1 Aconteceu que, após o rei ter se estabelecido em sua casa, ele disse ao profeta Natã: "Olha, eu estou morando em uma casa de cedro, mas a Arca da Aliança de Yahweh está sob uma tenda". 2 Então, Natã disse a Davi: "Vai e faz o que está em teu coração, pois Deus é contigo".

1 It happened that after David had settled in his house, he said to Nathan the prophet, "Look, I am living in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of Yahweh is staying under a tent." 2 Then Nathan said to David, "Go, do what is in your heart, for God is with you."

3 Mas, naquela mesma noite, a palavra de Deus veio a Natã, dizendo: 4 "Vai e diz a Meu servo Davi: 'Assim diz Yahweh: Tu não construirás uma casa para Eu morar, 5 pois Eu não morei em casa alguma desde o dia em que tirei Israel do Egito até o dia de hoje. Em vez disso, tenho morado em uma tenda, um tabernáculo, em vários lugares. 6 Em todos os lugares para os quais Me mudei, entre todo o Israel, porventura, falei alguma palavra aos líderes de Israel que designei para pastorear o Meu povo, dizendo: 'Por que não Me edificaste uma casa de cedro?"'.

3 But that same night the word of God came to Nathan, saying, 4 "Go and tell David my servant, 'This is what Yahweh says: You will not build me a house in which to live. 5 For I have not lived in a house from the day that I brought up Israel to this present day. Instead, I have been living in a tent, a tabernacle, in various places. 6 In all places I have moved among all Israel, did I ever say anything to any of Israel's judges, whom I appointed to shepherd my people, saying, "Why have you not built me a house of cedar?"'"

7 Agora, pois, diz a Meu servo Davi: 'Assim diz Yahweh dos Exércitos: "Eu te tirei da pastagem, de andar atrás das ovelhas, para que fosses governador do Meu povo Israel. 8 Eu tenho estado contigo por onde quer que foste e tenho eliminado todos os teus inimigos de diante de ti, e farei teu nome tão grande quanto o nome dos maiores líderes na Terra;

7 "Now then, tell my servant David, 'This is what Yahweh of hosts says: I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, so that you would be ruler over my people Israel. 8 I have been with you wherever you went and have cut off all your enemies from before you, and I will make you a name, like the name of the great ones who are on the earth.

9 Eu designarei um lugar para Meu povo Israel e o plantarei lá para que possam viver em seu próprio lugar e não sejam mais perturbados; não serão mais oprimidos por perversos, como antes, 10 desde os dias em que ordenei juízes sobre o Meu povo Israel. Então, Eu subjugarei todos os teus inimigos; também te digo, que Eu, Yahweh, edificarei uma casa para ti.

9 I will appoint a place for my people Israel and will plant them there, so that they may live in their own place and be troubled no more. No longer will wicked people oppress them, as they did before, 10 as they were doing from the days that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. Then I will subdue all your enemies. Moreover I tell you that I, Yahweh, will build you a house.

11 Quando teus dias forem cumpridos para ires a teus pais, suscitarei um descendente depois de ti, um dos teus filhos, e Eu estabelecerei o seu reino; 12 ele construirá uma casa para Mim e Eu estabelecerei o trono dele para sempre.

11 It will come about that when your days are fulfilled for you to go to your fathers, I will raise up your descendant after you, and for one of your own descendants, I will establish his kingdom. 12 He will build me a house, and I will establish his throne forever.

13 Eu lhe serei por Pai e ele será Meu filho; não retirarei dele Minha misericórdia, como a retirei de Saul, que governou antes de ti; 14 Eu o confirmarei na Minha casa em Meu reino para sempre, seu trono será estabelecido para sempre"'. 15 Natã falou a Davi, relatou-lhe todas essas palavras e lhe contou toda a visão.

13 I will be a Father to him, and he will be my son. I will not take my covenant faithfulness away from him, as I took it from Saul, who ruled before you. 14 I will set him over my house and in my kingdom forever, and his throne will be established forever.'" 15 Nathan spoke to David and reported to him all these words, and he told him about the entire vision.

16 Então, o rei Davi entrou, ficou diante de Yahweh e disse: "Quem sou eu, Deus Yahweh, e quem é minha família para que me tenhas trazido até aqui? 17 Pois isso foi pouco aos Teus olhos, Deus, falar sobre a família de Teu servo sobre um maravilhoso futuro, e me mostrar as gerações futuras, Deus Yahweh. 18 Que mais posso eu, Davi, dizer a Ti? Tens honrado Teu servo. Tu tens dado reconhecimento especial ao Teu servo.

16 Then David the king went in and sat before Yahweh; he said, "Who am I, Yahweh God, and what is my family, that you have brought me to this point? 17 For this was a small thing in your sight, God. You have spoken of your servant's family for a great while to come, and have shown me future generations, Yahweh God. 18 What more can I, David, say to you? You have honored your servant. You have given your servant special recognition.

19 Yahweh, por causa de Teu servo e para cumprir Teu propósito, tens feito grandes coisas para revelar todos os Teus grandes feitos. 20 Yahweh, não há ninguém como Tu e não há outro Deus além de Ti, assim como sempre ouvimos. 21 Que nação na Terra é como Teu povo Israel a quem Tu, Deus, resgataste do Egito para ser Teu povo, e engrandeceste Teu próprio Nome pelos grandes e maravilhosos feitos? Tu expulsaste nações diante de Teu povo a quem resgataste do Egito.

19 Yahweh, for your servant's sake, and to fulfill your own purpose, you have done this great thing to reveal all your great deeds. 20 Yahweh, there is none like you, and there is no God besides you, just as we have always heard. 21 For what nation on earth is like your people Israel, whom you, God, rescued from Egypt as a people for yourself, to make a name for yourself by great and awesome deeds? You drove out nations from before your people, whom you rescued from Egypt.

22 Fizeste Israel, Teu povo para sempre, e Tu, Yahweh, Te tornaste o seu Deus. 23 Então, agora, Yahweh, que a promessa que fizeste a respeito de Teu servo e sua família, seja estabelecida para sempre. Faze como falaste. 24 Que Teu nome seja estabelecido para sempre e seja engrandecido. Assim, o povo dirá: 'Yahweh dos Exércitos é o Deus de Israel', e que a casa de Teu servo Davi permaneça firme diante de Ti.

22 You made Israel your own people forever, and you, Yahweh, became their God. 23 So now, Yahweh, may the promise that you made concerning your servant and his family be established forever. Do as you have spoken. 24 May your name be established forever and be great, so the people will say, 'Yahweh of hosts is the God of Israel,' while the house of me, David, your servant is established before you.

25 Pois Tu, meu Deus, revelaste a Teu servo que lhe construirás uma casa; por isso encontrei eu, Teu servo, coragem para orar a Ti. 26 Agora, Yahweh, Tu és Deus e tens feito essa boa promessa a Teu servo. 27 Agora, Te agradaste abençoar a casa de Teu servo, e que possa continuar para sempre diante de Ti; pois Tu, Yahweh, a tens abençoado e será abençoada para sempre".

25 For you, my God, have revealed to your servant that you will build him a house. That is why I, your servant, have found courage to pray to you. 26 Now, Yahweh, you are God, and have made this good promise to your servant: 27 Now it has pleased you to bless your servant's house, that it may continue forever before you. You, Yahweh, have blessed it, and it will be blessed forever."
