1 No sétimo mês, no vigésimo primeiro dia do mês, a palavra de Yahweh veio pelo profeta Ageu, e disse: 2 "Fala ao governador de Judá, Zorobabel, filho de Sealtiel, e ao sumo sacerdote Josué, filho de Jozadaque; e ao remanescente do povo. Diz:

1 In the seventh month on the twenty-first day of the month, the word of Yahweh came by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying, 2 "Speak to the governor of Judah, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and to the high priest Joshua son of Jozadak, and to the remnant of the people. Say,

3 'Dos que restaram entre vós, quem viu esta casa na sua glória anterior? E como vós a vedes agora? Não é esta como nada aos vossos olhos? 4 Agora, pois, sê forte, Zorobabel!' Esta é a declaração de Yahweh. 'E sê forte, sumo sacerdote Josué, filho de Jozadaque; e sede fortes, todas as pessoas da terra!' Esta é a declaração de Yahweh: 'E trabalhem, pois Eu estou convosco!' Esta é a declaração de Yahweh dos Exércitos. 5 'Pelas promessas contidas na aliança que Eu estabeleci convosco quando saístes do Egito, e o Meu Espírito habitava entre vós, não temais!'

3 'Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How do you see it now? Is it not like nothing in your eyes? 4 Now, be strong, Zerubbabel!—this is Yahweh's declaration— and be strong, high priest Joshua son of Jozadak; and be strong, all you people in the land!—this is Yahweh's declaration— and work, for I am with you!—this is the declaration of Yahweh of hosts. 5 This is the covenant that I established with you when you came out of Egypt, and my Spirit stands among you. Do not fear!

6 Pois assim diz Yahweh dos Exércitos: 'Em pouco tempo, Eu mais uma vez estremecerei os céus e a terra, o mar e a terra seca! 7 E Eu estremecerei cada nação, e cada nação Me trará suas coisas preciosas, e encherei esta casa de glória!', diz Yahweh dos Exércitos.

6 For Yahweh of hosts says this: In a little while I will once again shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land! 7 I will shake every nation, and every nation will bring their precious things to me, and I will fill this house with glory, says Yahweh of hosts.

8 'A prata e o ouro são Meus!' Esta é a declaração de Yahweh dos Exércitos. 9 'A glória desta casa será maior no futuro do que no seu começo,' declara Yahweh dos Exércitos, 'e darei paz a este lugar!' Declara Yahweh dos Exércitos.

8 The silver and gold are mine!—this is the declaration of Yahweh of hosts. 9 The glory of this house will be greater in the future than at the beginning, says Yahweh of hosts, and I will give peace in this place!—this is the declaration of Yahweh of hosts."

10 Ao vigésimo quarto dia do nono mês, no segundo ano de Dario, a palavra de Yahweh veio pelo profeta Ageu, e disse: 11 "Assim diz Yahweh dos Exércitos: Pergunta aos sacerdotes acerca da Lei, e diz: 12 Se um homem carregar a carne dedicada a Yahweh na aba do seu vestido e, se tocar a aba no pão ou guisado, vinho ou óleo, ou qualquer outro tipo de comida, essa comida se tornará santa?" Os sacerdotes responderam dizendo: "Não".

10 On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of Yahweh came by Haggai the prophet, saying, 11 "Yahweh of hosts says this: Ask the priests concerning the law, and say, 12 'If a man carries meat that is set apart to Yahweh in the fold of his garment, and the fold touches bread or stew, wine or oil, or any kind of food, does it become holy?'" The priests answered and said, "No."

13 Então, Ageu disse: "Se alguém impuro, por causa da morte, tocar qualquer uma dessas coisas, ficarão elas impuras?" Os sacerdotes responderam dizendo: "Sim, elas se tornarão impuras". 14 Portanto, Ageu respondeu e disse: "'Assim são essas pessoas e esta nação diante de Mim!', declara Yahweh. 'E assim é com tudo o que é feito por suas mãos: o que eles me oferecem é impuro.

13 Then Haggai said, "If someone who is unclean because of death touches any of these things, do they become unclean?" The priests answered and said, "Yes, they become unclean." 14 So Haggai answered and said, "So it is with this people and this nation before me!—this is Yahweh's declaration—and so it is with the work of their hands. What they offer to me is unclean!

15 Portanto, a partir deste dia em diante, antes que qualquer pedra seja colocada sobre outra pedra, no templo de Yahweh, considerai: 16 Sempre que alguém vinha ao lagar, para tirar vinte medidas de grãos, havia somente dez; sempre que alguem vinha ao tonel, para tirar cinquenta medidas de vinho, havia somente vinte. 17 Eu vos afligi em todo o trabalho das vossas mãos com ferrugem e mofo, mas vós ainda não retornastes para mim', declara Yahweh.

15 So now, think in your minds about the past leading up to this very day. Before stone was placed upon stone in the temple of Yahweh, 16 how was it then? When you came to a heap of twenty measures of grain, there were only ten; and when you came to the wine vat to draw out fifty measures, there were only twenty. 17 I afflicted you and all the work of your hands with blight and mildew, but you still did not turn to me—this is Yahweh's declaration.

18 Considerai a partir deste dia em diante, desde o vigésimo quarto dia do nono mês, desde o dia em que a fundação do templo de Yahweh foi colocada. Considerai isto! 19 Ainda há semente no celeiro? A videira, a figueira, a romeira e a oliveira não produziram! Mas, a partir deste dia, Eu vos abençoarei!"

18 Consider from this day forward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, from the day that the foundation of the temple of Yahweh was laid. Consider it! 19 Is there still seed in the storehouse? The vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not borne! But from this day will I bless you!"

20 Então, a palavra de Yahweh veio, pela segunda vez, a Ageu no vigésimo quarto dia do mês e disse: 21 "Fala ao governador de Judá, Zorobabel, e diz: 'Estremecerei os céus e a terra. 22 Pois derrubarei o trono dos reinos e destruirei as forças dos reinos das nações! Derrubarei as carruagens e seus cavaleiros; os cavalos e seus cavaleiros cairão, cada um por causa da espada do seu irmão'.

20 Then the word of Yahweh came a second time to Haggai on the twenty-fourth day of the month and said, 21 "Speak to the governor of Judah, Zerubbabel, and say, 'I will shake the heavens and the earth. 22 For I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms and destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations! I will overthrow the chariots and their riders; the horses and their riders will fall down, each one because of his brother's sword.

23 'Naquele dia', declara Yahweh dos Exércitos, 'Eu te levarei, Zorobabel, filho de Sealtiel, como meu servo', declara Yahweh. 'Eu te colocarei como o selo do Meu anel, pois foi a ti que escolhi!', declara Yahweh dos Exércitos!".

23 On that day—this is the declaration of Yahweh of hosts—I will take you, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, as my servant—this is Yahweh's declaration.2 I will make you like a signet ring, for I have chosen you!2 —this is the declaration of Yahweh of hosts!'"
