1 Buscai segurança, povo de Benjamim, deixando Jerusalém. Tocai a trombeta em Tecoa. Levantai um sinal sobre Bete-Haquerém, porque o mal vem surgindo do norte; uma grande destruição está vindo. 2 A filha de Sião, a bela e delicada mulher, será destruída. 3 Contra ela irão os pastores e seus rebanhos; armarão tendas ao seu redor; cada homem apascentará com a sua própria mão.

1 Find safety, people of Benjamin, by leaving Jerusalem. Blow a trumpet in Tekoa. Raise up over Beth Hakkerem a signal, since wickedness is appearing from the north; a great crushing is coming. 2 The daughter of Zion, the beautiful and delicate woman, will be destroyed. 3 The shepherds and their flocks will go to them; they will set up tents against her all around; each man will shepherd with his own hand.

4 Dirão: "Consagrai-vos para a batalha. Levantai-vos, ataquemos ao meio-dia. É muito ruim que a luz do dia esteja esmaecendo, que as sombras da tarde estejam caindo. 5 Mas ataquemos à noite e destruamos a fortaleza dela".

4 "Dedicate yourselves to the gods for the battle. Arise, let us attack at noon. It is too bad that the daylight is fading away, that the evening shadows are falling. 5 But let us attack at night and destroy her fortresses."

6 Pois assim diz Yahweh dos Exércitos: "Cortai suas árvores e levantai rampas de cerco contra Jerusalém. Esta é a cidade certa para se atacar, porque ela está cheia de opressão. 7 Como um poço que faz brotar água fresca, assim esta cidade continua produzindo iniquidade. A violência e a desordem são ouvidas nela. As doenças e as feridas estão, continuamente, diante da Minha face. 8 Aceita a disciplina, Jerusalém, ou Eu Me desviarei de ti e te farei uma ruína, uma terra desabitada".

6 For Yahweh of hosts says this: Cut her trees, and heap up siegeworks against Jerusalem. This is the right city to attack, because it is filled with oppression. 7 As a well pours out fresh water, so this city keeps producing wickedness. Violence and disorder are heard within her; sickness and wounds are continually before my face. 8 Accept discipline, Jerusalem, or I will turn away from you and make you into a ruin, an uninhabited land.'"

9 Assim diz Yahweh dos Exércitos: "Certamente, eles recolherão, como numa vinha, aqueles que restaram em Israel. Examina novamente e estende a tua mão para coletar as uvas que deixou escapar das vinhas. 10 A quem eu devo declarar e advertir para que ouçam? Vede! Seus ouvidos são incircuncisos, eles não são capazes de prestar atenção! Vede! A palavra de Yahweh veio a eles para corrigi-los, mas eles não a quiseram".

9 Yahweh of hosts says this, "They will certainly glean those who are left in Israel like a vineyard. Reach out again with your hand to pick grapes from the vines. 10 To whom should I declare and warn so they will listen? Look! Their ears are uncircumcised; they are not able to pay attention! Look! The word of Yahweh has come to them to correct them, but they do not want it."

11 Mas eu estou cheio com a fúria de Yahweh. Estou cansado de retê-la. Ele me disse: "Derrama-a sobre as crianças nas ruas e nos grupos de jovens. Pois cada homem será levado cativo com sua esposa; e cada idoso e os de idade muito avançada. 12 Suas casas serão dadas a outros, juntamente com seus campos e suas esposas. Pois Eu atacarei os habitantes da terra com a Minha mão — esta é declaração de Yahweh.

11 But I am filled with Yahweh's fury. I am tired of holding it in. He said, to me, "Pour it out on the children in the streets and on the groups of young men. For every man will be taken away with his wife; and every old person heavy with years. 12 Their houses will be turned over to others, both their fields and their wives together. For I will attack the inhabitants of the land with my hand—this is Yahweh's declaration.

13 Desde o menor até o maior, todos eles são ávidos pelo ganho desonesto. Do profeta ao sacerdote, todos eles praticam a falsidade. 14 Eles têm curado as feridas do Meu povo apenas superficialmente, quando dizem: 'Paz, paz!' quando não há paz. 15 Por acaso, eles se envergonharam quando praticaram abominações? Eles não se envergonharam; nem sequer sabem o que é ficar de rosto corado! Por isso, eles cairão entre os que caírem; eles serão derrubados quando forem punidos, diz Yahweh.

13 Yahweh declares that from the least to the greatest, all of them are greedy for dishonest gain. From the prophet to the priest, all of them practice deceit. 14 They have healed the wounds of my people lightly, saying, 'Peace, Peace,' when there is no peace. 15 Were they ashamed when they practiced abominations? They were not ashamed; they did not know how to blush! So they will fall among the fallen; they will be brought down when they are punished, says Yahweh.

16 Assim diz Yahweh: "Ficai de pé na encruzilhada e vede; perguntai pelos caminhos antigos. 'Onde fica o bom caminho?' Então ide por ele e encontrai um lugar de descanso para vós. Mas o povo dirá: 'Não iremos'. 17 Eu designei para ti guardas para ouvirem a trombeta. Mas eles disseram: 'Não ouviremos'. 18 Por isso, nações, ouvi! Vede, vós testemunhas, o que lhes acontecerá. 19 Ouve, ó terra! Vê, Eu trarei o desastre a esse povo, o fruto dos seus pensamentos. Eles não prestaram atenção à Minha palavra ou à lei; pelo contrário, eles a rejeitaram.

16 Yahweh says this, "Stand at the road crossing and look; ask for the ancient pathways. 'Where is this good way?' Then go on it and find a resting place for yourselves. But the people say, 'We will not go.' 17 I appointed for you watchmen to listen for the trumpet. But they said, 'We will not listen.' 18 Therefore, nations, listen! See, you witnesses, what will happen to them. 19 Hear, earth! See, I am about to bring disaster to this people—the fruit of their thoughts. They paid no attention to my word or law, but they instead rejected it.

20 O que este incenso subindo de Sabá significa para Mim? Ou estes cheiros suaves de uma terra distante? Vossos holocaustos não são aceitáveis a Mim, nem o são os vossos sacrifícios". 21 Pois Yahweh diz: "Vê, Eu colocarei uma pedra de tropeço contra este povo. Eles tropeçarão nela, pais e filhos juntamente. Os habitantes e seus vizinhos também perecerão". 22 Assim diz Yahweh: "Vê, um povo está vindo da terra do norte. Pois uma grande nação tem sido provocada para vir de uma terra distante.

20 What does this frankincense going up from Sheba mean to me? Or these sweet smells from a distant land? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable to me, nor are your sacrifices. 21 So Yahweh says this, 'See, I am about to place a stumbling block against this people. They will stumble over it—fathers and sons together. Inhabitants and their neighbors will also perish.' 22 Yahweh says this, 'See, a people is coming from the land of the north, a great nation is being stirred up from the farthest parts of the earth.

23 Eles estarão armados de arcos e lanças. Eles são cruéis e não têm compaixão. Seu som é como o barulho do mar, e estão cavalgando em formação como homens de guerra contra ti, ó filha de Sião." 24 Nós temos ouvido as notícias sobre eles. Nossas mãos caem flácidas de aflição. A angústia se apodera de nós como as dores de uma mulher em trabalho de parto.

23 They will pick up bows and spears. They are cruel and have no compassion. Their sound is like the sea roar, and they are riding on horses, set out in order as men for battle, against you, daughter of Zion.'" 24 We have heard the reports about them and our hands fall limp in distress. Anguish seizes us as a woman giving birth.

25 Não saiais para o campo, nem andeis pelas estradas, pois as espadas do inimigo e o terror estão em todo o redor. 26 "Ó, filha do Meu povo, veste-te de saco, rolando em cinzas, como o funeral de um filho único. Faze para ti um funeral amargo, porque o destruidor virá, repentinamente, sobre nós.

25 Do not go out to the fields, and do not walk on the roads, for the swords of the enemy and terror are all around. 26 Daughter of my people, put on sackcloth and roll in ashes; mourn with painful sobs as for an only son, for the destroyer will suddenly come upon us.

27 "Eu te criei, Jeremias, aquele que examina o Meu povo como quem testa o metal, para que examines e testes o caminho deles. 28 Ele é o mais teimoso dos povos, que sai ao redor difamando os outros. Todos eles são bronze e ferro, agindo corruptamente. 29 Os foles já se queimaram pelo fogo que os aquecia; o chumbo já foi consumido nas chamas. O refino continua entre eles, mas é inútil, porque o mal não é removido. 30 Eles serão chamados prata rejeitada, pois Yahweh os tem rejeitado".

27 "I have made you, Jeremiah, one who tests my people like one would test metal, so you will inspect and test their ways. 28 They are all the most stubborn of people, who go about slandering others. All of them are bronze and iron, acting corruptly. 29 The bellows are scorched by the fire that is burning them; the lead is consumed in the flames. The refining continues among them, but it is useless, because the evil is not removed. 30 They will be called rejected silver, for Yahweh has rejected them."
