God that you will not deal falsely with me, nor with my offspring, nor with my descendants. Show to me and to the land in which you have been staying the same covenant faithfulness that I have shown to you." 24 Abraham said, "I swear."

25 E Abraão reclamou a Abimeleque por causa de um poço de água do qual os servos de Abimeleque tinham se apropriado. 26 Abimeleque disse: "Eu não sei quem fez isso. E também não me contaste isso antes; nunca ouvi falar disso até hoje". 27 Então Abraão tomou ovelhas e um boi e os deu a Abimeleque, e os dois homens fizeram um acordo.

25 Abraham also complained to Abimelek concerning a well of water that Abimelek's servants had seized from him. 26 Abimelek said, "I do not know who has done this thing. You did not tell me before now; I have not heard of it until today." 27 So Abraham took sheep and cattle and gave them to Abimelek, and the two men made a covenant.

28 Pôs Abraão à parte sete cordeiras do rebanho. 29 Abimeleque disse a Abraão: "Qual é o significado dessas cordeiras que tu colocaste à parte?" 30 Ele respondeu: "Estas sete cordeiras receberás da minha mão para que possam ser um testemunho de que cavei este poço."

28 Then Abraham set seven female lambs of the flock by themselves. 29 Abimelek said to Abraham, "What is the meaning of these seven female lambs that you have set by themselves?" 30 He replied, "These seven female lambs you will receive from my hand, so that it may be a witness for me, that I dug this well."

31 Então ele chamou aquele lugar de Berseba, porque ambos fizeram um juramento. 32 Eles fizeram um acordo em Berseba, e Abimeleque e Ficol, o capitão do seu exército, retornaram à terra dos filisteus.

31 So he called that place Beersheba, because there they both swore an oath. 32 They made a covenant at Beersheba, and then Abimelek and Phicol, the captain of his army, returned to the land of the Philistines.

33 Abraão plantou uma tamargueira em Berseba e ali invocou o Nome de Yahweh, o eterno Deus. 34 Abraão permaneceu como um peregrino na terra dos filisteus por muitos dias.

33 Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba. There he worshiped Yahweh, the eternal God. 34 Abraham remained as a foreigner in the land of the Philistines many days.
