1 Quando Davi estava velho e perto do final de sua vida, ele fez seu filho Salomão, rei sobre Israel. 2 Ele reuniu todos os líderes de Israel, com os sacerdotes e levitas. 3 Os levitas que tinham trinta anos ou mais foram contados, o número total foi de trinta e oito mil.

1 When David was old and near the end of his life, he made Solomon his son king over Israel. 2 He gathered together all the leaders of Israel, with the priests and Levites. 3 The Levites who were thirty years old and older were counted in a census, and they numbered thirty-eight thousand.

4 "Destes, vinte e quatro mil supervisionaram o trabalho da casa de Yahweh, e seis mil foram oficiais e juízes. 5 Quatro mil foram porteiros; e quatro mil louvavam Yahweh com instrumentos que eu fiz para a adoração.", disse Davi. 6 Davi os dividiu em grupos que correspondiam aos filhos de Levi: Gérson, Coate e Merari.

4 "Of these, twenty-four thousand were to oversee the work on the house of Yahweh, and six thousand were officers and judges. 5 Four thousand were gatekeepers, and four thousand were to praise Yahweh with the instruments that I made to give praise," David said. 6 David divided them into groups that corresponded to Levi's sons: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

7 Dos clãs decendentes de Gérson, havia Ladã e Simei. 8 Havia três filhos de Ladã: Jeiel, o chefe, Zetão e Joel. 9 Havia três filhos de Simei: Selomite, Haziel e Arã. Esses foram os líderes do clã de Ladã.

7 From the clans descended from Gershon, there were Ladan and Shimei. 8 There were three of Ladan's sons: Jehiel the leader, Zetham, and Joel. 9 There were three of Shimei's sons: Shelomoth, Haziel, and Haran. These were the leaders of the clans of Ladan.

10 Havia quatro filhos de Simei: Jaate, Ziza, Jeús e Berias. 11 Jaate era o mais velho, e Ziza o segundo, mas Jeús e Berias não tiveram muitos filhos, então, eram considerados como um único clã com as mesmas obrigações.

10 There were four of Shimei's sons: Jahath, Ziza, Jeush, and Beriah. 11 Jahath was the oldest, and Ziza the second, but Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons, so they were considered as one clan with the same duties.

12 Havia quatro filhos de Coate: Anrão, Izar, Hebrom e Uziel. 13 Estes eram os filhos de Anrão: Arão e Moisés. Arão foi escolhido para consagrar as coisas santíssimas, e ele e seus descendentes ofereceriam incenso diante de Yahweh, O serviriam e pronunciariam bençãos em Seu nome, para sempre. 14 Mas, quanto a Moisés, homem de Deus, seus filhos foram considerados levitas.

12 There were four of Kohath's sons: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel. 13 These were Amram's sons: Aaron and Moses. Aaron was chosen to set apart the most holy things, that he and his descendants would offer incense before Yahweh, to serve him and to give blessings in his name forever. 14 But as for Moses the man of God, his descendants were counted with the tribe of Levi.

15 Os filhos de Moisés foram Gérson e Eliézer. 16 O descendente de Gérson foi Sebuel, o mais velho. 17 O descendente de Eliézer foi Reabias. Eliézer não teve outros filhos, mas Reabias teve muitos descendentes. 18 O descendente de Izar foi Selomite, o líder.

15 Moses's sons were Gershom and Eliezer. 16 Gershom's descendant was Shubael the oldest. 17 Eliezer's descendant was Rehabiah. Eliezer had no other sons, but Rehabiah had many descendants. 18 Izhar's son was Shelomith the leader.

19 Os descendentes de Hebrom foram Jerias, o mais velho; Amarias, o segundo; Jaaziel, o terceiro; e Jecameão, o quarto. 20 Os filhos de Uziel foram Mica, o mais velho, e Issias, o segundo.

19 Hebron's descendants were Jeriah, the oldest, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth. 20 Uzziel's sons were Micah the oldest, and Ishiah the second.

21 Os filhos de Merari foram Mali e Musi. Os filhos de Mali foram Eleazar e Quis. 22 Eleazar morreu sem ter filhos. Ele teve apenas filhas. Os filhos de Quis casaram com elas. 23 Os três filhos de Musi foram Mali, Eder e Jerimote.

21 Merari's sons were Mahli and Mushi. Mahli's sons were Eleazar and Kish. 22 Eleazar died without having any sons. He had only daughters. The sons of Kish married them. 23 Mushi's three sons were Mahli, Eder, and Jerimoth.

24 Estes foram os descendentes de Levi correspondentes aos seus clãs. Eles eram os líderes, contados e listados pelo nome, do clãs que trabalhavam no serviço da Casa de Yahweh, de trinta anos para cima. 25 Davi disse: "Yahweh, o Deus de Israel, deu descanso ao Seu povo. Ele estabelece a Sua Casa em Jerusalém para sempre. 26 Os levitas não precisarão mais carregar o Tabernáculo nem os utensílios usados para seu serviço".

24 These were Levi's descendants corresponding to their clans. They were the leaders, counted and listed by name in the census, of the clans that did the work in the service of the house of Yahweh, from twenty years old and upward. 25 For David said, "Yahweh, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people. He makes his home in Jerusalem forever. 26 The Levites will no longer need to carry the tabernacle and all the equipment used in its service."

27 Pelas últimas palavras de Davi, os levitas foram contados, de vinte anos de idade para cima. 28 O dever deles era auxiliar os descendentes de Arão no serviço da Casa de Yahweh. Eles cuidavam dos pátios, dos aposentos, da purificação cerimonial de todas as coisas pertencentes a Yahweh, e outras obras a serviço da casa de Deus. 29 Eles também tomavam conta dos Pães da Proposição, e do trigo fino para as ofertas de cereal, dos pães sem fermento e ofertas assadas, das ofertas misturadas com óleo, e todo tipo de medidas e pesos das coisas.

27 For by David's last words the Levites were counted, from twenty years old and upward. 28 Their duty was to assist Aaron's descendants in the service of the house of Yahweh. They were to care for the courtyards, the rooms, the ceremonial purification of all the things that belong to Yahweh, and other work in the service of the house of God. 29 They also took care of the bread of the presence, the fine flour for grain offerings, the unleavened wafers, the baked offerings, the offerings mixed with oil, and all the measuring of the amounts and sizes of things.

30 Eles também se levantavam toda manhã para agradecer e adorar Yahweh. Eles faziam isso também ao entardecer 31 e sempre que holocaustos eram oferecidos para Yahweh, no sábado, nas Festas de Lua Nova e nos dias de celebração. Um número fixo, designado por decreto, sempre tinha que estar presente diante de Yahweh.

30 They also stood every morning to thank and praise Yahweh. They also did this in the evening 31 and whenever burnt offerings were offered to Yahweh, on the Sabbath and at the new moon festivals and feast days. A fixed number, assigned by decree, always had to be present before Yahweh.

32 Eles estavam no comando da Tenda do Encontro, o Santo Lugar, e ajudavam seus companheiros, descendentes de Arão, no serviço da Casa de Yahweh.

32 They were in charge of the tent of meeting, the holy place, and helped their fellow descendants of Aaron in the service of the house of Yahweh.
