1 No início do reinado de Zedequias, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, esta palavra veio de Yahweh a Jeremias. 2 Isto é o que Yahweh me disse: "Faze para ti grilhões e jugos, e coloca-os em teu pescoço. 3 E manda também grilhões e jugos para o rei de Edom, para o rei de Moabe, para o rei de Amom, para o rei de Tiro e para o rei de Sidom. Envia-os através das mãos dos mensageiros que vieram a Jerusalém ter com Zedequias, rei de Judá. 4 Ordena-lhes que falem aos seus senhores, dizendo: Yahweh dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel, diz: Assim direis aos vossos senhores:

1 In the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from Yahweh. [[ Although most Hebrew copies have " Jehoiakim " , most modern translations have " Zedekiah " , because the events in this chapter occur during his reign. ]] 2 This is what Yahweh said to me, "Make fetters and a yoke for yourself. Place them on your neck. 3 Then send them out to the king of Edom, the king of Moab, the king of the people of Ammon, the king of Tyre, and to the king of Sidon. Send them by the hand of those kings' ambassadors who have come to Jerusalem to Zedekiah king of Judah. 4 Give commands to them for their masters and say, 'Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, says this: This is what you must say to your masters,

5 Eu fiz a terra com Meu grande poder e com o Meu braço estendido. Também fiz as pessoas e os animais sobre a terra, e os dou a quem me apraz. 6 E, agora, entrego todas estas terras nas mãos de Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, meu servo. Também lhe dou os seres vivos dos campos para servi-lo. 7 Todas as nações servirão a ele, a seu filho e a seus netos até o tempo final de sua terra, quando muitas nações e poderosos reis o subjugarão.

5 "I myself made the earth by my great strength and my raised arm. I also made men and animals on the earth, and I give it to anyone who is right in my eyes. 6 So now, I myself am giving all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, my servant. Also, I am giving the living things in the fields to him to serve him. 7 For all the nations will serve him, his son, and his grandson until the time for his land comes. Then many nations and great kings will subdue him.

8 Se alguma nação e reino não servirem a Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, e não se submeterem ao rei da Babilônia, eu os castigarei com espada, fome e praga — esta é a declaração de Yahweh — até que Eu, pelas suas mãos, a destrua.

8 So the nation and the kingdom that does not serve Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, and that does not put its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon—I will punish that nation with the sword, with famine, and with the plague—this is Yahweh's declaration—until I have destroyed it by his hand.

9 E vós, não mais escuteis vossos profetas, vossos adivinhos, vossos videntes, intérpretes de sonhos e feiticeiros que vos falam: 'Não sirvais o rei da Babilônia'. 10 Eles profetizam mentiras a fim de enviar-vos para longe de vossas terras, para que Eu vos expulse e, assim, pereçais. 11 Mas a nação que se submeter ao rei da Babilônia e o servir, permitirei que descansem na sua terra — esta é a declaração de Yahweh — e eles a cultivarão e nela farão moradias."

9 So do not listen to your prophets, your diviners, your seers, your soothsayers, and sorcerers, who have been speaking to you and saying, 'Do not serve the king of Babylon.' 10 For they are prophesying deceit to you in order to send you far away from your lands, for I will drive you away, and you will die. 11 But the nation that places its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon and serves him, I will allow it to rest in its land—this is Yahweh's declaration—and they will cultivate it and make their homes in it."'"

12 Então, falei com Zedequias, rei de Judá, e lhe entreguei esta mensagem: "Submete-te ao jugo do rei da Babilônia, serve a ele e ao seu povo e viverás. 13 Por que morreríeis — tu e teu povo — pela espada, fome e praga, como declarou Yahweh a respeito da nação que se recusar a submeter-se ao rei da Babilônia?

12 So I spoke to Zedekiah king of Judah and gave him this message, "Place your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon and serve him and his people, and you will live. 13 Why will you die—you and your people—by the sword, famine, and plague, just as I have declared about the nation that refuses to serve the king of Babylon?

14 Não deis ouvidos às palavras dos profetas que vos dizem: 'Não sirvais ao rei da Babilônia', pois eles estão profetizando mentiras. 15 Porque não os enviei — esta é a declaração de Yahweh — eles profetizam mentiras em Meu nome, para que Eu vos expulse e pereçais, vós e os profetas que vos profetizam.

14 Do not listen to the words of the prophets who speak to you and say, 'Do not serve the king of Babylon,' for they are prophesying lies to you. 15 'For I have not sent them out—this is Yahweh's declaration—for they are prophesying deceit in my name so that I will drive you out and you will perish, both you and the prophets who are prophesying to you.'"

16 Proclamei aos sacerdotes e a todo povo dizendo: "Yahweh diz: não deis ouvidos às palavras de vossos profetas que dizem: 'Vede! Os objetos pertencentes à Casa de Yahweh estão voltando da Babilônia agora!' Eles vos profetizam mentiras. 17 Não lhes deis ouvidos, servi ao rei da Babilônia e vivereis. Por que trazer ruína à cidade? 18 Se eles são profetas e se, de fato, a palavra de Yahweh está com eles, que intercedam a Yahweh dos Exércitos, para que não sejam levados à Babilônia os objetos que ainda estão em sua casa, na casa do rei de Judá e em Jerusalém.

16 I proclaimed this to the priests and all the people and said, "Yahweh says this: Do not listen to the words of your prophets who prophesy to you and say, 'Look! The objects belonging to the house of Yahweh are being returned from Babylon now!' They are prophesying lies to you. 17 Do not listen to them. You should serve the king of Babylon and live. Why should this city become a ruin? 18 If they are prophets, and if the word of Yahweh has truly come to them, let them beg Yahweh of hosts not to send to Babylon the objects that remain in his house, the house of the king of Judah, and Jerusalem.

19 Assim diz Yahweh dos Exércitos sobre as colunas, o tanque, os suportes e o que sobrou dos utensílios nesta cidade, 20 os quais Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, não tomou quando levou cativo Jeconias, filho de Jeoaquim, rei de Judá, de Jerusalém para a Babilônia com todos os nobres de Judá e de Jerusalém.

19 Yahweh of hosts says this about the pillars, the large basin known as "The Sea" and its base, and the rest of the objects that remain in this city— 20 the objects that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon did not take when he carried Jehoiachin son of Jehoiakim, the king of Judah, into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon with all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem.

21 Yahweh dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel, diz a respeito dos utensílios que permaneceram na Casa de Yahweh, na casa do rei de Judá e em Jerusalém: 22 'Eles serão trazidos para Babilônia, e ali ficarão até o dia em que Eu determinar — esta é a declaração de Yahweh — então, Eu os trarei e os devolverei a este lugar."

21 Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, says this about the objects that remain in the house of Yahweh, the house of the king of Judah, and Jerusalem, 22 'They will be brought to Babylon, and they will remain there until the day I have set to come for them—this is Yahweh's declaration—then I will bring them up and restore them to this place.'"
