1 Escuta a palavra que Yahweh está anunciando para ti, ó casa de Israel. 2 Yahweh diz isto: "Não aprendais os caminhos das outras nações, e não fiqueis desanimados com os sinais nos céus, pois as nações estão atemorizadas com isso.

1 "Hear the word that Yahweh is announcing to you, house of Israel. 2 Yahweh says this, 'Do not learn the ways of the nations, and do not be dismayed by the signs in the heavens, for the nations are dismayed by these.

3 Porque os costumes religiosos desses povos são inúteis. Eles cortam uma árvore em uma floresta; obra das mãos do artífice, feita com machado. 4 Então, eles a decoram com prata e ouro. Eles a reforçam com martelo e pregos, para que ela não caia. 5 Esses ídolos são como espantalhos em um pepinal, pois eles também não podem dizer nada. Eles precisam ser carregados porque não podem andar. Não tenhais medo deles, pois eles não podem vos trazer o mal, nem são capazes de fazer qualquer coisa boa."

3 For the customs of these people are worthless; someone cuts down a tree from the forest, and the craftsman shapes it with his tool. 4 Then they decorate it with silver and gold. They strengthen it with hammer and nails so it will not fall over. 5 What they make with their hands is like scarecrows in a cucumber field, because they, too, can say nothing, and they have to be carried because they cannot walk. Do not fear them, for they cannot bring about evil, nor are they able to do anything good.'"

6 Não existe ninguém igual a Ti, Yahweh. Tu és grande, e Teu nome é grande em poder! 7 Quem não Te teme, Rei da nações? Pois isso é o que Tu mereces! Não há nenhum igual a Ti, dentre todos os sábios das nações, ou em todo o reino deles.

6 There is no one like you, Yahweh. You are great, and your name is great in power. 7 Who does not fear you, king of the nations? For this is what you deserve, for there is no one like you among all the wise men of the nations or all their royal kingdoms.

8 Eles são todos brutos e estúpidos, discípulos de ídolos, que não são nada além de um pedaço de madeira. 9 Eles trazem prata batida de Társis, e ouro de Ufaz; são feitos por artífices, pelas mãos dos fundidores. Suas roupas são azuis e púrpuras. Seus homens hábeis fizeram todas essa coisas. 10 Mas Yahweh é o verdadeiro Deus. Ele é o Deus vivo e o eterno Rei. A terra treme com Sua ira, e as nações não podem suportar o Seu furor.

8 They are all the same, they are brutish and stupid, disciples of idols that are nothing but wood. 9 They bring hammered silver from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz made by artificers, the hands of refiners. Their clothes are blue and purple cloth. Their skillful men made all of these things. 10 But Yahweh is the true God. He is the living God and eternal king. The earth quakes at his anger, and the nations cannot endure his anger.

11 Assim direis a eles: 'Os deuses que não fizeram o céu e a terra iráo desaparecer da terra e debaixo dos céus.' 12 Mas foi Ele quem fez a terra pelo Seu poder, e Ele estabeleceu o mundo pela Sua sabedoria, e pelo Seu entendimento estendeu os céus. 13 Ao som da voz do Seu trovão, as águas no céu rugem, e Ele traz as névoas dos fins da Terra. Ele faz os relâmpagos para a chuva e manda os ventos do Seu depósito.

11 You will speak to them like this, "The gods that did not make the heavens and earth will perish from the earth and from under these heavens." 12 But it was he who made the earth by his power, and he established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding he stretched out the heavens. 13 His voice makes the roar of waters in the heavens, and he brings up the mists from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain and sends out wind from his storehouse.

14 Todo homem se tornou ignorante, sem conhecimento. Todo artesão é envergonhado por seus ídolos. Porque a imagem que eles fizeram são fraudes; não há vida nelas. 15 Elas são inúteis, o trabalho de escarnecedores; eles irão perecer no tempo de sua punição. 16 Mas Deus, a porção de Jacó, não é assim, pois Ele é o moldador de todas as coisas. Israel é a tribo de Sua herança. Yahweh dos Exércitos é Seu nome.

14 Every man has become ignorant, without knowledge. Every metalworker is put to shame by his idols. For his cast images are frauds; there is no life in them. 15 They are useless, the work of mockers; they will perish at the time of their punishment. 16 But God, the portion of Jacob, is not like these, for he is the molder of all things. Israel is the tribe of his inheritance; Yahweh of hosts is his name.

17 Recolhe o teu pacote e deixa a tua terra, tu, povo que estás vivendo num lugar sitiado. 18 Pois Yahweh diz isso: "Vê! Eu estou prestes a lançar fora os habitantes dessa terra. Eu lhes causarei aflição, e eles se encontrarão assim."

17 Gather your bundle and leave the land, you people who have been living under the siege. 18 For Yahweh says this, "See, I am about to throw the inhabitants of the land out this time. I will cause them distress, and they will find it to be so."

19 Ai de mim! Por causa dos meus ossos quebrados, minha ferida está infectada. Então, eu disse: "Certamente isso é agonia, mas eu devo suportá-la". 20 Minha tenda está devastada, e todas as cordas da minha tenda foram cortadas. Eles tiraram meus filhos para longe de mim; então, eles já não existem mais. Não existe mais ninguém para levantar minha tenda e levantar minhas lonas.

19 Woe to me! Because of my broken bones, my wound is infected. So I said, "Surely this is agony, but I must bear it." 20 My tent is devastated, and all of my tent cords are cut in two. They have taken my children away from me, so they no longer exist. There is no longer anyone to spread out my tent or to raise up my tent curtains.

21 Pois os pastores se tornaram estúpidos. Eles não buscam Yahweh; então, eles não têm sucesso e todos os seus rebanhos foram espalhados. 22 Vêm rumores: "Vede! Está chegando! Um grande terremoto vindo da terra do norte para tornar a cidade de Judá em ruínas, esconderijo de chacais".

21 For the shepherds are stupid and they do not seek Yahweh; so they have not prospered, and all their flock has been scattered. 22 The report of news has arrived, "See! It is coming, a great earthquake is coming from the land of the north To make the cities of Judah into ruins, hideouts for jackals."

23 Eu sei, Yahweh, que o caminho do homem não vem dele mesmo. Nenhuma pessoa que caminha dirige seus próprios passos. 24 Disciplina-me, Yahweh, com justiça, mas não com a Tua ira, para não me destruires. 25 Derrama a Tua indignação sobre as nações que não Te conhecem, e sobre as famílias que não chamam pelo Teu nome. Pois eles devoraram Jacó; eles o consumiram e destruíram completamente a sua habitação.

23 I know, Yahweh, that the way of a man does not come from himself. No person walking directs his own steps. 24 Discipline me, Yahweh, with justice, not in your anger or you would destroy me. 25 Pour your fury on the nations that do not know you and on the families that do not call on your name. For they have devoured Jacob and consumed him so as to completely destroy him and demolish his habitation.
