1 Moabe rebelou-se contra Israel depois da morte de Acabe. 2 Então, Acazias caiu da grade da sua sacada superior em Samaria e com isso ficou ferido. Então, ele enviou mensageiros e disse-lhes: "Ide, consultai a Baal-Zebube, o deus de Ecrom, se eu me recuperarei destes ferimentos".

1 Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab. 2 Then Ahaziah fell down through the lattice in his upper chamber in Samaria, and was injured. So he sent for messengers and said to them, "Go, ask Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron, whether I will recover from this injury."

3 Mas o Anjo de Yahweh disse a Elias, o tesbita: "Levanta-te, sobe ao encontro dos mensageiros do rei de Samaria e dize-lhes: 'Por acaso não há Deus em Israel para que consulteis a Baal-Zebube, o deus de Ecrom?'. 4 Por essa razão, assim diz Yahweh: 'Não descerás desta cama para onde subiste, mas, certamente, morrerás"'. Então, Elias saiu.

3 But the angel of Yahweh said to Elijah the Tishbite, "Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and ask them, 'Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are going to consult with Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron? 4 Therefore Yahweh says, "You will not come down from the bed to where you have gone up; instead, you will certainly die."'" Then Elijah left.

5 Quando os mensageiros retornaram a Acazias, este lhes perguntou: "Por que retornastes?". 6 Eles lhe disseram: "Um homem veio ao nosso encontro e nos disse: 'Voltai ao rei que vos enviou e dizei-lhe: 'Assim diz Yahweh: 'Por acaso não há Deus em Israel para que teus homens consultem a Baal-Zebube, o deus de Ecrom? Por essa razão, não sairás desta cama para a qual subistes, mas certamente morrerás'".

5 When the messengers returned to Ahaziah, he said to them, "Why have you returned?" 6 They said to him, "A man came to meet us who said to us, 'Go back to the king who sent you, and say to him, "Yahweh says this: 'Is it because there is no God in Israel that you sent men to consult with Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore you will not come down from the bed to which you have gone up; instead, you will certainly die.'"'"

7 Acazias disse aos seus mensageiros: "Qual a aparência do homem que veio ao vosso encontro e vos disse essas palavras?". 8 Responderam-lhes: "Ele vestia uma roupa feita de pelos e tinha um cinto de couro amarrado em volta da cintura". Então, o rei replicou: "Este é Elias, o tesbita".

7 Ahaziah said to his messengers, "What sort of man was he, the one who came up to meet you and said these words to you?" 8 They answered him, "He wore a garment made of hair and had a leather belt wrapped around his waist." So the king replied, "That is Elijah the Tishbite."

9 Então, o rei enviou um capitão com cinquenta soldados a Elias. Este subiu a Elias, que estava sentado no cume do monte, e lhe disse: "Tu, homem de Deus, o rei diz: 'Desce"'. 10 Elias respondeu e disse ao capitão: "Se eu sou homem de Deus, desça fogo do céu e consuma a ti e também os teus cinquenta homens". Então, desceu fogo do céu e consumiu a ele e aos seus cinquenta homens.

9 Then the king sent a captain with fifty soldiers to Elijah. The captain went up to Elijah where he was sitting on the top of a hill. The captain spoke to him, "You, man of God, the king has said, 'Come down.'" 10 Elijah answered and said to the captain, "If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men." Then fire came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty men.

11 Novamente, o rei Acazias enviou para Elias outro capitão com cinquenta soldados. Esse capitão também disse a Elias: "Tu, homem de Deus, o rei diz: 'Desce rapidamente'". 12 Elias respondeu e lhe disse: "Se eu sou homem de Deus, desça fogo do céu e consuma a ti e também os teus cinquenta homens". Outra vez, o fogo de Deus desceu do céu e o consumiu juntamente com seus cinquenta homens.

11 Again King Ahaziah sent to Elijah another captain with fifty soldiers. This captain also said to Elijah, "You, man of God, the king says, 'Come down quickly.'" 12 Elijah answered and said to them, "If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men." Again the fire of God came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty men.

13 Ainda outra vez, o rei enviou um terceiro grupo de cinquenta guerreiros. Esse capitão subiu, pôs-se de joelhos diante de Elias e implorou, dizendo-lhe: "Tu, homem de Deus, suplico-te, livra minha vida, e as vidas destes cinquenta guerreiros sejam preciosas à tua vista. 14 Certamente, o fogo caiu do céu e consumiu os primeiros dois capitães com seus homens, mas agora permite que minha vida seja preciosa aos teus olhos".

13 Yet again the king sent a third group of fifty warriors. This captain went up, fell on his knees before Elijah, and implored him and said to him, "You, man of God, I ask you, let my life and the life of these fifty servants of yours be precious in your sight. 14 Indeed, fire came down from heaven and consumed the first two captains with their men, but now let my life be precious in your sight."

15 Então, o Anjo de Yahweh disse a Elias: "Desce com eles. Não tenhas medo deles". Então, Elias se levantou e desceu com eles ao rei. 16 Elias disse a Acazias: "Assim diz Yahweh: 'Tens enviado mensageiros para consultar Baal-Zebube, o deus de Ecrom. Por acaso não há Deus em Israel para que teus homens consultem a Baal-Zebube, o deus de Ecrom? Por essa razão, não sairás desta cama para a qual subistes, mas certamente morrerás'''.

15 The angel of Yahweh said to Elijah, "Go down with him. Do not be afraid of him." So Elijah arose and went down with him to the king. 16 Later Elijah said to Ahaziah, "This is what Yahweh says, 'You have sent messengers to consult with Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron. Is it because there is no God in Israel from whom you can ask for information? So now, you will not come down from the bed where you have gone up; you will certainly die.'"

17 Então, o rei Acazias morreu, de acordo com a palavra de Yahweh que Elias havia falado. Jorão começou a reinar em seu lugar, no segundo ano de Jeorão, filho de Jeosafá, rei de Judá, pois Acazias não tinha filho. 18 O restante dos atos de Acazias não estão escritos no livro das Crônicas dos reis de Israel?

17 So King Ahaziah died according to the word of Yahweh that Elijah had spoken. Joram began to reign in his place, in the second year of Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, because Ahaziah had no son. 18 As for the other matters concerning Ahaziah, are they not written in the book of the events of the kings of Israel?
