1 Estes foram os homens que vieram a Davi em Zicagle, enquanto ele ainda estava fugindo da presença de Saul, filho de Quis. Eles estavam entre os soldados, seus ajudantes na batalha; 2 estavam armados com arcos e usavam tanto a mão direita quanto a esquerda para atirar pedras com fundas e flechas com os arcos. 1 These were the men who came to David to Ziklag, while he was still banished from the presence of Saul son of Kish. They were among the soldiers, his helpers in battle. 2 They were armed with bows and could use both the right hand and the left in slinging stones and in shooting arrows from the bow. They were Benjamites, Saul's fellow tribesmen.

8 Some Gadites joined David at the stronghold in the wilderness. They were mighty warriors, men of war, ready for battle, who could handle shield and spear; whose faces were as fierce as the faces of lions. They were as swift as gazelles on the mountains.

9 There were Ezer the leader, Obadiah the second, Eliab the third, 10 Mishmannah the fourth, Jeremiah the fifth, 11 Attai the sixth, Eliel the seventh, 12 Johanan the eighth, Elzabad the ninth, 13 Jeremiah the tenth, Makbannai the eleventh.

14 Esses filhos de Gade foram os líderes do exército; o menor conduzia cem, e o maior conduzia mil. 15 Eles atravessaram o Jordão no primeiro mês, quando transbordava pelas margens, e afugentaram todos os que moravam nos vales, tanto na direção leste quanto na direção oeste.

14 These sons of Gad were leaders of the army. The least led a hundred, and the greatest led a thousand. 15 They crossed the Jordan in the first month, when it overflowed its banks, and caused all those living in the valleys to flee, both toward the east and toward the west.

16 Alguns dos homens de Benjamim e Judá vieram para a fortaleza de Davi. 17 Davi foi ao encontro deles e lhes disse: "Se viestes em paz para me ajudar, podeis vos juntar a mim; mas, se viestes para me entregar para meus adversários, que o Deus de nossos antepassados veja e vos repreenda, já que eu não fiz nada errado".

16 Some of the men of Benjamin and Judah came to the stronghold to David. 17 David went out to meet them and addressed them: "If you have come in peace to me to help me, my heart will be joined with you. But if you have come to betray me to my adversaries, may the God of our ancestors see and rebuke you, since I have done no wrong."

18 Então, o Espírito veio sobre Amasai, que era o chefe dos trinta. Amasai disse: "Nós somos teus, Davi. Estamos do teu lado, filho de Jessé. Paz! Que a paz esteja com quem quer que te ajudar. Que a paz esteja com teus ajudantes, porque o teu Deus está te ajudando". Então, Davi os recebeu e os fez comandantes sobre seus homens.

18 Then the Spirit clothed Amasai, who was chief of the thirty. Amasai said, "We are yours, David. We are on your side, son of Jesse. Peace, may peace be to whoever helps you. May peace be to your helpers, for your God is helping you." Then David received them and made them commanders over his men.

19 Alguns de Manassés se uniram a Davi quando ele veio com os filisteus para a batalha contra Saul. Eles não os ajudaram porque os chefes filisteus se consultaram entre si e mandaram Davi embora. Eles disseram: "Ele irá se unir a Saul, colocando em risco nossas vidas". 20 Quando ele foi a Ziclague, os homens de Manassés que se juntaram a ele foram Adna, Jozabade, Jediael, Micael, Jozabade, Eliú e Ziletai, capitães de milhares de Manassés.

19 Some from Manasseh also deserted to David when he came with the Philistines against Saul to battle. Yet they did not help the Philistines, because the Philistine lords consulted with each other and sent David away. They said, "He will desert to his master Saul at the risk of our lives." 20 When he went to Ziklag, the men of Manasseh who joined him were Adnah, Jozabad, Jediael, Michael, Jozabad, Elihu, and Zillethai, captains over thousands of Manasseh.

21 Eles ajudaram Davi a lutar contra os saqueadores, pois eram homens de guerra. Mais tarde, eles se tornaram comandantes no exército. 22 Dia após dia, chegavam homens para ajudar Davi, até que se formou um grande exército, como o exército de Deus.

21 They helped David fight against the roving bands, for they were mighty warriors. Later they became captains in the army. 22 Day after day, men came to David to help him, until there was a great army, like the army of God.

23 This is the record of the armed soldiers for war, who came to David to Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul over to him, which carried out Yahweh's word. 24 From Judah those who carried shield and spear were 6,800, armed for war. 25 From the Simeonites there were 7,100 mighty warriors trained for war.

26 Dos levitas, eram quatro mil e seiscentos soldados. 27 Joiada era o líder dos descendentes de Arão, e com ele havia três mil e setecentos. 28 Com Zadoque, um homem jovem, forte e corajoso, estavam vinte e dois líderes da familia de seu pai.

26 From the Levites there were 4,600 fighting men. 27 Jehoiada was the leader of Aaron's descendants, and with him were 3,700. 28 With Zadok, a young man, a mighty warrior, were twenty-two leaders from his clan.

29 De Benjamim, tribo de Saul, havia três mil. A maioria deles se manteve fiel a Saul até esse momento. 30 De Efraim, havia vinte mil e oitocentos soldados, homens famosos na família de seus pais. 31 Da meia tribo de Manassés, havia dezoito mil homens famosos, que vieram para tornar Davi rei.

29 From Benjamin, Saul's tribe, were three thousand. Most of them had kept watch over the house of Saul until this time. 30 From the Ephraimites there were 20,800 mighty warriors, men who were famous in their clans. 31 From the half tribe of Manasseh there were eighteen thousand famous men who came to make David king.

32 De Issacar, eram duzentos líderes, conhecedores do tempo e que sabiam o que Israel devia fazer. Todos os seus parentes estavam sob seu comando. 33 De Zebulom, eram cinquenta mil soldados preparados para a batalha, com todas as armas de guerra, e prontos para demonstrar sua total lealdade.

32 From Issachar, there were two hundred leaders who had understanding of the times and knew what Israel ought to do. All their relatives were under their command. 33 From Zebulun there were fifty thousand fighting men, prepared for battle, with all the weapons of war, and ready to give undivided loyalty.

34 De Naftali, havia mil oficiais, e, com eles, trinta e sete mil homens com escudos e lanças. 35 De Dã, havia vinte e oito mil homens preparados para a batalha.

34 From Naphtali there were one thousand officers, and with them thirty-seven thousand men with shields and spears. 35 From the Danites there were 28,600 men prepared for battle.

36 De Aser, havia quarenta mil homens preparados para a batalha. 37 Vindo do outro lado do Jordão, dos rubenitas, gaditas e da meia tribo de Manassés, havia cento e vinte mil homens portando todo tipo de armas para a batalha.

36 From Asher there were forty thousand men of war prepared for battle. 37 From the other side of the Jordan, from the Reubenites, Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, there were 120,000 men armed with all kinds of weapons for war.

38 Todos estes soldados, equipados para a batalha, vieram de Hebrom com a intenção de tornar Davi rei de todo o Israel. O restante de Israel também estava de acordo em tornar Davi rei. 39 Eles estiveram com Davi por três dias, comendo e bebendo, pois seus parentes haviam enviado provisões. 40 Também, os que estavam próximos a eles, e os que estavam longe, como em Issacar, Zebulom e Naftali, trouxeram pães em jumentos, camelos, mulas e bois; bolos de figos, cachos de uvas passas, vinho, óleo, bois e ovelhas, pois Israel estava celebrando.

38 All these soldiers, equipped for battle, came to Hebron with a whole heart to make David king over all Israel. All the rest of Israel were in agreement to make David king also. 39 They were there with David three days, eating and drinking, for their relatives had sent them with provisions. 40 In addition, those who were near to them, as far as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, brought bread on donkeys, camels, mules, and oxen, and cakes of figs, clusters of raisins, wine, oil, cattle and sheep, for there was joy in Israel.
