1 Estas são as últimas palavras de Davi — Davi, filho de Jessé, o homem que foi altamente honrado, aquele que foi ungido pelo Deus de Jacó, o amável salmista de Israel: 2 "O Espírito de Yahweh falou por mim, e Sua palavra estava em minha boca.

1 Now these are the last words of David— the declaration of David son of Jesse, the declaration of the man who was highly honored, the one anointed by the God of Jacob, the sweet psalmist of Israel. 2 "The Spirit of Yahweh spoke by me, and his word was on my tongue.

3 O Deus de Israel falou, a Rocha de Israel me disse: 'Aquele que governa corretamente sobre os homens, que governa no temor de Deus, 4 é como a luz da manhã quando o sol nasce, como uma manhã sem nuvens, quando a tenra grama nasce na terra, através da brilhante luz do sol, depois da chuva'.

3 The God of Israel spoke, the Rock of Israel said to me, 'The one who rules righteously over men, who rules in the fear of God. 4 He will be like the morning light when the sun rises, a morning without clouds, when the tender grass springs up from the earth through bright sunshine after rain.

5 De fato, minha família não é assim diante de Deus? Não fez Ele um pacto eterno comigo, ordenando segurança por todo o caminho? Não me dará Ele êxito?

5 Indeed, is my family not like this before God? Has he not made an everlasting covenant with me, ordered and sure in every way? Does he not increase my salvation and fulfill my every desire?

6 Porém, o indigno será como espinhos para serem lançados fora, porque não podem ser colhidos com as mãos. 7 O homem que os tocar deve usar uma ferramenta de ferro, ou o cabo de uma lança. Devem ser queimados onde se encontram".

6 But the worthless will all be like thorns to be thrown away, because they cannot be gathered by one's hands. 7 The man who touches them must use an iron tool or the shaft of a spear. They must be burned up where they lie.'"

8 Estes são os nomes dos soldados de elite de Davi: Josebe-Bassete, o taquemonita, era o líder dos soldados de elite; ele matou oitocentos homens em certa ocasião.

8 These are the names of David's mighty men: Josheb-Basshebeth the Tahkemonite, was the leader of the officers. He killed eight hundred men on one occasion. [[ Instead of " Josheb-Basshebeth " , some Hebrew copies and some ancient translations have " Ishbaal " , or " Ish-Bosheth " . These all are probably forms of the same name. ]]

9 Depois dele, estava Eleazar, filho de Dodô, um dos três poderosos homens de Davi. Estava presente quando desafiaram os filisteus que haviam se concentrado para batalhar, quando os homens de Israel retrocederam. 10 Eleazar se levantou e combateu os filisteus até sua mão ficar cansada, e ficar grudada no cabo de sua espada. Yahweh trouxe uma grande vitória naquele dia. O exército retornou após Eleazar, apenas para despojar os corpos.

9 After him was Eleazar son of Dodai the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men. He was with David when they taunted the Philistines who had gathered together to do battle, and when the men of Israel had retreated. 10 Eleazar stood and fought the Philistines until his hand became weary and his hand stiffened to the grip of his sword. Yahweh brought about a great victory that day. The army returned after Eleazar, only to strip the bodies.

11 Depois dele, era Samá, filho de Agé, o hararita. Os filisteus se concentraram onde havia um campo de lentilhas, e o exército fugiu deles. 12 Porém, Samá se levantou no meio do campo e o defendeu. Ele matou os filisteus, e Yahweh trouxe grande vitória.

11 After him was Shammah son of Agee, a Hararite. The Philistines gathered together where there was a field of lentils, and the army fled from them. 12 But Shammah stood in the middle of the field and defended it. He killed the Philistines, and Yahweh brought about a great victory.

13 Três dos trinta soldados desceram a Davi no tempo da colheita, na caverna de Adulão. O exército dos filisteus estava acampado no vale de Refaim. 14 Naquele tempo, Davi estava em sua fortaleza, uma caverna, enquanto os filisteus se estabeleceram em Belém.

13 Three of the thirty soldiers went down to David at harvest time, to the cave of Adullam. The army of the Philistines was camped in the Valley of Rephaim. 14 At that time David was in his stronghold, a cave, while the Philistines had established at Bethlehem.

15 Davi estava desejoso por água, e disse: "Se ao menos alguém me desse água para beber do poço em Belém, o poço que está perto do portão!". 16 Então, esses três poderosos homens romperam por entre o exército dos filisteus, e tiraram água do poço de Belém, o poço do portão. Pegaram a água e a levaram a Davi; este, porém, recusou-se a beber. Ao invés disso, ele a derramou para Yahweh. 17 Então, ele disse: "Longe de mim, Yahweh, que eu fizesse isso. Deveria eu beber o sangue de homens que arriscaram suas vidas?". Assim, ele se recusou a beber. Essas são coisas que os três homens poderosos fizeram.

15 David was longing for water and said, "If only someone would give me water to drink from the well at Bethlehem, the well that is by the gate!" 16 So these three mighty men broke through the army of the Philistines and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, the well at the gate. They took the water and brought it to David, but he refused to drink it. Instead, he poured it out to Yahweh. 17 Then he said, "Yahweh, far be it from me, that I should do this. Should I drink the blood of men who have risked their lives?" So he refused to drink it.\m These things were done by the three mighty.

18 Abisai, irmão de Joabe e filho de Zeruia, era o capitão sobre os três. Uma vez, combateu com sua lança contra trezentos homens, e os matou. Foi mencionado muitas vezes com os três soldados. 19 Não era ainda mais famoso do que os três? Foi feito capitão deles. De qualquer forma, sua fama não se igualava à fama dos três soldados mais famosos.

18 Abishai, brother of Joab and son of Zeruiah, was captain over the three. He once fought with his spear against three hundred men and killed them. He was renowned along with the three soldiers. 19 Was he not even more famous than the three? He was made their captain. However, his fame did not equal the fame of the three most famous soldiers.

20 Benaia, de Cabzeel, era filho de Joiada; ele era um homem forte que realizou poderosos feitos. Matou os dois filhos de Ariel, de Moabe. Também desceu em uma cova e matou um leão, enquanto nevava. 21 Matou um homem egípcio muito grande. O egípcio tinha uma lança em sua mão, e Benaia o combateu com apenas um cajado. Ele arrancou a lança da mão do egípcio, e o matou com ela.

20 Benaiah from Kabzeel was the son of Jehoiada; he was a strong man who did mighty feats. He killed the two sons of Ariel of Moab. He also went down into a pit and killed a lion while it was snowing. 21 Then he killed a very large Egyptian man. The Egyptian had a spear in his hand, but Benaiah fought against him with only a staff. He seized the spear out of the Egyptian's hand and then killed him with his own spear.

22 Benaia, filho de Joiada, realizou esses feitos e foi nomeado ao lado dos três homens poderosos. 23 Foi mais estimado que os trinta soldados em geral, mas não foi tão estimado quanto os três soldados de elite. Ainda assim, Davi o colocou encarregado de sua guarda.

22 Benaiah son of Jehoiada did these feats, and he was named alongside the three mighty men. 23 He was more highly regarded than the thirty soldiers in general, but he was not regarded quite as highly as the three mighty men. Yet David put him in charge of his bodyguard.

24 Os trinta incluíam os seguintes homens: Asael, irmão de Joabe; Elanã, filho de Dodô, de Belém; 25 Samá, o harodita; Elica, o harodita; 26 Heles, o paltita; Ira, filho de Iques, o tecoíta; 27 Abiezer, o anatotita; Mebunai, o husatita; 28 Zalmon, o aoíta; Maarai, o netofatita;

24 The thirty included the following men: Asahel brother of Joab, Elhanan son of Dodo from Bethlehem, 25 Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite, 26 Helez the Paltite, Ira son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, 27 Abiezer the Anathothite, Sibbekai [[ Some copies of the ancient Greek translation taken from the ancient Hebrew copies, have the name " Sibbekai," see also 2 Samuel 21:18 and 1 Chronicles 11:29. Come of the copies have " Mebunnai " . ]] the Hushathite, 28 Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite;
