1 Provérbios de Salomão. Um filho sábio alegra o seu pai, mas um filho tolo traz aflição à sua mãe. 2 Tesouros acumulados por meio de perversidade não têm valor, mas fazer o que é correto te livra da morte. 3 Yahweh não deixa passar fome a alma do justo, mas frustra os desejos dos perversos.

1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes his father rejoice but a foolish son brings grief to his mother. 2 Treasures accumulated by wickedness give no profit, but doing what is right delivers from death. 3 Yahweh does not let the soul of the righteous person go hungry, but he frustrates the cravings of the wicked.

4 A mão preguiçosa faz a pessoa empobrecer, mas a mão do diligente ganha riquezas. 5 O filho sábio ajunta a colheita no verão, mas aquele que dorme durante a colheita é vergonhoso.

4 A lazy hand causes a person to be poor, but the hand of the diligent person gains riches. 5 A wise son gathers a crop in the summer, but it is disgraceful for him to sleep during harvest.

6 Presentes de Deus estão sobre a cabeça do justo, mas a boca dos perversos encobre a violência. 7 A pessoa justa faz tornarem-se felizes os que se lembram dela, mas o nome dos perversos apodrecerá.

6 Blessings from God are upon the head of the righteous person, but the mouth of the wicked covers up violence. 7 The righteous person makes those who remember him happy, but the name of the wicked will rot away.

8 Aqueles que são sensíveis aceitam ordens, mas o tolo que fala muito irá à ruína. 9 Aquele que caminha em integridade caminha em segurança, mas aquele que faz seus caminhos tortos, este será descoberto.

8 The wise of heart accept commands, but a talkative fool will come to ruin. 9 He who walks in integrity walks in safety, but the one who makes his ways crooked, he will be found out.

10 Aquele que pisca o olho causa aflição, e o tolo que muito fala será derrubado. 11 A boca do justo é uma fonte de água de vida, mas a boca do perverso encobre a violência.

10 He who winks the eye causes grief, but a talkative fool will come to ruin. 11 The mouth of the righteous person is a water spring of life, but the mouth of the wicked covers up violence.

12 O ódio provoca conflitos, mas o amor cobre todas as ofensas. 13 A sabedoria é achada nos lábios da pessoa que tem discernimento, mas a vara é para as costas daquele que não tem juízo.

12 Hatred stirs up conflicts, but love covers over all transgressions. 13 Wisdom is found on the lips of a discerning person, but a rod is for the back of the one who has no sense.

14 Os sábios acumulam conhecimento, mas a boca do tolo faz aproximar a destruição. 15 A riqueza do rico é sua cidade fortificada; a pobreza dos pobres é a sua miséria.

14 Wise men store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool brings destruction near. 15 The wealth of a rich man is his fortified city; the poverty of the poor is their destruction.

16 O salário do justo conduz à vida; o lucro dos perversos conduz ao pecado. 17 Está no caminho para a vida os que seguem a disciplina, mas aquele que rejeita a repreensão se desvia.

16 The wage of the righteous person leads to life; the income of the wicked leads them to sin. 17 There is a path to life for the one who follows discipline, but the one who rejects correction is led astray.

18 Quem esconde o ódio tem lábios mentirosos e o que espalha calúnias é tolo. 19 Quando há muitas palavras, transgressão não falta, mas aquele que é cuidadoso com o que diz é sábio.

18 Whoever conceals hatred has lying lips, and whoever spreads slander is a fool. 19 When there are many words, transgression is not lacking, but he who is careful in what he says is wise.

20 A língua do justo é prata pura; há pouco valor no coração do perverso. 21 Os lábios do justo alimentam a muitos, mas os tolos morrem por causa da sua falta de bom senso.

20 The tongue of the righteous person is pure silver; there is little value in the heart of the wicked. 21 The lips of the righteous person nourish many, but fools die because of their lack of sense.

22 Os bons presentes de Yahweh trazem riqueza, sem dor. 23 A perversidade é um jogo que o tolo pratica, mas a sabedoria é prazer ao homem de entendimento.

22 The blessingss of Yahweh bring wealth and he adds no pain to it. 23 Wickedness is a game a fool plays, but wisdom is a pleasure to a man of understanding.

24 O medo do perverso virá sobre ele, mas o desejo dos justos será concedido. 25 Como a tempestade que passa, assim deixam de existir os perversos; mas o justo é como um fundamento que dura para sempre.

24 The fear of the wicked person will overtake him, but the desire of righteous people will be granted. 25 The wicked are like the storm that passes by, and they are no more, but the righteous person is a foundation that lasts forever.

26 Como vinagre para os dentes e fumaça para os olhos, assim é o preguiçoso para aqueles que o enviam. 27 O temor a Yahweh prolonga a vida, mas os anos dos perversos serão curtos.

26 Like vinegar on the teeth and smoke in the eyes, so is the lazy person to those who send him. 27 The fear of Yahweh prolongs life, but the years of the wicked will be short.

28 A esperança dos justos é sua alegria, mas a expectativa dos perversos perecerá. 29 O caminho de Yahweh protege os que possuem integridade, mas a destruição é para os perversos. 30 O justo nunca será derrotado, mas os perversos não permanecerão na terra.

28 The hope of righteous people is their joy, but the hope of wicked people will perish. 29 The way of Yahweh is a stronghold for those who have integrity, but it is destruction for the workers of wickedness. 30 The righteous person will never be overthrown, but the wicked will not remain in the land.

31 Da boca do justo sai o fruto de sabedoria, mas a língua perversa será cortada fora. 32 Os lábios do justo sabem o que é aceitável, mas da boca dos perversos só vêm más palavras.

31 Out of the mouth of the righteous person comes the fruit of wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut out. 32 The lips of the righteous person know what gains favor, but the mouth of the wicked, they know what is perverse.
