1 Isto é o que o Senhor Deus mostrou-me. Eis que Ele formou gafanhotos quando a erva começou a germinar. Eis que essa era a erva serôdia depois da colheita do rei. 2 Quando eles terminaram de comer a vegetação do solo, então eu disse: "Senhor Yahweh, perdoa, por favor! Jacó é muito pequeno, como sobreviverá?". 3 Yahweh cedeu com relação a isso. "Isso não acontecerá", disse Ele.

1 This is what the Lord Yahweh showed me. Look, he formed a locust swarm when the spring crop began to come up, and, look, it was the late crop after the king's harvest. 2 When they finished eating the vegetation of the land, then I said, "Lord Yahweh, please forgive; how will Jacob stand? For he is so small." 3 Yahweh relented concerning this. "It will not happen," he said.

4 Isto é o que o Yahweh me mostrou: Eis que o Senhor Yahweh chamou o fogo para julgar. Secou as grandes e profundas águas embaixo da terra e poderia ter devorado o solo também; 5 mas eu disse: "Senhor Yahweh, para, por favor! Jacó é muito pequeno. Como sobreviverá?". 6 Yahweh cedeu acerca disso: "Isso também não acontecerá", disse o Senhor Yahweh.

4 This is what the Lord Yahweh showed me: Look, the Lord Yahweh called on fire to judge. It dried the vast, deep water under the earth and would have devoured the land also. 5 But I said, "Lord Yahweh, please stop; how will Jacob stand? For he is so small." 6 Yahweh relented concerning this, "This also will not happen," said the Lord Yahweh.

7 Isto é o que Ele me mostrou: Eis que o Senhor parou ao lado do muro, com um prumo nas Suas mãos. 8 Yahweh me disse: "Amós, o que vês?". Eu disse: "Um prumo". Então, o Senhor disse: "Olha, colocarei um prumo no meio do Meu povo Israel. Não vou mais poupá-lo.

7 This is what he showed me: Look, the Lord stood beside a wall, with a plumb line in his hand. 8 Yahweh said to me, "Amos, what do you see?" I said, "A plumb line." Then the Lord said, "Look, I will put a plumb line among my people Israel. I will spare them no longer.

9 Os lugares altos de Isaque serão destruídos; os santuários de Israel serão arruinados, e Me levantarei contra a casa de Jeroboão com a espada".

9 The high places of Isaac will be destroyed, the sanctuaries of Israel will be ruined, and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword."

10 Então, Amazias, o sacerdote de Betel, enviou mensagem para Jeroboão, rei de Israel: "Amós conspirou contra ti no meio da casa de Israel. A terra não pode suportar todas as suas palavras. 11 Porque isto é o que Amós disse: 'Jeroboão morrerá pela espada, e Israel certamente será levado ao exílio longe da sua terra'".

10 Then Amaziah, the priest of Bethel, sent a message to Jeroboam, king of Israel: "Amos has conspired against you in the middle of the house of Israel. The land cannot endure all his words. 11 For this is what Amos said, 'Jeroboam will die by the sword, and Israel will surely go into exile away from his land.'"

12 Amazias disse a Amós: "Vidente, vai. Foge de volta para a terra de Judá, come pão lá e profetiza. 13 Mas não profetizes mais aqui em Betel, porque é o Santuário do rei e a casa real".

12 Amaziah said to Amos, "Seer, go, flee back to the land of Judah, and there eat bread and prophesy. 13 But do not prophesy anymore here at Bethel, for it is the king's sanctuary and a royal house."

14 Então, Amós disse a Amazias: "Eu não sou profeta, nem filho de profeta. Sou um vaqueiro e cultivador de sicômoros". 15 Mas Yahweh me levou de onde eu estava pastoreando o rebanho e me disse: "Vai, profetiza para o Meu povo Israel".

14 Then Amos said to Amaziah, "I am not a prophet nor a prophet's son. I am a herdsman, and I take care of sycamore fig trees. 15 But Yahweh took me from tending the flock and said to me, 'Go, prophesy to my people Israel.'

16 Agora, ouve a palavra de Yahweh. Tu dizes: "Não profetizes contra Israel e não fales contra a casa de Isaque". 17 Portanto, isto é o que Yahweh diz: "Tua esposa será prostituta na cidade; teus filhos e tuas filhas cairão pela espada; a tua terra será medida e dividida; tu morrerás numa terra impura e, sem dúvida, Israel irá para o exílio fora da sua terra".

16 Now hear the word of Yahweh. You say, 'Do not prophesy against Israel, and do not speak against the house of Isaac.' 17 Therefore this is what Yahweh says, 'Your wife will be a prostitute in the city; your sons and your daughters will fall by the sword; your land will be measured and divided up; you will die in an unclean land, and Israel will surely go into exile from his land.'"
