1 Alguns dos anciãos de Israel vieram e se sentaram diante de mim. 2 A palavra de Yahweh veio a mim, dizendo: 3 "Filho do homem, estes homens deram lugar em seus corações aos ídolos e colocaram o tropeço de sua maldade diante de sua própria face. Deveria Eu ser consultado por eles?

1 Some of the elders of Israel came to me and sat before me. 2 Then the word of Yahweh came to me, saying, 3 "Son of man, these men have taken their idols into their hearts and have put the stumbling block of their iniquity before their own faces. Should I be inquired of at all by them?

4 Portanto, anuncia isto a eles: 'Assim diz Yahweh Deus: Qualquer homem de Israel que, depois de guardar seus ídolos no coração, ou colocar tropeço de maldade diante de sua face, vier consultar os profetas, Eu, Yahweh, lhes responderei conforme a multidão de seus ídolos. 5 Eu farei isto para reconquistar os corações da casa de Israel, que foram afastados de Mim, através dos seus ídolos'.

4 Therefore announce this to them and say to them, 'The Lord Yahweh says this: Every man of the house of Israel who takes his idols into his heart, or who puts the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and who then comes to a prophet—I, Yahweh, will answer him according to the number of his idols. 5 I will do this so that I may take back the house of Israel in their hearts that have been driven far from me through their idols.'

6 Portanto, diz à casa de Israel: 'Assim diz Yahweh Deus: Arrependei-vos e deixai os vossos ídolos! Desviai o rosto de todas as vossas abominações.

6 Therefore say to the house of Israel, 'The Lord Yahweh says this: Repent and turn away from your idols! Turn back your faces from all your abominations.

7 Pois a todos os da casa de Israel e a todos os estrangeiros que vivem em Israel, que Me abandonam, guardam seus ídolos no coração, colocam tropeço de maldade diante deles e que, depois, vêm consultar o profeta, Eu mesmo, Yahweh, lhes responderei. 8 Virarei Meu rosto contra esses homens e farei deles um sinal e um provérbio, Eu os eliminarei do meio do Meu povo e vós sabereis que Eu sou Yahweh.

7 For every one from the house of Israel and every one of the foreigners staying in Israel who deserts me, who takes his idols into his heart and puts the stumbling block of his iniquity before his own face, and who then comes to a prophet to seek me—I, Yahweh, will answer him myself. 8 So I will set my face against that man and make him a sign and a proverb, for I will cut him off from the midst of my people, and you will know that I am Yahweh.

9 Se um profeta for enganado e falar a mensagem, então, Eu, Yahweh, enganarei este profeta; estenderei Minha mão contra ele e o destruirei do meio do Meu povo. 10 Eles levarão suas próprias iniquidades; e a iniquidade do profeta será a mesma iniquidade daquele que consultá-lo. 11 Para que a casa de Israel não se desvie de seguir-Me e nem se contamine por estas transgressões. Eles serão o Meu povo e Eu serei o seu Deus, esta é a palavra de Yahweh Deus".

9 If a prophet is deceived and speaks a message, then I, Yahweh, will deceive that prophet; I will reach out with my hand against him and destroy him from the midst of my people Israel. 10 They will carry their own iniquity; the iniquity of the prophet will be the same as the iniquity of the one who inquires from him. 11 Because of this, the house of Israel will no longer wander away from following me nor defile themselves any longer through all their transgressions. They will be my people, and I will be their God—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration.'"

12 A palavra de Yahweh veio a mim, dizendo: 13 "Filho do homem, quando um povo pecar contra Mim, cometendo graves transgressões, Eu estenderei Minha mão contra ele e cortarei sua provisão, enviando fome sobre ele e seus animais, exterminando-os da terra; 14 e, mesmo se estes três homens — Noé, Daniel e Jó — estivessem ali, poderiam somente livrar suas próprias vidas, por sua justiça" — esta é a palavra de Yahweh.

12 Then the word of Yahweh came to me, saying, 13 "Son of man, when a land sins against me by committing a sin so that I reach out with my hand against it and break the staff of its bread, and send out over it a famine and cut off both men and animals from the land; 14 then even if these three men—Noah, Daniel, and Job—were in the land's midst, they could only rescue their own lives by their righteousness—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration.

15 "Se Eu enviar animais selvagens pela terra e eles a devastarem, e ela se tornar improdutiva por causa dos animais, 16 mesmo se esses três homens estivessem nela — assim como Eu vivo, diz Yahweh Deus — eles não poderiam salvar nem mesmo seus próprios filhos ou suas filhas; apenas suas vidas seriam poupadas e a terra seria desolada.

15 If I send evil beasts through the land and make it barren so that it becomes a wasteland where no man may pass through because of the beasts, 16 then even if these same three men were in it—as I live, declares the Lord Yahweh—they would not be able to rescue even their own sons or daughters; only their own lives would be rescued, but the land would become a wasteland.

17 Ou, se Eu trouxer a espada contra aquela terra e disser: 'Espada, passa pela terra e extermina o homem e o animal dela', 18 mesmo se esses três homens estivessem nela — assim como Eu vivo, diz Yahweh — eles não poderiam salvar nem mesmo seus próprios filhos ou suas filhas; apenas suas vidas seriam resgatadas.

17 Or if I bring a sword against that land and say, 'Sword, go through the land and cut off both men and animals from it', 18 then even if these three men were in the midst of the land—as I live, declares the Lord Yahweh—they would not be able to rescue even their own sons or daughters; only their own lives would be rescued.

19 Ou, se Eu enviar a peste sobre esta terra e derramar meu furor contra ela com derramamento de sangue, para eliminar homem e animal, 20 mesmo se Noé, Daniel e Jó estivessem nessa terra — assim como Eu vivo, declara Yahweh Deus — eles não poderiam nem mesmo salvar seus filhos ou suas filhas; apenas suas próprias vidas seriam resgatadas, pela sua justiça".

19 Or if I send a plague against this land and pour out my fury against it through bloodshed, in order to cut off both men and animals, 20 then even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were in that land—as I live, declares the Lord Yahweh—they would not be able to rescue even their own sons or daughters; only their own lives would be rescued by their righteousness.

21 Porque assim diz Yahweh Deus: "Certamente, irei piorar a situação enviando contra Jerusalém Minhas quatro punições — fome, espada, animais selvagens e peste — para eliminar todo homem e todo animal.

21 For the Lord Yahweh says this: I will certainly make things worse by sending my four punishments—famine, sword, wild animals, and plague—against Jerusalem to cut off both men and animals from her.

22 Mas, se houver sobreviventes que levem para fora os filhos e as filhas que foram deixados na cidade, eis que, quando eles vierem a vosso encontro, vereis seus caminhos e suas ações; e ficareis consolados da punição que Eu enviei para Jerusalém e de tudo que Eu enviei sobre ela. 23 Os sobreviventes irão consolar-vos quando virdes os seus caminhos e suas ações, e sabereis que não fiz isto em vão — esta é a palavra de Yahweh Deus".

22 Yet, behold! A remnant will be left in her, survivors who will go out with sons and daughters. Behold! They will go out to you, and you will see their ways and actions and be comforted concerning the punishment that I have sent to Jerusalem, and about everything else that I have sent against the land. 23 The survivors will comfort you when you see their ways and their actions, so you will know all these things I have done against her, that I have not done them in vain!—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration."
