1 Quando Davi havia subido uma pequena distância do topo da montanha, Ziba, o servo de Mefibosete, veio ao seu encontro com dois jumentos selados. Sobre os jumentos, havia duzentos pães, cem cachos de passas, cem cachos de figo e um recipiente de couro com vinho. 2 O rei disse a Ziba: "Por que trouxeste estas coisas?". Ziba respondeu: "Os jumentos são para o transporte da família do rei, o pão e os cachos de figo são para teus homens comerem e o vinho é para beberem aqueles que estão debilitados no deserto".

1 When David had gone a short distance over the summit of the hill, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him with a couple of saddled donkeys; on them were two hundred loaves of bread, one hundred clusters of raisins, and one hundred bunches of figs, and a skin of wine. 2 The king said to Ziba, "Why did you bring these things?" Ziba replied, "The donkeys are for the king's household to ride on, the bread and fig cakes are for your young men to eat, and the wine is for anyone who is faint in the wilderness to drink."

3 O rei disse: "E onde está o neto de teu senhor?". Ziba respondeu: "Ele ficou em Jerusalém, dizendo: 'Hoje, a casa de Israel restaurará, para mim, o reino de meu pai'". 4 Então, o rei disse a Ziba: "Tudo o que pertencia a Mefibosete agora pertence a ti". Ziba respondeu: "Eu me prostro humildemente a ti, meu senhor e rei. Que eu encontre favor aos teus olhos".

3 The king said, "Then where is your master's grandson?" Ziba replied to the king, "Look, he has stayed behind in Jerusalem, for he said, 'Today the house of Israel will restore my father's kingdom to me.'" 4 Then the king said to Ziba, "Look, all that belonged to Mephibosheth now belongs to you." Ziba answered, "I bow in humility to you, my master, king. Let me find favor in your eyes."

5 Quando o rei Davi se aproximou de Baurim, de lá saiu um homem do clã de Saul, cujo nome era Simei, filho de Gera. Este saiu amaldiçoando enquanto andava. 6 Atirava pedras em Davi e em todos os oficiais do rei, apesar do exército e dos guarda-costas que estavam à direita e à esquerda do rei.

5 When King David approached Bahurim, there came out from there a man from the clan of Saul, whose name was Shimei son of Gera. He came out cursing as he walked. 6 He threw stones at David and at all of the king's servants, in spite of the people and mighty men who were on the king's right and left.

7 Simei gritava amaldiçoando: "Vai embora, sai daqui, vilão sanguinário! 8 Yahweh retribuiu a todos vós pelo sangue da família de Saul, cujo trono tomaste. Yahweh entregou o reino nas mãos de Absalão, teu filho. Agora, tu estás arruinado, pois és um homem sanguinário".

7 Shimei called out in cursing, "Go away, get out of here, you man of blood, you worthless man! 8 Yahweh has repaid all of you for the blood you shed within the family of Saul, in whose place you have reigned. Yahweh has given the kingdom into the hand of Absalom your son. You have come to ruin because you are a man of blood."

9 Então, Abisai, filho de Zeruia, disse ao rei: "Por que deveria este cachorro morto amaldiçoar meu senhor, o rei? Por favor, deixa-me ir lá e tirar a cabeça dele". 10 Mas o rei disse: "O que tenho convosco, filhos de Zeruia? Talvez ele esteja me amaldiçoando porque Yahweh lhe disse: 'Amaldiçoa Davi'. Quem, então, poderia lhe dizer: "Por que estás amaldiçoando o rei?".

9 Then Abishai son of Zeruiah, said to the king, "Why should this dead dog curse my master the king? Please let me go over and take off his head." 10 But the king said, "What have I to do with you, sons of Zeruiah? Perhaps he is cursing me because Yahweh has said to him, 'Curse David.' Who then could say to him, 'Why are you cursing the king?'"

11 Então, Davi disse a Abisai e a todos os seus servos: "Se meu filho, que foi gerado do meu corpo, quer tirar-me a vida, quanto mais este benjamita pode, agora, desejar minha ruína? Deixai-o sozinho e que amaldiçoe, pois Yahweh lhe ordenou que fizesse isso. 12 Talvez, Yahweh verá a miséria lançada sobre mim, e me retribuirá com bondade pela sua maldição deste dia".

11 So David said to Abishai and to all his servants, "Look, my son, who was born from my body, wants to take my life. How much more may this Benjamite now desire my ruin? Leave him alone and let him curse, for Yahweh has commanded him to do it. 12 Perhaps Yahweh will look at the misery unleashed on me, and repay me with good for his cursing me today."

13 Então, Davi e seus homens viajaram pela estrada, enquanto Simei o seguia, na encosta do monte, amaldiçoando e lançando areia e pedras nele. 14 Então, o rei e todas as pessoas que estavam com ele ficaram cansadas. O rei descansou quando pararam à noite.

13 So David and his men traveled on the road, while Shimei went beside him up on the hillside, cursing and throwing dust and stones at him as he went. 14 Then the king and all the people who were with him became weary, and he rested when they stopped for the night.

15 Quanto a Absalão e todos os homens de Israel que estavam com ele, chegaram a Jerusalém. E Aitofel estava com eles. 16 Quando Husai, o arquita, amigo de Davi, encontrou Absalão, disse-lhe: "Vida longa para o rei! Vida longa para o rei!".

15 As for Absalom and all the people of the men of Israel who were with him, they came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel was with him. 16 It came about when Hushai the Arkite, David's friend, had come to Absalom, that Hushai said to Absalom, "Long live the king! Long live the king!"

17 Absalão disse a Husai: "Esta é a tua lealdade para com teu amigo? Por que não foste com ele?". Husai disse a Absalão: 18 "Não. O único a quem Yahweh escolheu, assim como o povo, e todos os homens de Israel, esse é o homem a quem eu pertencerei, e permanecerei com ele.

17 Absalom said to Hushai, "Is this your loyalty to your friend? Why did you not go with him?" 18 Hushai said to Absalom, "No! Instead, the one whom Yahweh and this people and all the men of Israel have chosen, that is the man to whom I will belong, and I will stay with him.

19 Também, a que homem eu deveria servir? Não deveria servir na presença de seu filho? Assim como eu servi na presença de teu pai, eu servirei em tua presença".

19 Also, what man should I serve? Should I not serve in the presence of his son? As I have served in your father's presence, I will serve in your presence."

20 Então, Absalão disse a Aitofel: "Dá-nos o teu conselho sobre o que deveríamos fazer". 21 Aitofel respondeu: "Dorme com as concubinas de teu pai, as quais ele deixou para cuidar do palácio, e todo o Israel ouvirá que te tornaste detestável diante de teu pai. Então, as mãos de todos os que estão contigo se fortalecerão".

20 Then Absalom said to Ahithophel, "Give us your advice about what we should do." 21 Ahithophel answered Absalom, "Go to your father's concubines, whom he has left to keep the palace, and all Israel will hear that you have become a stench to your father. Then the hands of all who are with you will be strong."

22 Assim, eles armaram uma tenda para Absalão no terraço do palácio, e Absalão dormiu com as concubinas de seu pai diante dos olhos de todo o Israel. 23 Os conselhos que Aitofel dava naqueles dias eram como se um homem os ouvisse da boca do próprio Deus. Assim eram vistos todos os conselhos de Aitofel, tanto por Davi como por Absalão.

22 So they spread for Absalom a tent on the top of the palace, and Absalom went to his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel. 23 Now the advice of Ahithophel that he gave in those days was as if a man heard from the mouth of God himself. That was how all of Ahithophel's advice was viewed by both David and Absalom.
