1 O povo da terra tomou Jeoacaz, filho de Josias, e o fez rei em Jerusalém, no lugar de seu pai. 2 Jeoacaz começou a reinar em Jerusalém quando tinha vinte três anos de idade. Reinou apenas três meses,

1 Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz son of Josiah, and made him king in his father's place in Jerusalem. 2 Jehoahaz [[ " Jehoahaz " is written in Hebrew as " Joahaz, " but refers to the same person. ]] was twenty-three years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.

3 porque o rei do Egito o removeu de Jerusalém e impôs ao povo um tributo de cem talentos de prata e um talento de ouro. 4 E o rei do Egito deu a Eliaquim, irmão de Jeoacaz, o reinado sobre Judá e Jerusalém além de mudar seu nome para Jeoaquim. Quanto a Jeoacaz, Neco o prendeu e o levou para o Egito.

3 The king of Egypt removed him at Jerusalem, and fined the land one hundred talents of silver and one talent of gold. 4 The king of Egypt made Eliakim, who was the brother of Jehoahaz, king over Judah and Jerusalem (and changed Eliakim's name to Jehoiakim). Then Necho took Eliakim's brother Jehoahaz and brought him to Egypt.

5 Jeoaquim começou a reinar quando tinha vinte e cinco anos e reinou durante onze anos em Jerusalém. Ele praticou o que era mau aos olhos de Yahweh, seu Deus. 6 Então, Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, o atacou e o prendeu em correntes, a fim de levá-lo para a Babilônia. 7 Nabucodonosor também carregou alguns objetos do templo de Yahweh para a Babilônia e os colocou em seu palácio.

5 Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. He did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh his God. 6 Then Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, attacked him and bound him in chains to lead him away to Babylon. 7 Nebuchadnezzar also carried some of the objects in the house of Yahweh to Babylon, and put them in his palace at Babylon.

8 Os demais assuntos relacionados a Jeoaquim, as coisas abomináveis que ele praticou e o que mais lhe aconteceu estão escritos no livro dos reis de Israel e Judá. Então, Joaquim, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.

8 As for the other matters concerning Jehoiakim, the disgusting things that he did, and what was found against him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel. Then Jehoiachin, his son, became king in his place.

9 Joaquim, quando começou a reinar, tinha oito anos de idade; reinou durante três meses e dez dias em Jerusalém. Ele praticou o que era mau aos olhos de Yahweh. 10 Na primavera, o rei Nabucodonosor enviou homens e o trouxe para Babilônia, com os utensílios valiosos do templo de Yahweh; o rei da Babilônia constituiu Zedequias para substituir seu irmão Joaquim como rei sobre Judá e Jerusalém.

9 Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign; he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem. He did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh. 10 In the spring, King Nebuchadnezzar sent men and brought him to Babylon, with the valuable things from the house of Yahweh, and made Zedekiah, his relative, king over Judah and Jerusalem.

11 Zedequias, quando começou a reinar, tinha vinte e um anos de idade. Reinou por onze anos em Jerusalém. 12 Ele praticou o que era mau aos olhos de Yahweh, seu Deus. Não se humilhou diante de Jeremias, o profeta, que falou palavras enviadas pela boca de Yahweh.

11 Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he began to reign; he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. 12 He did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh his God. He did not humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet, who spoke from the mouth of Yahweh.

13 Zedequias também rebelou-se contra Nabucodonosor, que o tinha feito jurar lealdade perante Deus. Com o coração obstinado e endurecido, Zedequias não se converteu a Yahweh, o Deus de Israel. 14 Além disso, as transgressões de todos os líderes dos sacerdotes e do povo aumentavam mais e mais, pois imitavam as práticas repugnantes das nações pagãs. Eles contaminaram o templo de Yahweh, que Ele tinha santificado para Si, em Jerusalém.

13 Zedekiah also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear loyalty to him by God. But Zedekiah stiffened his neck and hardened his heart against turning to Yahweh, the God of Israel. 14 Moreover, all the leaders of the priests and the people were extremely unfaithful, and they followed the disgusting practices of the nations. They polluted the house of Yahweh which he had consecrated in Jerusalem.

15 Yahweh, o Deus de seus pais, falou-lhes repetidas vezes, insistindo em adverti-los por meio de Seus mensageiros, porque Ele tinha compaixão do Seu povo e do lugar da Sua habitação. 16 Porém, eles zombaram dos mensageiros de Deus, desprezaram Suas palavras e ridicularizavam Seus profetas, provocando a ira de Yahweh, que se inflamou contra Seu povo, até que não houvesse mais remédio.

15 Yahweh, the God of their ancestors, sent word to them by his messengers again and again, because he had compassion on his people and on the place where he lives. 16 But they mocked God's messengers, despised his words, and scoffed at his prophets, until the wrath of Yahweh arose against his people, until there was no help for it.

17 Por isso, Deus trouxe sobre eles o rei dos caldeus, que matou os seus jovens à espada no santuário e não poupou jovens, nem virgens, nem homens velhos, nem homens com cabelos grisalhos. Deus os entregou a todos nas mãos dele.

17 So God brought on them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the sanctuary, and had no compassion on young men or virgins, old men or the gray-haired. God gave them all into his hand.

18 Ele levou para a Babilônia todos os utensílios grandes e pequenos do templo de Deus, os tesouros da habitação de Yahweh e os tesouros do rei e seus oficiais. 19 Eles incendiaram o templo de Deus, destruíram os muros de Jerusalém, queimaram todos os palácios e destruíram todas as coisas belas que havia ali.

18 All the furnishings of the house of God, great and small, the treasures of the house of Yahweh, and the treasures of the king and his officials—all these he took to Babylon. 19 They burned down the house of God, broke down the wall of Jerusalem, burned all its palaces, and destroyed all the valuable things in it.

20 O rei levou para a Babilônia todos aqueles que escaparam da espada. Foram feitos escravos do rei e de seus filhos até o tempo do reino da Pérsia. 21 Isso aconteceu para que se cumprisse a palavra de Yahweh pela boca de Jeremias: "até que a terra receba compensação por seus sábados, durante todo o tempo em que ela repousar, até que se cumpram os setenta anos".

20 The king carried away to Babylon those who had escaped the sword. They became servants for him and his sons until the rule of the kingdom of Persia. 21 This happened to fulfill the word of Yahweh by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land should have enjoyed its Sabbath rests. It observed its Sabbath for all the time of its desolation so that it might pass seventy years in this way.

22 No primeiro ano de Ciro, o rei da Pérsia, cumpriu-se a palavra de Yahweh dita pela boca de Jeremias. Yahweh despertou o espírito de Ciro, o rei da Pérsia, e este mandou proclamar por todo o seu reino — e o fez também por escrito — o seguinte decreto: 23 "Isto é o que Ciro, o rei da Pérsia, diz: 'Yahweh, o rei dos céus, entregou-me todos os reinos da terra. Ele me encarregou de construir uma templo para Si em Jerusalém, que fica em Judá. Quem dentre vós pertence ao Seu povo fique livre para ir, e que Yahweh, vosso Deus, esteja convosco'".

22 Now in the first year of Cyrus, king of Persia, so that the word of Yahweh by the mouth of Jeremiah might be carried out, Yahweh motivated the spirit of Cyrus, king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing. He said, 23 "This is what Cyrus, king of Persia, says: Yahweh, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth. He has commanded me to build a house for him in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whoever is among you from all his people, may Yahweh your God, be with you. Let him go up to the land."
