1 Os filiteus recolheram todo o seu exército em Afeque; os israelistas acamparam-se junto à fonte que estava em Jezreel. 2 Os príncipes dos filisteus passaram por centenas e milhares; Davi e seus homens passaram na retaguarda com Áquis.

1 Now the Philistines gathered together all their army at Aphek, and Israel camped by the spring that is in Jezreel. 2 The princes of the Philistines passed on by hundreds and by thousands; David and his men passed on in the rear guard with Achish.

3 Então, os príncipes dos filisteus disseram: "O que esses hebreus estão fazendo aqui?". Áquis disse para os outros príncipes dos filisteus: "Não é este Davi, servo de Saul, o rei de Israel, que tem estado comigo nestes dias, ou nestes anos, e em quem eu não tenho encontrado nenhuma culpa desde que ele veio a mim até hoje?".

3 Then the princes of the Philistines said, "What are these Hebrews doing here?" Achish said to the other princes of the Philistines, "Is not this David, the servant of Saul, the king of Israel, who has been with me these days, or rather these years, and I have found no fault with him since he came away to me to this day?"

4 Mas os príncipes dos filisteus estavam zangados com ele; eles lhe disseram: "Faze este homem ir embora, que ele vá de volta para o lugar que tu lhe deste; não deixes que ele vá conosco na batalha, de modo que ele não se torne um inimigo para nós durante a batalha. Por quanto mais poderia esse homem fazer as pazes com seu mestre? Não estaria com a cabeça dos nossos homens?

4 But the princes of the Philistines were angry with him and said, "Send the man back, that he may return to the place you assigned him. He will not go down with us into battle, for he will become our adversary during the fighting. For how else could he make himself acceptable to his master than by taking the heads of our own men?

5 Não é este o Davi de quem cantam um ao outro em danças, dizendo: 'Saul feriu os seus milhares, e Davi os seus dez milhares?'"

5 Is this not David of whom they sang one to another in dances, saying, 'Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands'?"

6 Então, Áquis chamou Davi e lhe disse: "Como Yahweh vive, tu tens sido bom, e, no meu ponto de vista, a tua saída e a tua entrada comigo no exército é boa; pois não encontro nada de errado contigo desde o dia em que vieste a mim até hoje. Todavia, os príncipes não são favoráveis a ti. 7 Então, retorna e vai em paz, para que não desagrades os príncipes dos filisteus".

6 Then Achish called David and said to him, "As Yahweh lives, you have been good, and your going out and your coming in with me in the army is good in my view; for I have found nothing wrong with you since the day of your coming to me to this very day. Nevertheless, the princes are not favorable to you. 7 So now return and go in peace, so that you do not displease the princes of the Philistines."

8 Davi disse a Áquis: "Mas o que eu tenho feito? O que encontraste em teu servo desde o dia em que eu vim ter contigo até este dia, que eu não possa ir e lutar contra os inimigos do meu senhor rei?". 9 Áquis respondeu, dizendo: "Eu sei que tu és tão irrepreensível diante dos meus olhos quanto um anjo de Deus, embora os príncipes dos filisteus tenham dito, 'ele não deve ir conosco à batalha'.

8 David said to Achish, "But what have I done? What have you found in your servant as long as I have been before you to this day, that I may not go and fight against the enemies of my master the king?" 9 Achish answered and said to David, "I know that you are as blameless in my sight as an angel of God; nevertheless, the princes of the Philistines have said, 'He must not go up with us to the battle.'

10 Então, levanta-te de manhã cedo, tu e os servos de teu mestre que vieram contigo; assim que estiveres levantado de manhã cedo, quando tiver luz, ide embora". 11 Então, Davi levantou-se cedo, ele e os homens, para, de manhã, retornarem à terra dos filisteus. Mas os filisteus foram para Jezreel.

10 So now rise up early in the morning with the servants of your master who have come with you; as soon as you are up early in the morning and have light, go away." 11 So David rose up early, he and his men, to leave in the morning, to return into the land of the Philistines. But the Philistines went up to Jezreel.
