1 Correi pelas ruas de Jerusalém, procurai também nas praças da cidade; então, olhai e pensai sobre isto: se puderes achar um homem ou qualquer um que aja com justiça, ou esteja tentando agir fielmente, então, perdoarei Jerusalém. 2 Mesmo que eles digam: 'Tão certo quanto Yahweh vive', ainda assim, estão jurando falsamente". 3 Yahweh, por acaso Teus olhos não buscam fidelidade? Tu golpeias as pessoas, mas elas não sentem dor. Tu os tens derrotado completamente, mas eles ainda se recusam a receber disciplina. Eles tornam suas faces mais duras que a rocha, pois se recusam a se arrepender.

1 "Rush about through the streets of Jerusalem; search in her city squares, too. Then look and think about this: If you can find a man or anyone who is acting justly and trying to act faithfully, then I will forgive Jerusalem. 2 Although they say, 'As Yahweh lives,' yet they are swearing falsely." 3 Yahweh, do your eyes not look for faithfulness? You struck the people, but they do not feel pain. You have completely defeated them, but they still refuse to receive discipline. They make their faces harder than rock, for they refuse to repent.

4 Então eu disse: "Certamente, apenas o povo pobre é assim. Esses são tolos, pois não conhecem os caminhos de Yahweh, os decretos do seu Deus. 5 Irei para as pessoas importantes e lhes declararei as mensagens de Yahweh porque, pelo menos, eles conhecem os caminhos de Yahweh, os decretos do seu Deus. Mas, todos eles quebraram o jugo juntos, todos eles romperam as correntes que os ligavam a Deus. 6 Por isso, um leão da mata os atacará. Um lobo de Arabá os arruinará. Uma pantera à espreita atacará suas cidades. Qualquer um que sair da cidade será dilacerado, porque suas transgressões aumentam e seus atos de infidelidade são ilimitados.

4 So I said, "Surely these are only poor people. They are foolish, for they do not know Yahweh's ways, nor their God's decrees. 5 I will go to the important people and declare God's messages to them, for they at least know Yahweh's ways, the decrees of their God." But they all broke their yoke together; they all tore apart the chains that bound them to God. 6 So a lion from a thicket will attack them. A wolf from the Arabah will ruin them. A lurking panther will come against their cities. Anyone who goes outside his city will be torn apart. For their transgressions increase. Their acts of faithlessness are unlimited.

7 Por que Eu deveria perdoar essas pessoas? Seus filhos Me abandonaram e fizeram juramento pelos que não são deuses. Eu os tenho alimentado por completo, mas eles cometeram adultério e andaram em grande número para as casas de prostituição. 8 Eles eram como cavalos bem nutridos, perambulando a fim de se acasalarem, cada um relinchando à mulher de seu próximo. 9 Por acaso, Eu não os deveria punir? —Esta é a declaração de Yahweh — e Eu não deveria Me vingar de uma nação como esta?

7 Why should I pardon these people? Your sons have abandoned me and have made oaths by what are not gods. I fed them fully, but they committed adultery and walked in great numbers to the houses of prostitutes. 8 They were horses in heat. They roamed about wanting to mate. Each man neighed to his neighbor's wife. 9 So should I not punish them—this is Yahweh's declaration— and should I not avenge myself on a nation that is like this?

10 Subi até os terraços de suas vinhas e destruí-as, mas não façais uma destruição total sobre elas. Aparai suas videiras, uma vez que essas videiras não vieram de Yahweh. 11 Pois as casas de Israel e de Judá têm-Me traído completamente — esta é a declaração de Yahweh. 12 Elas têm falado falsamente de Yahweh e dizem: 'Ele não fará nada. O mal não virá sobre nós, nem veremos a espada ou a fome. 13 Os profetas têm-se tornado como o vento; a palavra não está neles; por isso, que caiam sobre eles mesmos o que eles dizem que acontecerá".

10 Go up onto her vineyards' terraces and destroy. But do not bring complete destruction to them. Trim their vines, since those vines do not come from Yahweh. 11 For the houses of Israel and Judah have completely betrayed me—this is Yahweh's declaration. 12 They have spoken falsely about Yahweh and they said, "He will do nothing; no harm will come upon us, and we will not see sword or famine. 13 The prophets will become wind, the word is not in them, so let what they say be done to them."

14 Assim diz Yahweh, o Deus dos Exércitos: "Por que falastes isso, vede, Eu estou prestes a colocar a Minha palavra na tua boca, e ela será como um fogo e este povo será como madeira, pois ela os consumirá. 15 Vede! Eu trarei uma nação de longe contra vós, casa de Israel — esta é a declaração de Yahweh — uma nação duradoura, uma nação antiga. Uma nação cuja língua tu não conheces, nem entendes o que eles dizem.

14 So Yahweh, the God of hosts says this, "Because you have said this, see, I am about to place my word in your mouth. It will be like a fire, and this people will be like wood! For it will consume them. 15 Behold! I am about to bring a nation against you from far away, house of Israel—this is Yahweh's declaration— it is a lasting nation, an ancient nation! It is a nation whose language you do not know, nor will you understand what they say.

16 Sua aljava é como um túmulo aberto. Todos eles são guerreiros. 17 Então, tua colheita será consumida, teus filhos e tuas filhas também, e a tua comida. Eles comerão teus rebanhos e gados; eles comerão do fruto de tuas vinhas e figueiras. Com a espada, eles demolirão tuas cidades fortificadas, nas quais tu confias.

16 Its quiver is like an open tomb. They are all soldiers. 17 They will eat up your harvest and your food. They will devour your sons and daughters. They will devour your flocks and herds. They will devour your vines and fig trees. They will beat down with a sword your fortified cities in which you put your trust.

18 Mas, mesmo naqueles dias — esta é a declaração de Yahweh — Eu não pretendo destruir-vos completamente. 19 Quando vós, Israel e Judá, disserdes: 'Por que Yahweh, nosso Deus, tem feito todas estas coisas conosco?' Então tu, Jeremias, lhes dirás: 'Assim como vós abandonastes a Yahweh e servistes a deuses estrangeiros em vossa terra, assim, vós também servireis a estranhos em uma terra que não é a vossa'.

18 But even in those days—this is Yahweh's declaration—I do not intend to destroy you completely. 19 When you, Israel and Judah, say, 'Why has Yahweh our God done all these things to us?' then you, Jeremiah, will say to them, 'Just as you abandoned Yahweh and served foreign gods in your land, so you must also serve strangers in a land that is not your own.'

20 Relata isso à casa de Jacó e seja ouvido em Judá. Diz: 21 'Ouvi isto vós, ó povo tolo, que não tendes entendimento; que tendes olhos, mas não podeis ver, e tendes ouvidos, mas não podeis ouvir. 22 Vós não Me temeis? — Esta é a declaração de Yahweh — nem tremeis diante da Minha face? Eu coloquei a areia como limite para o mar, um decreto contínuo que não se pode violar, ainda que as ondas subam e desçam, mesmo assim, não o violam. Embora as ondas rujam, elas não o ultrapassam.

20 Report this to the house of Jacob and let it be heard in Judah. Say, 21 'Hear this, you foolish people who have no understanding; who have eyes but you cannot see, and you have ears but you cannot hear. 22 Do you not fear me—this is Yahweh's declaration—or tremble before my face? I have placed a border of sand against the sea, an ongoing decree that it does not violate— even though the sea rises and falls, still it does not violate it. Even though its waves roar, they do not cross it.

23 Mas este povo tem um coração obstinado. Eles se desviaram em rebelião e foram embora. 24 Pois eles não dizem em seus corações: 'Temamos a Yahweh, nosso Deus, Aquele que traz a chuva, as primeiras chuvas e as chuvas tardias, no seu tempo certo, nas semanas determinadas de nossa colheita'. 25 Vossas iniquidades têm impedido que essas coisas aconteçam. Vossas iniquidades têm impedido que as coisas boas venham até vós.

23 But this people has a stubborn heart. It turns away in rebellion and goes away. 24 For they do not say in their hearts, "Let us fear Yahweh our God, the one who brings the rain— the early rain and the late rains—in their right time, keeping the fixed weeks of the harvest for us." 25 Your iniquities kept these things from happening. Your sins have stopped good from coming to you.

26 Pois homens ímpios são achados com o Meu povo. Eles ficam à espreita como alguém que se agacha para capturar pássaros; eles põem uma armadilha para apanhar o povo. 27 Como uma gaiola cheia de pássaros, assim também todas as suas casas estão cheias de engano. Por isso, eles crescem e se enriquecem. 28 Eles se tornaram gordos e satisfeitos por estarem em boas condições. Eles ultrapassaram todos os limites da maldade; não defendem a causa do povo, nem a causa dos órfãos. Eles prosperam, mesmo não dando justiça aos necessitados. 29 Por acaso, não devo Eu castigá-los por essas coisas? — Esta é a declaração de Yahweh — E, por acaso, não Me vingarei de uma nação como esta?

26 For wicked men are found with my people. They watch as someone crouches to capture birds; they set a trap and catch people. 27 Like a cage full of birds, their houses are full of deceit. So they grow large and become rich. 28 They have become fat; they shine with well-being. They crossed over all bounds of wickedness. They do not plead the cause of the people, or the cause of the orphan. They prosper even though they have not given justice to the needy. 29 Should I not punish them for these things—this is Yahweh's declaration— and will I not take vengeance for myself on a nation like this?

30 Atrocidades e horrores têm ocorrido nesta terra. 31 Os profetas profetizam engano e os sacerdotes governam com seu próprio poder. Meu povo ama isso, mas, no fim, o que há de acontecer?

30 Atrocities and horrors have occurred in the land. 31 The prophets prophesy with deceit, and the priests rule with their own power. My people love it this way, but what will happen in the end?'"
