1 Deus falou a Moisés: 2 "Dize aos israelitas que eles devem retornar e acampar diante de Pi Hairote, entre Migdol e o mar, antes de Baal Zefom. Vós acampareis junto ao mar, oposto a Pi Hairote. 3 Faraó dirá sobre vós, israelitas, 'Eles estão vagando pela terra. Ficaram presos no deserto'.

1 Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 2 "Say to the Israelites that they should turn and camp before Pi Hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, before Baal Zephon. You are to camp by the sea opposite Pi Hahiroth. 3 Pharaoh will say about the Israelites, 'They are wandering in the land. The wilderness has closed in on them.'

4 Eu endurecerei o coração de Faraó, e ele os perseguirá. Serei honrado por causa de Faraó e seu exército. Os egípcios saberão que Eu sou Yahweh." Então os israelitas acamparam como haviam sido instruídos. 5 Quando o rei do Egito foi informado de que os israelitas haviam fugido, os pensamentos de Faraó e de seus servos voltaram-se contra o povo. Eles disseram: "O que fizemos nós, deixando Israel livre de nos servir?"

4 I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and he will pursue them. I will get honor because of Pharaoh and all his army. The Egyptians will know that I am Yahweh." So the Israelites camped as they were instructed. 5 When the king of Egypt was told that the Israelites had fled, the minds of Pharaoh and his servants turned against the people. They said, "What have we done? We have released Israel from serving us."

6 Então Faraó preparou suas carruagens e tomou seu exército com ele. 7 Tomou seiscentas carruagens selecionadas e outras carruagens do Egito, todas com seus oficiais. 8 Yahweh endureceu o coração de Faraó, rei do Egito, e o rei perseguiu os israelitas. Os israelitas haviam saído triunfantes. 9 Mas os egípcios os perseguiram, com seus cavalos e carruagens, seus cavaleiros e seu exército. Eles alcançaram os israelitas no acampamento junto ao mar, ao lado de Pi Hairote, antes de Baal Zefom.

6 Then Pharaoh got his chariots ready and took his army with him. 7 He took six hundred chosen chariots and all the other chariots of Egypt, with officers on all of them. 8 Yahweh hardened the heart of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and the king pursued the Israelites. Now the Israelites had gone away in triumph. 9 But the Egyptians pursued them, together with all his horses and chariots, his horsemen, and his army. They overtook the Israelites camping by the sea beside Pi Hahiroth, before Baal Zephon.

10 Quando Faraó se aproximou, os israelitas olharam e ficaram surpresos. Os egípcios estavam marchando atrás deles; e ficaram apavorados. Os israelitas clamaram a Deus. 11 Eles disseram a Moisés: "É porque não havia túmulos no Egito que nos trouxeste para morrer no deserto? Por que nos trataste assim, tirando-nos do Egito? 12 Não foi isso o que te dissemos? Nós te dissemos : 'Deixa-nos em paz, então poderemos servir aos egípcios. Teria sido melhor para nós trabalhar para eles do que morrer no deserto'".

10 When Pharaoh came close, the Israelites looked up and were surprised. The Egyptians were marching after them, and they were terrified. The Israelites cried out to Yahweh. 11 They said to Moses, "Is it because there were no graves in Egypt, that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you treated us like this, bringing us out of Egypt? 12 Is this not what we told you in Egypt? We said to you, 'Leave us alone, so we can work for the Egyptians.' It would have been better for us to work for them than to die in the wilderness."

13 Moisés disse ao povo: "Não temais. Permanecei firmes e vede o livramento que Yahweh proverá para vós hoje. Pois nunca mais vereis novamente os egípcios que vedes hoje. 14 Yahweh lutará por vós, apenas permanecereis firmes"

13 Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand still and see the rescue that Yahweh will provide for you today. For you will never see again the Egyptians whom you see today. 14 Yahweh will fight for you, and you will only have to stand still."

15 Então Deus disse a Moisés: " Moisés, por que continuas clamando a mim? Dize aos israelitas para irem em frente. 16 Levanta o teu cajado, estende a tua mão sobre o mar e divide-o em dois, para que o povo de Israel atravesse o mar em terra seca. Sabe que endurecerei os corações dos egípcios, para os perseguir. 17 Serei honrado por causa de Faraó e todo seu exército, suas carruagens e seus cavaleiros. 18 Então os egípcios saberão que Eu sou Yahweh quando Eu for honrado por causa de Faraó, suas carruagens e seus cavaleiros."

15 Then Yahweh said to Moses, "Why are you, Moses, continuing to call out to me? Tell the Israelites to go forward. 16 Lift up your staff, reach out with your hand over the sea and divide it in two, so that the people of Israel may go through the sea on dry ground. 17 Be aware that I will harden the Egyptians' hearts so they will go after them. I will get honor because of Pharaoh and all his army, his chariots, and his horsemen. 18 Then the Egyptians will know that I am Yahweh when I have gotten honor because of Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen."

19 O anjo de Deus, que ia à frente dos israelitas, foi para trás deles. A coluna de nuvem, que ia à frente deles, ficou atrás. 20 A nuvem ficou entre o acampamento dos egípcios e o acampamento dos israelitas. E era uma nuvem escura para os Egípcios, mas iluminava a noite para os Israelitas. Então um lado não se aproximou do outro durante toda noite.

19 The angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them. The pillar of cloud moved from before them and went to stand behind them. 20 The cloud came between the camp of Egypt and the camp of Israel. It was a dark cloud to the Egyptians, but it lit the night for the Israelites, so one side did not come near the other all night.

21 Moisés estendeu sua mão sobre o mar. Com um forte vento oriental, durante toda aquela noite, Yahweh recolheu e dividiu as águas do mar, tornando-o terra seca. 22 Os Israelitas atravessaram pelo meio do mar em solo seco. As águas formaram uma muralha para eles, tanto do seu lado direito quanto do lado esquerdo.

21 Moses reached out with his hand over the sea. Yahweh drove the sea back by a strong east wind all that night and made the sea into dry land. In this way the waters were divided. 22 The Israelites went into the middle of the sea on dry ground. The waters formed a wall for them on their right hand and on their left.

23 Os egípcios os perseguiram. Eles foram atrás dos israelitas para o meio do mar - com todos os cavalos, carruagens e cavaleiros de Faraó. 24 Mas, ao amanhecer, Yahweh impediu o exército egípcio através da coluna de fogo e da nuvem. Ele trouxe pânico entre os egípcios. 25 As rodas de suas carruagens ficaram travadas, e seus cavaleiros guiavam com dificuldade. 23 The Egyptians pursued them. They went after them into the middle of the sea—all Pharaoh's horses, chariots, and horsemen. 24 But in the early morning hours, Yahweh looked down on the Egyptian army through the pillar of fire and cloud. He caused panic among the Egyptians. 25 Their chariot wheels were clogged, and the horsemen drove with difficulty. So the Egyptians said, "Let us flee from Israel, for Yahweh is fighting for them against us."

26 Yahweh disse a Moisés: "Estende tua mão sobre o mar para que as águas voltem sobre os egípcios, suas carruagens e cavaleiros". 27 Então Moisés estendeu sua mão sobre o mar, e as águas voltaram ao curso normal quando amanheceu. Os egípcios tentaram fugir de dentro do mar, mas Yahweh lançou-os para o meio dele. 28 As águas voltaram e cobriram as carruagens, os cavaleiros de Faraó e seu exército inteiro que tinha seguido as carruagens até o mar. Ninguém sobreviveu.

26 Yahweh said to Moses, "Reach out with your hand over the sea so that the waters may come back onto the Egyptians, their chariots, and their horsemen." 27 So Moses reached out with his hand over the sea, and it returned to its normal course when the morning appeared. The Egyptians fled into the sea, and Yahweh drove the Egyptians into the middle of it. 28 The waters came back and covered Pharaoh's chariots, horsemen, and his entire army that had followed the chariots into the sea. No one survived.

29 No entanto os israelitas caminharam por terra seca no meio do mar. As águas eram uma muralha para eles, tanto do lado direito quanto do esquerdo. 30 Assim Yahweh livrou Israel das mãos dos egípcios naquele dia, e Israel viu os corpos deles à beira-mar. 31 Quando Israel viu o grande poder que Deus usou contra os egípcios, o povo honrou a Yahweh e confiou em Deus e em seu servo Moisés.

29 However, the Israelites walked on dry land in the middle of the sea. The waters were a wall for them on their right hand and on their left. 30 So Yahweh saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw dead Egyptians on the seashore. 31 When Israel saw the great power that Yahweh used against the Egyptians, the people honored Yahweh, and they trusted in Yahweh and in his servant Moses.
