1 Jesus seguiu para o Monte das Oliveiras. 2 De manhã cedo, foi novamente ao templo, e todo o povo veio até Ele; Ele se assentou e começou a ensiná-lo. 3 Os escribas e fariseus trouxeram uma mulher apanhada em adultério; colocando-a no meio de todos,

1 [[ See the note on John 7:53. ]] Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2 Early in the morning he came to the temple again, and all the people came; he sat down and taught them. 3 The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman caught in the act of adultery. They placed her in the middle.

4 e disseram-Lhe: "Mestre, esta mulher foi apanhada em flagrante cometendo adultério. 5 A Lei de Moisés nos ordena que tais mulheres sejam apedrejadas; Tu, portanto, que dizes?". 6 Eles diziam isso para prová-Lo, para que tivessem algo para acusá-Lo, mas Jesus, inclinando-Se, começou a escrever no chão com o dedo.

4 Then they said to him, "Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery. 5 Now in the law, Moses commanded us to stone such people; what do you say about her?" 6 They said this in order to trap him so that they might have something to accuse him about, but Jesus bent down and wrote on the ground with his finger.

7 Como insistissem na pergunta, Ele levantou-Se e disse-lhes: "Aquele que não tiver pecado, seja o primeiro a lhe atirar uma pedra". 8 Então, inclinou-Se novamente e voltou a escrever no chão com Seu dedo.

7 When they continued asking him questions, he stood up and said to them, "The one among you who has no sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." 8 Again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground with his finger.

9 Quando ouviram isso, saíram um por um, começando pelos mais velhos; e Jesus foi deixado sozinho com a mulher ficando no meio. 10 Jesus Se levantou e disse-lhe: "Mulher, onde estão os teus acusadores? Nenhum te condenou?". 11 Ela respondeu: "Nenhum, Senhor". Jesus disse: "Nem Eu te condeno. Vai e, a partir de agora, não peques mais.” (Os manuscritos mais antigos omitem João 7:53—8:11)]

9 When they heard it, they left one by one, beginning with the oldest. Finally Jesus was left alone, with the woman who had been in the middle. 10 Jesus stood up and said to her, "Woman, where are your accusers? Did no one condemn you?" 11 She said, "No one, Lord." Jesus said, "Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more."] [[ See the note on John 7:53. ]]

12 Novamente Jesus lhes falou: "Eu sou a luz do mundo. Aquele que Me segue não andará em trevas, mas terá a luz da vida". 13 Os fariseus Lhe disseram: "Tu dás testemunho de Ti mesmo; o Teu testemunho não é verdadeiro".

12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in the darkness but will have the light of life." 13 The Pharisees said to him, "You testify about yourself; your testimony is not true."

14 Jesus respondeu-lhes: "Ainda que Eu dê testemunho de Mim mesmo, Meu testemunho é verdadeiro. Eu sei de onde vim e para onde vou, mas vós não sabeis de onde venho e nem para onde vou. 15 Vós julgais segundo a carne, Eu a ninguém julgo. 16 E se Eu julgo, Meu julgamento é verdadeiro, porque não estou sozinho, mas Eu estou com o Pai que Me enviou.

14 Jesus answered and said to them, "Even if I testify about myself, my testimony is true. I know where I came from and where I am going, but you do not know where I came from or where I am going. 15 You judge according the flesh; I judge no one. 16 Yet if I judge, my judgment is true because I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent me.

17 E na vossa Lei está escrito que o testemunho de dois homens é verdadeiro. 18 Eu dou testemunho de Mim mesmo, e o Pai que Me enviou dá testemunho de Mim".

17 Yes, and in your law it is written that the testimony of two men is true. 18 I am he who testifies about myself, and the Father who sent me testifies about me."

19 Eles disseram: "Onde está o Teu Pai?" Jesus respondeu-lhes: "Vós não conheceis a Mim, nem a Meu Pai; se Me conhecêsseis, saberíeis quem é o Meu Pai”. 20 Ele disse essas palavras perto da caixa das ofertas, quando ensinava no templo, e ninguém O prendeu porque Sua hora ainda não havia chegado.

19 They said to him, "Where is your father?" Jesus answered, "You know neither me nor my Father; if you had known me, you would have known my Father also." 20 He said these words in the treasury as he taught in the temple, and no one arrested him because his hour had not yet come.

21 E lhes disse outra vez: "Vou embora, e Me procurareis, mas morrereis em vosso pecado. Para onde vou não podeis ir". 22 E os judeus diziam: "Será que vai-Se matar? Pois diz: ‘Para onde vou, vós não podeis ir’”.

21 So again he said to them, "I am going away; you will seek me and will die in your sin. Where I am going, you cannot come." 22 The Jews said, "Will he kill himself? Is that why he says, 'Where I am going you cannot come'?"

23 E dizia-lhes: "Vós sois daqui de baixo, Eu sou lá de cima. Vós sois deste mundo, Eu não sou deste mundo. 24 Por isso Eu vos disse que morrereis nos vossos pecados. Pois se não crerdes que EU SOU, morrereis nos vossos pecados”.

23 Jesus said to them, "You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. 24 Therefore, I said to you that you will die in your sins. For unless you believe that I AM, you will die in your sins."

25 Diziam-Lhe então: "Quem és Tu?". Jesus lhes respondeu: "O que Eu tenho lhes dito desde o princípio. 26 Tenho muitas coisas para falar e para julgar a vosso respeito. Entretanto, Aquele que Me enviou é verdadeiro, e as coisas que Dele ouvi, essas coisas digo ao mundo”. 27 Eles não entenderam que Ele falava do Pai.

25 They said therefore to him, "Who are you?" Jesus said to them, "What I have said to you from the beginning. 26 I have many things to speak and to judge about you. However, he who sent me is true; and the things that I heard from him, these things I say to the world." 27 They did not understand that he was speaking to them about the Father.

28 Jesus lhes disse, portanto: "Quando tiverdes levantado o Filho do Homem, então sabereis que EU SOU, e que nada faço por Mim mesmo; mas falo como o Pai Me ensinou. 29 E Aquele que Me enviou está Comigo, e Ele não Me deixa sozinho, pois Eu sempre faço as coisas que Lhe agrada". 30 Enquanto Jesus dizia essas coisas, muitos creram Nele.

28 Jesus said, "When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then will you know that I AM, and that I do nothing of myself. As the Father taught me, I speak these things. 29 He who sent me is with me, and he has not left me alone, because I always do what is pleasing to him." 30 As Jesus was saying these things, many believed in him.

31 Jesus disse aos judeus que creram Nele: "Se vós permanecerdes na Minha palavra, sereis verdadeiramente Meus discípulos. 32 E conhecereis a Verdade, e a Verdade vos libertará". 33 Eles responderam: "Somos descendentes de Abraão, e nunca fomos escravos de ninguém, como podes Tu dizer: 'Sereis libertos'?".

31 Jesus said to those Jews who had believed him, "If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples; 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." 33 They answered him, "We are descendants of Abraham and have never been slaves of anyone; how can you say, 'You will be set free'?"

34 Jesus lhes respondeu: "Em verdade, em verdade, vos digo que quem comete pecado é escravo do pecado. 35 O escravo não permanece na casa para sempre, mas o filho permanece para sempre. 36 Portanto, se o Filho vos libertar, verdadeiramente sereis livres.

34 Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin. 35 The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. 36 Therefore, if the Son sets you free, you will be truly free.

37 Eu sei que sois descendentes de Abraão; vós procurais Me matar porque as Minhas palavras não encontram lugar em vós. 38 Eu falo o que vi de Meu Pai, e vós fazeis o que ouvistes de vosso pai”.

37 I know that you are Abraham's descendants; you seek to kill me because my word has no place in you. 38 I say what I have seen with my Father, and you also do what you heard from your father."

39 Eles responderam: "Nosso pai é Abraão". Jesus lhes disse: "Se fôsseis filhos de Abraão, faríeis as obras de Abraão. 40 Contudo vós procurais matar-Me, que tenho lhes contado a verdade que ouvi de Deus; mas Abraão não fez isso. 41 Vós fazeis as obras de vosso pai". Eles disseram: "Nós não nascemos de imoralidade sexual; nós temos um Pai, Deus".

39 They answered and said to him, "Our father is Abraham." Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham. 40 Yet, now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do this. 41 You do the works of your father." They said to him, "We were not born in sexual immorality; we have one Father: God."

42 Jesus disse: "Se Deus fosse vosso Pai, vós Me amaríeis, pois venho de Deus, e aqui estou; porque não vim por Mim mesmo, mas Ele Me enviou. 43 Por que vós não entendeis as Minhas palavras? É porque sois incapazes de compreender Minha palavra. 44 Vós sois de vosso pai, o diabo, e vós quereis satisfazer vosso pai. Ele foi homicida desde o princípio, e não permaneceu na verdade, porque a verdade não estava nele. Quando ele fala uma mentira, fala o que vem de sua natureza, porque é mentiroso e pai da mentira.

42 Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and am here; for neither have I come of myself, but he sent me. 43 Why do you not understand my words? It is because you cannot hear my words. 44 You are of your father, the devil, and you wish to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature because he is a liar and the father of lies.

45 Mas, porque Eu falo a verdade, vós não credes em Mim. 46 Quem dentre vós pode acusar-Me de algum pecado? Se digo a verdade, por que não credes em Mim? 47 Aquele que é de Deus ouve as Suas palavras; por isso vós não ouvis, porque não sois de Deus".

45 Yet, because I speak the truth, you do not believe me. 46 Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I speak the truth, why do you not believe me? 47 He who is of God hears the words of God; you do not hear them because you are not of God."

48 Os judeus responderam-Lhe: "Acaso não temos razão ao dizermos que Tu és samaritano e que tens demônio?". 49 Jesus lhes respondeu: "Eu não tenho demônio; mas Eu honro o Meu Pai, e vós Me desonrais.

48 The Jews answered and said to him, "Do we not truly say that you are a Samaritan and have a demon?" 49 Jesus answered, "I do not have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me.

50 Eu não busco Minha própria glória; há quem a procure e julgue. 51 Em verdade, em verdade, vos digo que, se alguém guarda a Minha palavra, jamais verá a morte".

50 I do not seek my glory; there is one seeking and judging. 51 Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death."

52 Os judeus disseram-lhe: "Agora sabemos que tens demônio. Abraão e os profetas morreram, mas Tu dizes: 'Se alguém guardar a Minha palavra, nunca verá a morte'. 53 Acaso, Tu és maior que nosso pai Abraão que morreu? Os profetas também morreram. Quem pretendes ser?".

52 The Jews said to him, "Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham and the prophets died; but you say, 'If anyone keeps my word, he will never taste death.' 53 You are not greater than our father Abraham who died, are you? The prophets also died. Who do you make yourself out to be?"

54 Jesus lhes respondeu: "Se Eu glorificasse a Mim mesmo, Minha glória não seria nada; é o Meu Pai Quem Me glorifica, Aquele que vós dizeis ser vosso Deus. 55 Vós não O conheceis, mas Eu O conheço. Se Eu dissesse que Eu não O conheço, seria mentiroso como vós. Entretanto, Eu O conheço, e guardo a Sua palavra. 56 Seu pai Abraão se regozijou ao ver o Meu dia; ele viu e se alegrou".

54 Jesus answered, "If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing; it is my Father who glorifies me—about whom you say that he is your God. 55 You have not known him, but I know him. If I would say, 'I do not know him,' I would be like you, a liar. However, I know him and keep his word. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced at seeing my day; he saw it and was glad."

57 Os judeus disseram: "Tu não tens nem cinquenta anos de idade, e viste Abraão?". 58 Jesus lhes respondeu: "Em verdade, em verdade, vos digo que antes que Abraão existisse, EU SOU". 59 Então, pegaram pedras para apedrejá-Lo, mas Jesus escondeu-Se e saiu do templo.

57 The Jews said to him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and you have seen Abraham?" 58 Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM." 59 Then they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.
