1 Nos dias de Jeoaquim, Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, atacou Judá, levando Jeoaquim a se sujeitar a ele por três anos. Então, Jeoaquim voltou para trás e se rebelou contra Nabucodonosor. 2 Yahweh enviou contra Jeoaquim tropas dos babilônios, dos sírios, dos moabitas e dos amonitas; Ele os enviou contra Judá para a sua destruição. Foi em conformidade com a palavra de Yahweh, falada por intermédio de seus servos, os profetas.

1 In Jehoiakim's days, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon attacked Judah; Jehoiakim became his servant for three years. Then Jehoiakim turned back and rebelled against Nebuchadnezzar. 2 Yahweh sent against Jehoiakim bands of Chaldeans, Arameans, Moabites, and Ammonites; he sent them against Judah to destroy it. This was in conformity with the word of Yahweh that had been spoken through his servants the prophets.

3 Certamente, foi a comando de Yahweh que isto ocorreu a Judá, para removê-lo da Sua vista, por causa dos pecados de Manassés, e tudo que ele fez, 4 e também pelo sangue inocente que derramou, pois encheu Jerusalém com sangue inocente. Yahweh não estava disposto a perdoar isso.

3 It was certainly at the mouth of Yahweh that this came on Judah, to remove them out of his sight, because of the sins of Manasseh, all that he did, [[ Some ancient Hebrew copies read, " It was certainly because of the wrath of Yahweh " . ]] 4 and also because of the innocent blood that he shed, for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood. Yahweh was not willing to pardon that.

5 Com relação aos demais acontecimentos do reinado de Jeoaquim e seus feitos, não estão eles escritos no livro de Crônicas dos reis de Judá? 6 Jeoaquim dormiu com seus antepassados, e Joaquim, seu filho, se tornou rei em seu lugar.

5 As for the other matters concerning Jehoiakim, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the events of the kings of Judah? 6 Jehoiakim lay down with his ancestors, and Jehoiachin his son became king in his place.

7 O rei do Egito não mais atacou fora de suas terras, pois o rei da Babilônia havia conquistado todas as terras que estavam sob o controle do rei do Egito, desde o ribeiro do Egito até o rio Eufrates.

7 The king of Egypt did not attack any more out of his land, because the king of Babylon had conquered all the lands that had been controlled by the king of Egypt, from the brook of Egypt to the Euphrates River.

8 Joaquim tinha dezoito anos quando começou a reinar; reinou em Jerusalém por três meses. Sua mãe se chamava Neusta; e era filha de Elnatã, de Jerusalém. 9 Ele fez o que era mau à vista de Yahweh, fazendo tudo que seu pai havia feito.

8 Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign; he reigned in Jerusalem three months. His mother's name was Nehushta; she was the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem. 9 He did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh; he did all that his father had done.

10 Naquele tempo, o exército de Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, atacou Jerusalém e sitiou a cidade. 11 Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, foi à cidade enquanto seus soldados a estavam sitiando. 12 Joaquim, rei de Judá, entregou-se ao rei da Babilônia, juntamente com sua mãe, seus servos, seus príncipes e seus oficiais. No oitavo ano de seu reinado, o rei da Babilônia o capturou.

10 At that time the army of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon attacked Jerusalem and besieged the city. 11 Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to the city while his soldiers were besieging it, 12 and Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, his mother, his servants, his princes, and his officers. The king of Babylon captured him in the eighth year of his own reign.

13 Nabucodonosor saqueou todos os itens valiosos do templo de Yahweh, e do palácio do rei. Ele tornou em pedaços todos os objetos de ouro que Salomão, rei de Israel, havia colocado no templo de Yahweh, assim como Yahweh havia dito que aconteceria. 14 Ele levou para o exílio toda Jerusalém, todos os líderes, todos os soldados, dez mil cativos, e todos os artesãos e ferreiros. Ninguém ficou, com excessão dos pobres daquela terra.

13 Nebuchadnezzar took out from there all the valuable things in the house of Yahweh, and those in the king's palace. He cut into pieces all the golden objects that Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of Yahweh, as Yahweh had said would happen. 14 He took into exile all Jerusalem, all the leaders, and all the mighty warriors, ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and the smiths. No one was left except the poorest people in the land.

15 Nabucodonosor levou Joaquim cativo para a Babilônia, assim como a mãe do rei, suas esposas, oficiais e os poderosos da terra. Ele os levou para o exílio de Jerusalém para a Babilônia. 16 Todos os soldados, sete mil deles, e mil artesãos e ferreiros, todos aptos para guerrear, o rei da Babilônia os levou para o exílio na Babilônia. 17 O rei da Babilônia instituiu Matanias, tio paterno de Joaquim, rei em seu lugar, e mudou seu nome para Zedequias.

15 Nebuchadnezzar took Jehoiachin into exile at Babylon, as well as the king's mother, wives, officers, and the chief men of the land. He took them into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon. 16 All the fighting men, seven thousand in number, and one thousand craftsmen and blacksmiths, all of them fit for fighting—the king of Babylon brought these men into exile at Babylon. 17 The king of Babylon made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin's father's brother, king in his place, and changed his name to Zedekiah.

18 Zedequias tinha vinte e um anos quando começou a reinar; e reinou por onze anos em Jerusalém. Sua mãe se chamava Hamutal, ela era a filha de Jeremias, da Libna. 19 Ele fez o que era mau à vista de Yahweh, fazendo tudo o que Jeoaquim havia feito. 20 Por causa da ira de Yahweh, todos esses eventos ocorreram em Jerusalém e Judá, até que Ele os expulsou da sua presença. Então, Zedequias se rebelou contra o rei da Babilônia.

18 Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he began to reign; he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Hamutal; she was the daughter of Jeremiah from Libnah. 19 He did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh; he did all that Jehoiakim had done. 20 Through Yahweh's anger, all these events happened in Jerusalem and Judah, until he drove them out of his presence. Then Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
