1 Salomão determinou a construção de uma casa ao nome de Yahweh e a construção de um palácio para seu reino. 2 Salomão designou setenta mil homens para o carregamento, oitenta mil homens como cortadores de madeira nas montanhas e três mil e seiscentos homens para os supervisionarem. 3 Salomão enviou uma mensagem a Hirão, rei de Tiro, dizendo: "Assim como tu fizeste com Davi meu pai, enviando-lhe cedros para construir uma casa para morar, faça o mesmo comigo.

1 Now Solomon commanded the building of a house for Yahweh's name and the building of a palace for his kingdom. 2 Solomon assigned seventy thousand men to carry loads, and eighty thousand men as stonecutters in the mountains, and 3,600 men to supervise them. 3 Solomon sent a message to Hiram, the king of Tyre, saying, "As you did with David my father, sending him cedar logs to build a house to live in, do the same with me.

4 Vê, eu vou construir uma casa ao nome de Yahweh, meu Deus, para dedicar a Ele, para queimar diante Dele especiarias de aroma suave, apresentar continuamente o pão da proposição e para queimar ofertas nas manhãs e ao entardecer, aos sábados, nas luas novas e nas festas fixas de Yahweh, nosso Deus. Esta lei será eterna para Israel. 5 A casa que construirei será bem grande, porque o nosso Deus é maior que todos os outros deuses.

4 See, I am about to build a house for the name of Yahweh my God, to set it apart to him, to burn incense of sweet spices before him, to set out the bread of the presence, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the Sabbaths and on the new moons, and on the appointed feasts for Yahweh our God. This is forever, for Israel. 5 The house that I will build will be very large, for our God is greater than all other gods.

6 Mas quem é capaz de construir a Deus uma casa, sendo que o universo inteiro e todo o céu não podem contê-lo? Quem sou eu para lhe construir uma casa, a não ser que seja para queimar sacrifícios? 7 Então, envia-me um homem que seja habilidoso no trabalho com ouro, prata, bronze, ferro, e tecido púrpura, carmesim e lã azul, um homem que saiba como fazer todo tipo de entalhe em madeira. Ele se juntará aos especialistas que estão comigo em Judá e Jerusalém, os quais meu pai, Davi, providenciou.

6 But who is able to build God a house, since the entire universe and even heaven itself cannot contain him? Who am I to build him a house, except to burn sacrifices before him? 7 So send me a man who is skilled at work in gold, silver, bronze, iron, and in purple, crimson, and blue wool, a man who knows how to make all kinds of engraved wood. He will be with the skilled men who are with me in Judah and Jerusalem, whom David my father provided.

8 Me mande também cedro, ciprestes e sândalo do Líbano, pois eu sei que os teus servos sabem como cortar mandeira do Líbano. Vê, meus servos estarão com teus servos, 9 para preparar para mim madeira em abundância, pois a casa a qual eu estou construindo será grande e maravilhosa. 10 Vê, eu darei para teus servos, os homens que cortarão madeira, vinte mil coros de trigo malhado, vinte mil coros de cevada, vinte mil batos de vinho e vinte mil batos de óleo".

8 Send me also cedar, cypress, and algum trees from Lebanon,for I know that your servants know how to cut timber in Lebanon. See, my servants will be with your servants, 9 in order to prepare for me timber in abundance, for the house which I am about to build will be great and marvelous. 10 See, I will give to your servants, the men who will cut the timber, twenty thousand cors of ground wheat, twenty thousand cors of barley, twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil." [[ Some translations compare this section with 1 Kings 5:11 where the Hebrew reads: " twenty thousand cors of wheat as food " . ]]

11 Então Hirão, o rei de Tiro, respondeu a Salomão: "Porque Yahweh ama Seu povo, Ele tem te feito rei sobre ele". 12 Além disso, Hirão disse: "Abençoado seja Yahweh, o Deus de Israel, que fez o céu e a terra, que deu a Davi, o rei, um filho sábio, presentando-o com prudência e entendimento, o qual construirá uma casa para Yaweh e uma casa para seu reino.

11 Then Hiram, the king of Tyre, answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon: "Because Yahweh loves his people, he has made you king over them." 12 In addition, Hiram said, "Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, who made heaven and earth, who has given to David the king a wise son, gifted with prudence and understanding, who will build a house for Yahweh and a royal palace for himself.

13 Agora, tenho te enviado um homem talentoso, dotado de inteligência, Hurão-Abi, meu especialista. 14 Ele é o filho de uma mulher das filhas de Dã. Seu pai foi um homem de Tiro. Ele é habilidoso para trabalhar com ouro, prata, bronze, ferro, pedra, com madeira e com tecido de púrpura, lãs carmesim e azul, e linho fino. Ele também é talentoso para fazer qualquer tipo de entalhe e também projetos. Coloque-o para trabalhar entre os teus especialistas e também com os trabalhadores do meu senhor, Davi, teu pai.

13 Now I have sent a skillful man, Huram-Abi, who is gifted with understanding. 14 He is the son of a woman of the daughters of Dan. His father was a man from Tyre. He is skilled at work in gold, silver, bronze, iron, stone, and in timber, and in purple, blue, and crimson wool, and fine linen. He is also skilled in making any kind of engraving and in making any kind of design. Let a place be made for him among your skilled workers, and with those of my master, David, your father.

15 Agora, então, o trigo e a cevada, o óleo e o vinho, os quais meu senhor havia dito, deixe-me enviar essas coisas a teus servos. 16 Nós iremos cortar madeira do Líbano, o quanto lhe for necessário. Nós a levaremos por jangadas pelo mar até Jope e tu a transportarás para Jerusalém". 17 Salomão contou todos os estrangeiros que estavam na terra de Israel, segundo o método que Davi seu pai, já havia feito. Eles encontraram cento e cinquenta e três mil, e seiscentos. 18 Ele designou setenta mil dos seus como carregadores, oitenta mil como cortadores de madeira nas montanhas e três mil e seiscentos como supervisores, para fazerem o povo trabalhar.

15 Now then, the wheat and the barley, the oil and the wine, of which my master has spoken, let him send these things to his servants. 16 We will cut wood from Lebanon, as much wood as you need. We will take it to you as rafts by sea to Joppa, and you will carry it up to Jerusalem."

17 Solomon counted all the foreigners who were in the land of Israel, following the method that David, his father, had counted them. They were found to be 153,600. 18 He assigned seventy thousand of them to carry loads, eighty thousand to be stonecutters in the mountains, and 3,600 to be supervisors to put the people to work.
