1 Então Yahweh disse a Abrão: "Sai da tua terra, e do meio dos teus parentes, e da casa de teu pai, para a terra que Eu te mostrarei. 2 E farei de ti uma grande nação, e te abençoarei, e farei teu nome grande, e tu serás uma benção. 3 Eu abençoarei os que te abençoarem e amaldiçoarei os que te amaldiçoarem. Através de ti, todas as famílias da terra serão abençoadas".

1 Now Yahweh said to Abram, "Go from your country, and from your relatives, and from your father's household, to the land that I will show you. 2 I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, but whoever dishonors you I will curse. Through you will all the families of the earth be blessed."

4 E foi Abrão como Yahweh havia lhe dito que fizesse, e Ló foi com ele. Abrão tinha setenta e cinco anos quando partiu de Harã. 5 Levou consigo Sarai, sua mulher, e Ló, filho de seu irmão, e toda sua riqueza e as pessoas que havia adquirido em Harã. Eles saíram para a terra de Canaã e lá chegaram.

4 So Abram went, as Yahweh had told him to do, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran. 5 Abram took Sarai, his wife, Lot, his brother's son, all their possessions that they had accumulated, and the people that they had acquired in Haran. They left to go into the land of Canaan, and came to the land of Canaan.

6 Abrão atravessou a terra até Siquém para o carvalho de Moré. Naquele tempo, os cananeus habitavam na terra. 7 Yahweh apareceu para Abrão e disse: "Eu darei esta terra para os teus descendentes". Então Abrão edificou um altar para Yahweh, Aquele que lhe havia aparecido.

6 Abram passed through the land as far as Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. At that time the Canaanites lived in the land. 7 Yahweh appeared to Abram, and said, "To your descendants I will give this land." So there Abram built an altar to Yahweh, who had appeared to him.

8 De lá, ele mudou-se para a montanha ao leste de Betel, onde armou sua tenda; estando Betel ao oeste e Ai, ao leste. Lá ele edificou um altar para Yahweh e invocou pelo Seu nome. 9 Então Abrão partiu dali em direção ao Neguebe.

8 From there he moved to the hill country to the east of Bethel, where he pitched his tent, with Bethel to the west and Ai to the east. There he built an altar to Yahweh and called on the name of Yahweh. 9 Then Abram continued journeying, going toward the Negev.

10 E houve fome na terra. Então, Abrão desceu até o Egito para ali ficar, pois a fome era severa na terra. 11 E aconteceu que, quando ele estava se aproximando do Egito, disse para Sarai, sua mulher: "Vê, eu sei que tu és mulher formosa. 12 Quando os egípcios te virem, dirão: "Esta é a mulher dele"; irão matar-me e te manterão viva. 13 Dize, pois, que és minha irmã, e assim estarei bem, graças a ti, e minha vida será poupada por tua causa".

10 There was a famine in the land, so Abram went down into Egypt to stay, for the famine was severe in the land. 11 When he was about to enter into Egypt, he said to Sarai his wife, "See now, I know that you are a beautiful woman. 12 When the Egyptians see you they will say, 'This is his wife,' and they will kill me, but they will keep you alive. 13 Say that you are my sister, so that it may be well with me because of you, and so that my life will be spared because of you."

14 Aconteceu que, quando Abrão entrou no Egito, os egípcios viram que Sarai era mulher muito formosa. 15 Os oficiais do Faraó a viram, elogiaram-na diante do Faraó e a mulher foi levada para a casa do Faraó. 16 Ele tratou bem a Abrão por causa dela e deu-lhe ovelhas, bois, jumentos, servos e servas, jumentas e camelos.

14 It came about that when Abram entered into Egypt, the Egyptians saw that Sarai was very beautiful. 15 The princes of Pharaoh saw her, and praised her to Pharaoh, and the woman was taken into Pharaoh's household. 16 Pharaoh treated Abram well for her sake, and Abram received sheep and cattle, male donkeys, male servants, female servants, female donkeys, and camels.

17 Então Yahweh afligiu a Faraó e a sua casa com grandes pragas, por causa de Sarai, mulher de Abrão. 18 Faraó chamou Abrão e disse: "O que é isto que fizeste? Por que não me relataste que ela era tua mulher? 19 Por que me disseste que ela é tua irmã, de modo que a tomei para ser minha mulher? Agora, pois, aqui está a tua mulher, toma-a e segue teu caminho. 20 Então Faraó deu ordens a seus homens a respeito dele, e levaram-no embora, junto com sua esposa e com tudo o que possuía".

17 Then Yahweh afflicted Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram's wife. 18 Pharaoh summoned Abram, and said, "What is this that you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife? 19 Why did you say, 'She is my sister,' so that I took her to be my wife? Now therefore, here is your wife. Take her, and go your way." 20 Then Pharaoh gave orders to his men concerning him, and they sent him away, along with his wife and all that he had.
