1 Sucedeu acerca disto que, no décimo primeiro ano, no terceiro mês, no primeiro dia do mês, veio a mim a palavra de Yahweh, dizendo: 2 "Filho do homem, dize ao Faraó, o rei do Egito, e à multidão em sua volta: 'Quem é semelhante a ti em sua grandeza?

1 Then it came about in the eleventh year, in the third month, on the first day of the month, that the word of Yahweh came to me, saying, 2 "Son of man, say to Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and to his multitudes around him, 'In your greatness, who are you like?

3 Eis que a Assíria era um cedro no Líbano, com ramos formosos, de sombrosa folhagem, de alta estatura, com seus ramos expessos. 4 Muitas águas o fizeram crescer; as profundezas das águas o fez crescer; rios corriam nesta área e os seus canais eram estendidos para todas árvores do campo.

3 Behold! Assyria was a cedar in Lebanon with beautiful branches, giving shade to the forest, and the tallest in height, and the branches formed its treetop. 4 Many waters made it tall; the deep waters made it huge. Rivers flowed all around its area, for their channels stretched out to all the trees in the field.

5 Era mais alta que qualquer outras árvores do campo e se multiplicaram os seus ramos e as suas varas se alongaram por causa das muitas águas em suas raízes. 6 Todas as aves do céu se aninhavam nos seus ramos, todos os animais do campo davam cria debaixo das suas folhagens. E as nações se assentavam à sua sombra. 7 Era formosa na sua grandeza e na extensão dos seus ramos e, nas muitas águas, estavam as suas raízes.

5 Its great height was more than any of the other trees in the field, and its branches became very many; its branches grew long because of many waters as they grew. 6 Every bird of the heavens nested in its branches, while every living thing of the field gave birth to its young under its foliage. All of the many nations lived under its shade. 7 For it was beautiful in its greatness and the length of its branches, for its roots were in many waters.

8 Os cedros no jardim de Deus não se igualavam a ele. Nenhuma árvore de cipreste se assemelhava aos seus ramos, plátanos não se comparavam aos seus galhos. Não havia outra árvore no jardim de Deus como esta em sua formosura. 9 Eu o fiz formoso com a multidão de ramos; e todas árvores do Éden, que estavam no jardim de Deus, tiveram inveja dele.

8 Cedars in the garden of God could not equal it. None among the cypress trees matched its branches, and the plane tree could not equal its boughs. There was no other tree in the garden of God that was like it in its beauty. 9 I made it beautiful with its many branches and all the trees of Eden that were in the garden of God envied it.

10 Portanto, assim diz Yahweh Deus: Porque te elevaste em tua estatura, te levantaste no teu topo entre seus ramos e exaltaste teu coração por causa da tua altura. 11 Eu te entreguei na mão da mais poderosa das nações, que te dará o tratamento merecido pela tua corrupção. Já te lançei fora.

10 Therefore the Lord Yahweh says this: Because it was tall in height, and it set its treetop between its branches, it lifted up its heart because of its height. 11 I have given it into the hand of a mighty one of the nations, to deal with it according to what its wickedness deserves. I have thrown it out.

12 Estrangeiros, que eram terror de todas as nações, te cortaram e te deixaram morrer. Os teus ramos caíram sobre os montes e em todos os vales; os teus renovos foram quebrados por todas as correntes da terra. Então, todas as nações da Terra se retiraram debaixo das tuas sombras e te deixaram.

12 Foreigners who were the terror of all the nations cut it off and left it to die. Its branches fell on the mountains and all the valleys, and its boughs lay broken in all the ravines of the land. Then all the nations on earth came out from under its shade and they went away from it.

13 Todas as aves do céu pousavam no tronco da árvore caída e todos os animais do campo se vieram sobre os seus ramos. 14 Isso aconteceu para que nenhuma outra árvore que crescesse junto às águas, se exaltasse pelas suas folhagens ou por sua altura, para que nenhuma outra árvore que cresce junto às águas crescesse até o alto. Pois todas elas estão destinadas à morte abaixo da terra, no meio dos filhos dos homens, com os que descem à cova.

13 All the birds of the sky rested on the trunk of the fallen tree, and every animal of the field came to its branches. 14 This happened so that no other trees that grow by the waters will lift up their foliage to the height of the tallest trees, and that no other trees that grow beside the waters will reach up to that height. All of them have been assigned to death, to the earth below, among the children of humanity, with those that go down to the pit.

15 Assim diz Yahweh Deus: No dia em que o cedro desceu para o Sheol, Eu trouxe luto para a terra, cobrí as suas águas profundas e retive as águas do oceano. Retive as águas profundas e fiz aparecer luto para o Líbano, por causa dele. E todas as árvores do campo desfaleceram por causa dele.

15 The Lord Yahweh says this: On the day when the cedar went down to Sheol I brought mourning to the earth. I covered the deep waters over it, and I held back the ocean waters. I kept back the great waters, and I brought mourning to Lebanon for him. So all the trees of the field mourned because of it.

16 Eu trouxe tremor para as nações ao som da sua queda, quando o fiz descer ao inferno, com aqueles que descem à cova. Eu consolei todas as árvores do Éden e o melhor do Líbano, todas as árvores que beberam as águas, dos lugares mais baixos da terra.

16 I brought shuddering to the nations at the sound of its downfall, when I threw it down to Sheol with those who went down into the pit. So I comforted all the trees of Eden in the lowest parts of the earth. These had been the choicest and best trees of Lebanon; the trees that drank the waters.

17 Pois elas também desceram com o cedro para o Sheol, para se unir aos que foram mortos pela espada. Estes foram seu braço forte, as nações que viviam às suas sombras. 18 Qual das árvores do Éden que era semelhante a ti em glória e em grandeza? Também tu serás derrubada com as árvores do Éden nas mais baixas partes da terra; no meio dos incircuncisos, morarás com aqueles que foram mortos pela espada'. Este é Faraó e toda sua multidão — essa é a declaração de Yahweh Deus".

17 For they also went down with it to Sheol, to the ones who had been killed by the sword. These were its strong arm, those nations who had lived in its shade. 18 Which of the trees in Eden was your equal in glory and greatness? For you will be brought down with the trees of Eden to the lowest parts of the earth among the uncircumcised; you will lie down with those who were killed by the sword.' This is Pharaoh and all of his multitudes—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration."
