1 Eu vos disse essas coisas para não tropeçardes. 2 Eles vos expulsarão das sinagogas. De fato, está chegando a hora em que todo aquele que vos matar pensará que oferece um culto a Deus.

1 "I have spoken these things to you so that you will not fall away. 2 They will throw you out of the synagogues. But the hour is coming when everyone who kills you will think that he is offering a service to God.

3 Eles farão isso porque não conhecem nem o Pai, nem a Mim. 4 Eu vos disse essas coisas para que, quando a hora chegar, vos lembreis de como Eu vos falei a respeito delas. Eu não vos disse isso no princípio porque Eu estava convosco.

3 They will do these things because they have not known the Father nor me. 4 I have spoken these things to you so that when their hour comes, you will remember that I told you about them. I did not tell you about these things in the beginning, because I was with you.

5 Contudo, agora Eu vou para Aquele que Me enviou; e ainda nenhum de vós Me perguntais: 'Para onde vais?'. 6 Mas porque Eu vos disse essas coisas, a tristeza encheu o vosso coração. 7 Contudo, Eu vos digo a verdade: é melhor para vós que Eu vá; pois se Eu não for, o Consolador não virá a vós; mas se Eu for, O enviarei a vós.

5 But now I go to him who sent me, yet none of you asks me, 'Where are you going?' 6 But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. 7 But truly I tell you, it is better for you that I go away. For if I do not go away, the Comforter will not come to you, but if I go, I will send him to you.

8 Quando o Consolador vier, convencerá o mundo a respeito do pecado, da justiça e do juízo. 9 Do pecado, porque eles não creram em Mim; 10 da justiça, porque Eu vou para o Pai, e vós não Me vereis mais; 11 e do juízo, porque o príncipe deste mundo já está julgado.

8 When he comes, the Comforter will prove the world to be wrong about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment— 9 about sin, because they do not believe in me; 10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, and you will no longer see me; 11 and about judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

12 Ainda tenho muitas coisas para vos dizer; mas não as entenderíeis agora. 13 Contudo, quando Ele, o Espírito da Verdade, vier, Ele vos guiará em toda a verdade; pois não falará de Si mesmo; mas Ele dirá tudo o que ouvir, e vos anunciará as coisas que estão por vir. 14 Ele Me glorificará, porque receberá do que é Meu, e vos anunciará.

12 I have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 But when he, the Spirit of Truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak from himself. But he will say whatever he hears, and he will tell you things that are to come. 14 He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and he will tell it to you.

15 Tudo quanto o Pai tem é Meu; por isso, Eu disse que o Espírito receberá do que é Meu, e vos anunciará. 16 Dentro de um pouco de tempo, vós não Me vereis; e depois de um pouco mais de tempo, de novo Me vereis”.

15 Everything that the Father has is mine. Therefore, I said that the Spirit will take from what is mine and he will tell it to you. 16 In a short amount of time you will no longer see me, and after another short amount of time you will see me."

17 Então, alguns dos Seus discípulos disseram uns aos outros: "O que é isto que Ele nos diz: 'Um pouco de tempo e vós não Me vereis', e ainda, 'Um pouco mais de tempo, e de novo Me vereis,' e, 'Porque Eu vou para o Pai'?". 18 Por isso, disseram: "O que é isto que Ele diz: 'Um pouco de tempo'? Nós não sabemos do que Ele está falando".

17 Then some of his disciples said to one another, "What is this that he says to us, 'A short amount of time you will no longer see me and after another short amount of time you will see me,' and, 'Because I go to the Father'?" 18 Therefore they said, "What is this that he says, 'A short amount of time'? We do not know what he is talking about."

19 Jesus viu que queriam interrogá-Lo, e lhes disse: "Perguntais entre vós a respeito disso que Eu vos disse: 'Dentro de um pouco de tempo, vós não Me vereis; e depois um pouco de mais de tempo, de novo Me vereis'? 20 Em verdade, em verdade, vos digo, vós chorareis e lamentareis, mas o mundo se alegrará; vós ficareis tristes, mas a vossa tristeza se transformará em alegria. 21 Uma mulher fica triste quando tem dores de parto porque seu tempo de dar à luz chegou; mas depois que ela deu à luz, não se lembra mais das suas dores, por causa da alegria de ter nascido um bebê no mundo.

19 Jesus saw that they wanted to ask him, and he said to them, "Is this what you are asking each other, what I meant by saying, 'In a short amount of time and you will no longer see me, and again in a short amount of time and you will see me'? 20 Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will be glad. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy. 21 When a woman gives birth she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers her tribulation because of her joy that a man has been born into the world.

22 Assim, também vós tendes tristeza agora, mas Eu vos verei novamente; e o vosso coração se alegrará, e ninguém poderá tirar vossa alegria. 23 Naquele dia, vós não Me perguntareis nada. Em verdade, em verdade, vos digo, se pedirdes qualquer coisa ao Pai em Meu nome, Ele vos dará. 24 Até agora não Me pedistes nada em Meu nome; pedi e recebereis, para que a vossa alegria seja completa.

22 So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your heart will be glad, and no one will be able to take away your joy from you. 23 On that day you will not ask me anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask anything of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. 24 Until now you have not asked anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy will be fulfilled.

25 Eu vos disse essas coisas por meio de comparações; mas está chegando a hora em que não falarei mais por comparações, mas claramente anunciarei sobre o Pai.

25 "I have said these things to you in figures of speech, but the hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures of speech, but instead I will tell you plainly about the Father.

26 Naquele dia, vós pedireis em Meu nome, e Eu não vos digo que rogarei ao Pai por vós; 27 pois o próprio Pai vos ama, porque tendes Me amado e crido que Eu vim do Pai. 28 Eu vim do Pai para o mundo; novamente, Eu deixo o mundo e vou para o Pai".

26 On that day you will ask in my name and I do not say to you that I will pray to the Father for you, 27 for the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and because you have believed that I came from God. 28 I came from the Father, and I have come into the world. Again, I am leaving the world and I am going to the Father."

29 Seus discípulos disseram: "Eis que agora falas claramente; e não usas comparações. 30 Agora sabemos que Tu conheces todas as coisas, e que não precisas que ninguém Te faça perguntas. Por causa disso, cremos que vieste de Deus. 31 Jesus lhes respondeu: "Agora, credes?.

29 His disciples said, "See, now you are speaking plainly and you are not using figures of speech. 30 Now we know that you know all things, and you do not need anyone to ask you questions. Because of this, we believe that you have come from God." 31 Jesus answered them, "Do you believe now?

32 Eis que vem a hora, e de fato já chegou, em que vós sereis espalhados cada um para vossas próprias casas, e Me deixareis sozinho. Mas não estou sozinho, porque o Pai está comigo. 33 Eu vos disse essas coisas para que tenhais paz em Mim. No mundo tereis aflições, mas tende coragem; Eu venci o mundo".

32 See, the hour is coming, yes, and has indeed come, when you will be scattered, everyone to his own home, and you will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone because the Father is with me. 33 I have spoken these things to you so that you will have peace in me. In the world you have tribulation, but have courage, I have conquered the world."
