1 Yahweh disse a Moisés: "Vê, Eu te tenho feito como um deus diante de Faraó. Arão, teu irmão, será o teu profeta. 2 Tu dirás tudo o que Eu te ordenar dizer. Arão, teu irmão, falará a Faraó para que ele deixe o povo de Israel partir de sua terra.

1 Yahweh said to Moses, "See, I have made you like a god to Pharaoh. Aaron your brother will be your prophet. 2 You will say everything that I command you to say. Aaron your brother will speak to Pharaoh so that he will let the people of Israel go from his land.

3 Mas Eu endurecerei o coração de Faraó, e manifestarei muitos sinais do Meu poder e muitas maravilhas na terra do Egito. 4 Mas Faraó não te ouvirá. Então Eu colocarei Minha mão sobre o Egito e tirarei Meus batalhões, o Meu povo, os descendentes de Israel. Eu os tirarei da terra do Egito por meio de grandes atos de juízo. 5 Os egípcios saberão que Eu sou Yahweh, quando Eu estender a Minha mão sobre o Egito e tirar os israelitas do meio deles".

3 But I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and I will display many signs of my power, many wonders, in the land of Egypt. 4 But Pharaoh will not listen to you, so I will put my hand on Egypt and bring out my groups of fighting men, my people, the people of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great acts of punishment. 5 The Egyptians will know that I am Yahweh when I reach out with my hand on Egypt and bring out the Israelites from among them."

6 Assim, Moisés e Arão fizeram; justamente como Yahweh lhes havia ordenado. 7 Moisés tinha oitenta anos, e Arão, oitenta e três, quando falaram a Faraó.

6 Moses and Aaron did so; they did just as Yahweh commanded them. 7 Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron eighty-three years old when they spoke to Pharaoh.

8 Yahweh falou a Moisés e a Arão: 9 "Quando Faraó vos disser: 'Fazei um milagre', então tu dirás a Arão: 'Toma tua vara e lança-a diante de Faraó, para que se transforme numa serpente'". 10 Então, Moisés e Arão foram a Faraó e fizeram exatamente conforme Yahweh havia ordenado. Arão lançou sua vara diante de Faraó e seus servos, e ela se transformou numa serpente.

8 Yahweh said to Moses and to Aaron, 9 "When Pharaoh says to you, 'Do a miracle,' then you will say to Aaron, 'Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh, so that it may become a snake.'" 10 Then Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh, and they did just as Yahweh had commanded. Aaron threw down his staff before Pharaoh and his servants, and it became a snake.

11 Então, Faraó também chamou os seus sábios e feiticeiros. Eles fizeram a mesma coisa por meio de sua feitiçaria. 12 Cada um deles lançou sua vara ao solo, e elas se transformaram em serpentes. Porém a vara de Arão devorou as serpentes deles. 13 O coração de Faraó se endureceu e ele não os ouviu, assim como Yahweh havia dito.

11 Then Pharaoh also called for his wise men and sorcerers. They did the same thing by their magic. 12 Each man threw down his staff, and the staffs became snakes. But Aaron's staff swallowed up their snakes. 13 Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he did not listen, just as Yahweh had foretold.

14 Yahweh disse a Moisés: "O coração de Faraó está endurecido e ele se recusa a deixar o povo ir. 15 Vai a Faraó pela manhã, quando ele estiver junto às águas. Fica à beira do rio, para encontrá-lo, e leva na mão a vara que se transformou numa serpente.

14 Yahweh said to Moses, "Pharaoh's heart is hard, and he refuses to let the people go. 15 Go to Pharaoh in the morning when he goes out to the water. Stand on the riverbank to meet him, and take in your hand the staff that had turned into a snake.

16 Diz a ele: 'Yahweh, o Deus dos hebreus, enviou-me a ti para dizer-te: "Deixa o meu povo ir, e, assim, eles poderão me adorar no deserto. Até agora, tu não tens nos ouvido". 17 Yahweh disse: "Assim, saberás que Eu sou Yahweh. Eu ferirei a água do rio Nilo com a vara que está em Minha mão, e o rio se transformará em sangue. 18 Os peixes que estiverem no rio morrerão, e o rio cheirará mal. Os egípcios não conseguirão beber a água do rio'".

16 Say to him, 'Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to you to say, "Let my people go, so that they may worship me in the wilderness. Until now you have not listened." 17 Yahweh says this: "By this you will know that I am Yahweh. I am going to strike the water of the Nile River with the staff that is in my hand, and the river will be turned to blood. 18 The fish that are in the river will die, and the river will stink. The Egyptians will not be able to drink water from the river."'"

19 E, então, Yahweh disse a Moisés: "Diz a Arão: 'Toma a tua vara e estende tua mão sobre as águas do Egito, sobre os seus rios, sobre seus canais, sobre suas lagoas e sobre todas as suas poças d'água, para que suas águas se transformem em sangue. Faz isso e, então, haverá sangue por toda a terra do Egito, até mesmo nas vasilhas de madeira e de pedra'".

19 Then Yahweh said to Moses, "Say to Aaron, 'Take your staff and reach out with your hand over the waters of Egypt, and over their rivers, streams, pools, and all their ponds, so that their water may become blood. Do this so that there will be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, even in containers of wood and stone.'"

20 Moisés e Arão fizeram como Yahweh havia ordenado. Arão levantou a vara e feriu a água no rio, diante de Faraó e de seus servos. Toda a água do rio se transformou em sangue. 21 Os peixes morreram e o rio começou a cheirar mal. Os egípicios não podiam beber da água do rio, e o sangue estava por todo lugar na terra do Egito. 22 Mas os feiticeiros do Egito fizeram a mesma coisa com a sua feitiçaria. Assim, o coração de Faraó se endureceu e ele se recusou a ouvir Moisés e Arão, exatamente como Yahweh havia dito que aconteceria.

20 Moses and Aaron did as Yahweh commanded. Aaron raised the staff and struck the water in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh and his servants. All the water in the river turned to blood. 21 The fish in the river died, and the river began to stink. The Egyptians could not drink water from the river, and the blood was everywhere in the land of Egypt. 22 But the magicians of Egypt did the same thing with their magic. So Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he refused to listen to Moses and Aaron, just as Yahweh had said would happen.

23 E assim Faraó virou-se e foi para a sua casa. Ele nem mesmo considerou o caso. 24 Todos os egípcios cavaram ao redor do rio procurando água para beber, porém não puderam beber da água do rio. 25 E sete dias se passaram depois de Yahweh ter ferido o rio.

23 Then Pharaoh turned and went into his house. He did not even pay attention to this. 24 All the Egyptians dug around the river for water to drink, but they could not drink the water of the river itself. 25 Seven days passed after Yahweh had attacked the river.
