1 Os dois anjos vieram para Sodoma à noite, enquanto Ló estava sentado no portão de Sodoma. Ló os viu, levantou-se, foi ao encontro deles e prostrou-se com seu rosto voltado para o chão. 2 Ele disse: "Por favor, meus senhores, eu insisto que entreis na casa do vosso servo, para passar a noite e lavar vossos pés. Então podereis levantar cedo e seguir o vosso caminho". E eles disseram: "Não, nós passaremos a noite na praça da cidade." 3 Mas ele insistiu com eles fortemente, então eles foram com ele e entraram em sua casa. Ele preparou a comida e assou pães sem fermento, e eles comeram.

1 The two angels came to Sodom in the evening, while Lot was sitting at the gate of Sodom. Lot saw them, arose to meet them, and bowed down with his face to the ground. 2 He said, "See now, my masters, please turn aside into your servant's house, stay for the night, and wash your feet. Then you can rise up early and go on your way." They replied, "No, we will spend the night in the town square." 3 But he urged them strongly, so they went with him, and entered into his house. He prepared a meal and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.

4 Mas, antes que eles se deitassem, todos os homens de Sodoma cercaram a casa, desde os jovens até os velhos, toda a população, até o último. 5 Eles chamaram Ló e disseram-lhe: "Onde estão os homens que vieram a ti esta noite? Trazei-os até nós para que possamos dormir com eles".

4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, all the men from every part of the city. 5 They called to Lot, and said to him, "Where are the men that came in to you tonight? Bring them out to us, that we may know them."

6 Então Ló saiu e fechou a porta atrás de si. 7 Ele disse: "Eu imploro, meus irmãos, que não vos porteis de maneira tão perversa. 8 Vede, eu tenho duas filhas que nunca dormiram com homem algum. Eu as trarei para fora e vós fareis com elas o que bem quiserdes. Mas a esses homens nada façais porque eles estão sob a sombra da minha casa."

6 So Lot went out the door to them and shut the door after himself. 7 He said, "I beg you, my brothers, do not act so wickedly. 8 See now, I have two daughters who have not known any man. Please let me bring them out to you, and you do to them whatever is good in your eyes. Only do nothing to these men, because they have come under the shadow of my roof."

9 Eles disseram: "Sai daí!". Disseram também: "Este veio para viver aqui como estrangeiro e agora tornou-se nosso juiz! Agora nós iremos fazer mais mal a ti do que a eles!". Eles pressionaram fortemente contra o homem, contra Ló, e se aproximaram para derrubar a porta.

9 They said, "Stand back!" They also said, "This one came here to live as a foreigner, and now he has become our judge! Now we will deal worse with you than with them." They pressed hard against the man, against Lot, and came near to break down the door.

10 Mas os visitantes estenderam as mãos, alcançaram Ló e trouxeram-no para dentro da casa e fecharam a porta. 11 Quanto aos homens que estavam do lado de fora da casa, os hóspedes de Ló os atacaram deixando-os cegos, do menor ao maior, de modo que eles ficaram exaustos de tanto procurar a entrada da casa.

10 But the men reached out their hands and brought Lot into the house with them and shut the door. 11 Then Lot's visitors struck with blindness the men who were outside the door of the house, both young and old, so that they became exhausted when they were trying to find the door.

12 Então os dois homens disseram a Ló: "Há mais alguém aqui? Genros, filhos, filhas e qualquer um que tu conheças aqui na cidade, tire-os daqui. 13 Porque vamos destruir este lugar, pois as acusações contra este lugar têm chegado como um grito diante de Yahweh e Ele nos enviou para destruí-lo".

12 Then the men said to Lot, "Do you have anyone else here? Any sons-in-law, your sons and your daughters, and whoever you have in the city, get them out of here. 13 For we are about to destroy this place, because the accusations against it before Yahweh have become so loud that he has sent us to destroy it."

14 Ló saiu e falou com os seus genros, os homens que tinham prometido casar com as suas filhas e lhes disse: "Rápido, saí desse lugar pois Yahweh está prestes a destruir a cidade". Mas, para os seus genros, ele parecia estar brincando. 15 Ao amanhecer, os anjos apressaram Ló dizendo: "Vai, toma a tua mulher e as tuas filhas que estão aqui para que não pereças no castigo da cidade".

14 Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, the men who had promised to marry his daughters, and said, "Quick, get out of this place, for Yahweh is about to destroy the city." But to his sons-in-law he seemed to be joking. 15 When the morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying, "Get going, take your wife and your two daughters that are here, so you are not swept away in the punishment of the city."

16 Porém, como ele se demorava, os homens o pegaram pela mão, bem como sua mulher e suas filhas, porque Yahweh foi misericordioso para com ele. Eles os trouxeram para fora e os colocaram fora da cidade. 17 E aconteceu que, enquanto eles os trouxeram para fora, um dos homens disse: "Foge pela tua vida! Não olhes para trás, nem te detenhas em qualquer lugar na planície. Foge para as montanhas, para que não pereças.

16 But he lingered. So the men grabbed his hand, and the hand of his wife, and the hands of his two daughters, because Yahweh was merciful to him. They brought them out, and set them outside the city. 17 When they had brought them out, one of the men said, "Run for your lives! Do not look back, or stay anywhere on the plain. Escape to the mountains so you are not swept away."

18 Ló disse-lhe: "Não, por favor, meus senhores! 19 Eis que teu servo tem achado graça aos vossos olhos e vós tendes me mostrado grande misericórdia ao salvar a minha vida, mas eu não posso escapar para as montanhas porque a destruição vai me alcançar e eu morrerei. 20 Eis que a cidade ali é perto o suficiente e é pequena. Por favor, permite que eu fuja para lá, (Ela não é pequena?) e minha vida estará a salvo".

18 Lot said to them, "No, please, my masters! 19 See now, your servant has found favor in your eyes, and you have shown me great kindness in saving my life, but I cannot escape to the mountains, because the disaster will overtake me, and I will die. 20 See now, the city over there is a little one. Please, let me escape there—Is it not a little one?—and my life will be saved."

21 Ele lhe disse: "Certo, eu estou concedendo esse pedido também, que eu não destruirei a cidade que tu mencionaste. 22 Apressa-te! Foge para lá, porque não posso fazer nada até que chegues lá". Portanto a cidade foi chamada Zoar.

21 He said to him, "Alright, I am granting this request also, that I will not destroy the city which you have mentioned. 22 Hurry! Escape there, for I cannot do anything until you arrive there." Therefore the city was called Zoar.

23 O sol já havia nascido sobre a terra quando Ló alcançou Zoar. 24 Então Yahweh fez chover do céu enxofre e fogo sobre Sodoma e Gomorra. 25 Yahweh destruiu aquelas cidades, toda a planície, todos os habitantes das cidades e as plantas que cresciam no solo.

23 The sun had risen upon the earth when Lot reached Zoar. 24 Then Yahweh rained down upon Sodom and Gomorrah sulfur and fire from Yahweh out of the sky. 25 He destroyed those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and the plants that grew on the ground.

26 Mas a mulher de Ló, que estava atrás dele, olhou para trás e transformou-se em uma estátua de sal. 27 Abraão levantou-se cedo pela manhã e foi ao lugar onde havia estado antes com Yahweh. 28 Ele olhou para Sodoma e Gomorra e para toda a terra da planície. Olhou e contemplou e viu uma fumaça subindo da terra como uma fumaça de uma fornalha.

26 But Lot's wife, who was behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt. 27 Abraham got up early in the morning and went to the place where he had stood before Yahweh. 28 He looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah and toward all the land of the plain. He looked and behold, smoke was rising from the land like the smoke of a furnace.

29 Então, quando Deus destruiu as cidades de toda a planície, lembrou-se de Abraão e tirou Ló do meio da destruição, quando destruiu as cidades em que Ló havia habitado.

29 So when God destroyed the cities of the plain, God called Abraham to mind. He sent Lot out of the midst of the destruction when he destroyed the cities in which Lot had lived.

30 Mas Ló subiu de Zoar, para viver nas montanhas com suas filhas, porque estava com medo de viver em Zoar. Então viveu em uma caverna, ele e as suas filhas.

30 But Lot went up from Zoar to live in the mountains with his two daughters, because he was afraid to live in Zoar. So he lived in a cave, he and his two daughters.

31 A primogênita disse para a mais nova: "Nosso pai está velho e não há nenhum homem por perto para dormir conosco de acordo como o costume de toda a terra. 32 Vem, deixa-me fazer nosso pai beber vinho e assim dormiremos com ele para que possamos conservar a sua descendência". 33 Elas deram vinho para o pai naquela noite. Então a primogênita foi e dormiu com o pai; ele não sabia quando ela havia deitado nem levantado.

31 The firstborn said to the younger, "Our father is old, and there is no man anywhere to lie with us according to the way of all the world. 32 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, so that we may extend our father's line." 33 So they made their father drink wine that night. Then the firstborn went in and lay with her father; he did not know when she lay down, nor when she got up.

34 No dia seguinte, a primogênita disse à irmã mais nova: "Eis que, na noite passada, eu dormi com o meu pai. Vamos dar-lhe vinho esta noite também, e tu vai e deita-te com ele, para que possamos conservar a sua descendência". 35 Então elas deram vinho para o pai naquele noite e a filha mais nova foi e deitou-se com ele. Ele não soube quando ela se deitou, nem quando se levantou.

34 The next day the firstborn said to the younger, "Listen, here I lay last night with my father. Let us make him drink wine tonight also, and you should go and lie with him, so that we may extend our father's line." 35 So they made their father drink wine that night also, and the younger went and lay with him. He did not know when she lay down or when she got up.

36 Então as duas filhas de Ló ficaram grávidas do seu pai. 37 A primogênita deu à luz um menino, a quem chamou Moabe. Ele tornou-se o ancestral dos moabitas de hoje. 38 A mais nova também deu à luz um menino, a quem chamou Ben-Ami. Ele tornou-se o ancestral dos amonitas de hoje.

36 So both the daughters of Lot were pregnant by their father. 37 The firstborn gave birth to a son, and named him Moab. He became the ancestor of the Moabites of today. 38 As for the younger daughter, she also gave birth to a son, and named him Ben-Ammi. He became the ancestor of the people of Ammon of today.
