1 No princípio Aquele que é a Palavra já existia; e a Palavra estava com Deus; e a Palavra era Deus. 2 Ele estava desde o princípio com Deus. 3 Todas as coisas foram feitas por intermédio Dele, e sem Ele nada do que foi feito se fez.

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 This one was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him there was not one thing made that has been made.

4 Nele estava a vida, e a vida era a luz dos homens. 5 A luz brilha nas trevas, e as trevas não prevaleceram contra ela.

4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.

6 Houve um homem enviado por Deus cujo nome era João. 7 Ele veio como testemunha para testificar a respeito da Luz, para que todos cressem por meio dele. 8 Ele não era a Luz, mas veio a fim de testificar da Luz.

6 There was a man who was sent from God, whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify about the light, that all might believe through him. 8 John was not the light, but came that he might testify about the light.

9 Era a verdadeira Luz, que ilumina todo homem, que estava chegando ao mundo.

9 The true light, which gives light to all men, was coming into the world.

10 Ele estava no mundo, e o mundo foi feito por Ele, mas o mundo não O conheceu. 11 Veio para o que era Seu, e os Seus não O receberam.

10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world did not know him. 11 He came to his own, and his own did not receive him.

12 Mas a todos que O receberam, os quais creram no Seu nome, deu-lhes o poder de se tornarem filhos de Deus, 13 os quais não nasceram do sangue, nem da vontade da carne, nem da vontade de homem, mas de Deus.

12 But to as many as received him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. 13 These were not born of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

14 E a Palavra tornou-Se carne e habitou entre nós, e vimos a Sua glória, como a glória do Unigênito do Pai, cheio de graça e de verdade. 15 João testifica Dele e clama, dizendo: "Este é Aquele de quem eu disse: 'O que vem depois de mim é superior a mim, pois era antes de mim’”.

14 The Word became flesh and lived among us. We have seen his glory, glory as of the one and only who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 John testified about him and cried out, saying, "This was the one of whom I said, 'He who comes after me is greater than I am, for he was before me.'"

16 Porque da Sua plenitude todos recebemos graça sobre graça. 17 Pois a Lei foi dada por meio de Moisés, mas a graça e a verdade vieram por meio de Jesus Cristo. 18 Ninguém jamais viu a Deus. O único que, sendo Deus, estava junto ao seio do Pai, foi quem O revelou.

16 For from his fullness we have all received grace after grace. 17 For the law was given through Moses. Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father's side, he has made God known.

19 E este é o testemunho de João, quando os judeus lhe enviaram de Jerusalém sacerdotes e levitas a fim de interrogá-lo: "Quem és tu?". 20 Ele afirmou claramente e não negou, mas confessou: "Eu não sou o Cristo". 21 Então lhe perguntaram: "Quem és tu, então? Tu és Elias?". Ele respondeu: "Não sou". Eles disseram: "Tu és o profeta?". Ele respondeu: "Não".

19 This is the testimony of John when the Jews sent priests and Levites to him from Jerusalem to ask him, "Who are you?" 20 He confessed—he did not deny, but confessed—"I am not the Christ." 21 So they asked him, "What are you then? Are you Elijah?" He said, "I am not." They said, "Are you the prophet?" He answered, "No."

22 Então lhe disseram: "Diga-nos quem és, para que demos resposta àqueles que nos enviaram. O que dizes de ti mesmo?". 23 Ele disse: "Eu sou a voz daquele que clama no deserto: 'Endireitai o caminho do Senhor', como o profeta Isaías disse".

22 Then they said to him, "Who are you, so that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?" 23 He said, "I am a voice, crying in the wilderness: 'Make the way of the Lord straight,'\m just as Isaiah the prophet said."

24 E aqueles que foram enviados eram dos fariseus. 25 E lhe perguntaram: "Então, por que batizas, se não és o Cristo, nem Elias e nem o profeta?".

24 Now some from the Pharisees were sent, 25 and they asked him and said to him, "Why do you baptize then if you are not the Christ nor Elijah nor the prophet?"

26 João lhes respondeu: "Eu batizo com água; porém, no meio de vós, está Alguém que não conheceis. 27 Esse é o que vem depois de mim, de Quem eu não sou digno de desatar as correias de Suas sandálias". 28 Essas coisas aconteceram em Betânia, no outro lado do Jordão, onde João estava batizando.

26 John answered them, saying, "I baptize with water. But among you stands someone you do not know. 27 He is the one who comes after me, the strap of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie." 28 These things were done in Bethany on the other side of the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

29 No dia seguinte, João viu Jesus aproximando-Se dele, e disse: "Eis o Cordeiro de Deus que tira o pecado do mundo! 30 Foi a respeito Dele que eu disse: 'Aquele que vem depois de mim é superior a mim, pois existia antes de mim'. 31 Eu não O conhecia, mas, para que Ele fosse revelado a Israel, eu vinha batizando com água".

29 The next day John saw Jesus coming to him and said, "Look, there is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! 30 This is the one of whom I said, 'The one who comes after me is more than me, for he was before me.' 31 I did not know him, but it was so that he could be revealed to Israel that I came baptizing with water."

32 João testemunhou: "Eu vi o Espírito descendo do céu como pomba, e permaneceu sobre Ele. 33 Eu não O conhecia; porém, Aquele que me enviou a batizar com água, disse-me: 'Aquele sobre Quem vires o Espírito descer e permanecer sobre Ele, Este é o que batiza com o Espírito Santo'. 34 Eu vi e testemunhei que Esse é o Filho de Deus".

32 John testified, saying, "I saw the Spirit coming down like a dove from heaven, and it stayed upon him. 33 I did not recognize him, but he who sent me to baptize in water said to me, 'The one on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain, he is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.' 34 I have both seen and testified that this is the Son of God."

35 No dia seguinte, João estava lá novamente com dois de seus discípulos; 36 e, ao ver Jesus passando, disse: "Eis o Cordeiro de Deus!".

35 Again, the next day, as John was standing with two of his disciples, 36 they saw Jesus walking by, and John said, "Look, the Lamb of God!"

37 Os dois discípulos ouviram o que João disse, e passaram a seguir Jesus. 38 Jesus voltou-Se, viu que eles O seguiam, e disse-lhes: "O que quereis?". Eles responderam: "Rabi (que quer dizer 'mestre'), onde moras?". 39 Ele diz-lhes: "Vinde e vereis". Foram, pois, e viram onde Jesus morava; e permaneceram com Ele naquele dia, pois já se aproximava da hora décima.

37 His two disciples heard him say this and they followed Jesus. 38 Then Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them, "What are you looking for?" They replied, "Rabbi" (which is translated "Teacher"), "where are you staying?" 39 He said to them, "Come and see." Then they came and saw where he was staying; they stayed with him that day, for it was about the tenth hour.

40 André, irmão de Simão Pedro, era um dos que ouviram João falar e seguiram a Jesus. 41 Ele encontrou primeiro seu próprio irmão, Simão, e lhe disse: "Encontramos o Messias" (que traduzido significa 'Cristo'). 42 Ele o levou a Jesus. Olhando para ele, Jesus lhe disse: "Tu és Simão, filho de João. Serás chamado Cefas (que quer dizer 'Pedro')".

40 One of the two who heard John speak and then followed Jesus was Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter. 41 He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, "We have found the Messiah" (which translated is: Christ). 42 He brought him to Jesus, and Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas" (which is translated Peter).

43 No dia seguinte, quando Jesus foi para a Galileia, encontrou Filipe e lhe disse: "Segue-Me". 44 Filipe era de Betsaida, a cidade de André e Pedro. 45 Filipe encontrou Natanael e disse-lhe: "Aquele sobre O qual a Lei de Moisés e os profetas escreveram, nós O encontramos: Jesus, Filho de José, de Nazaré".

43 The next day, when Jesus wanted to leave to go to Galilee, he found Philip and said to him, "Follow me." 44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 45 Philip found Nathaniel and said to him, "He of whom Moses wrote in the law, and the prophets, we have found him: Jesus son of Joseph, from Nazareth."

46 Natanael perguntou: "Pode vir alguma coisa boa de Nazaré?". Filipe respondeu: "Vem e vê". 47 Jesus viu Natanael se aproximando, e disse a seu respeito: "Eis aí um israelita em quem não há desonestidade!". 48 Natanael Lhe perguntou: "De onde me conheces?". Jesus respondeu: "Antes que Filipe te chamasse, Eu te vi, quando estavas debaixo da figueira".

46 Nathaniel said to him, "Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see." 47 Jesus saw Nathaniel coming to him and said about him, "See, a true Israelite, in whom is no deceit!" 48 Nathaniel said to him, "How do you know me?" Jesus answered and said to him, "Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you."

49 Natanael respondeu: "Rabi, Tu és o Filho de Deus! Tu és o Rei de Israel!". 50 Então Jesus lhe disse: "Porque te disse que havia te visto debaixo da figueira, crês? Tu verás coisas maiores do que essa. 51 Em verdade, em verdade vos digo que vós vereis os céus abertos, e os anjos de Deus subindo e descendo sobre o Filho do Homem".

49 Nathaniel replied, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!" 50 Jesus replied and said to him, "Because I said to you, 'I saw you underneath the fig tree,' do you believe? You will see greater things than this." 51 Then he said, "Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see the heavens opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man."
