1 Palavras do rei Lemuel, um oráculo ensinado por sua mãe. 2 O quê, meu filho? O quê, filho do meu ventre? O quê, filho dos meus votos? 3 Não dês tua força às mulheres, ou os teus caminhos àqueles que destroem reis.

1 The words of King Lemuel—a burden his mother taught him. 2 What, my son? What is it, son of my womb? What do you want, son of my vows? 3 Do not give your strength to women, or your ways to those who destroy kings.

4 Não convém a reis, Lemuel, não convém a reis beber vinho, nem a governantes desejar a bebida forte; 5 porque quando eles bebem, esquecem-se do que foi decretado, e pervertem os direitos de todos os aflitos.

4 It is not for kings, Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, or for rulers to crave strong drink, 5 because when they drink they forget what has been decreed, and pervert the rights of all the afflicted.

6 Dai bebida forte ao que está perecendo e vinho aos amargurados. 7 Ele beberá e se esquecerá de sua pobreza, e não se lembrará de suas dificuldades.

6 Give strong drink to a person who is perishing and wine to those in bitter distress. 7 He will drink and he will forget his poverty and he will not remember his trouble.

8 Fala por aqueles que não podem falar, pelas causas de todos os que estão perecendo. 9 Fala e julga pela medida do que é justo, e defende a causa dos pobres e necessitados.

8 Speak for those who cannot speak, for the causes of all who are perishing. 9 Speak out and judge by the measure of what is right and plead the cause of poor and needy people.

10 Quem pode achar uma esposa virtuosa? Seu valor vai muito além de joias. 11 O coração de seu marido confia nela e ele não terá falta de nada. 12 Ela faz coisas boas por ele e não más, todos os dias de sua vida.

10 Who can find a capable wife? Her value is far more than jewels. 11 The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will never be poor. 12 She does good things for him and not evil all the days of her life.

13 Ela escolhe lã e linho, e trabalha com o deleite de suas mãos. 14 Ela é como os navios mercantes, traz comida de longe. 15 Ela se levanta enquanto é noite, dá comida à sua família e distribui as tarefas entre suas servas.

13 She searches for wool and flax and works with the delight of her hands. 14 She is like the merchant ships; she brings her food from far away. 15 She rises while it is night and gives food to her household, and she distributes portions to her female servants.

16 Ela avalia um campo e o compra, com o fruto de suas mãos, planta uma vinha. 17 Ela se veste de força e fortalece os seus braços.

16 She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard. 17 She girds herself with strength and makes her arms strong.

18 Ela percebe o que lhe trará bom lucro; durante toda a noite, sua lâmpada não se apaga. 19 Ela põe suas mãos no fuso e segura a roca de fiar.

18 She perceives what will make a good profit for her; all night long her lamp is not extinguished. 19 She puts her hands on the spindle, and her hands grasp the twisting thread.

20 Ela estende sua mão aos pobres, estende suas mãos aos necessitados. 21 Ela não teme a neve por sua família, pois toda a sua família está vestida com lã escarlate.

20 She reaches out with her hand to poor people; she reaches out with her hands to needy people. 21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household, for all her household are clothed in scarlet.

22 Ela faz cobertas para sua cama e veste-se de roupas de linho púrpura. 23 Seu marido é conhecido junto aos portões, quando ele se assenta com os anciãos da terra.

22 She makes coverings for her bed, and she wears clothes of fine purple linen. 23 Her husband is known at the gates, when he sits with the elders of the land.

24 Ela faz vestes de linho e as vende, fornece faixas aos comerciantes. 25 Ela se veste de força e honra e ri para o futuro.

24 She makes linen garments and sells them, and she supplies sashes to the merchants. 25 She is clothed with strength and honor, and she laughs at the future.

26 Ela abre sua boca com sabedoria e a lei dos benevolentes está em sua língua. 27 Ela vigia os caminhos de sua casa e não come do pão da preguiça.

26 She opens her mouth with wisdom and the law of kindness is on her tongue. 27 She watches over the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.

28 Seus filhos crescem e a chamam de abençoada; seu marido a elogia, dizendo: 29 "Muitas mulheres fizeram o bem, mas tu a todas superas".

28 Her children rise up and call her blessed, and her husband praises her, saying, 29 "Many women have done well, but you surpassed them all."

30 A elegância é enganosa, a beleza é fútil, mas a mulher que teme a Yahweh, essa será elogiada. 31 Dai a ela o fruto de suas mãos e que seu trabalho a engrandeça nos portões.

30 Elegance is deceptive, beauty is vain, but a woman who fears Yahweh, she will be praised. 31 Give her the fruit of her hands and let her works praise her in the gates.
