1 Aconteceu naqueles dias que os filisteus juntaram os seus exércitos para lutar contra Israel. Áquis disse a Davi: "Certamente tu sabes que sairás a lutar comigo. 2 Davi disse a Áquis: "Saberás tu o que teu servo pode fazer". Áquis disse a Davi: "Então, eu irei, permanentemente, fazer de ti meu guarda pessoal".

1 It came about in those days that the Philistines gathered their armies together for battle to fight with Israel. Achish said to David, "Know for certain that you will go out with me in the army, you and your men." 2 David said to Achish, "That being the case, you will know what your servant can do." Achish said to David, "Then I will make you my bodyguard all your days."

3 Samuel estava morto; todo o Israel estava se lamentando por ele; sepultaram-no em Ramá, cidade de seu nascimento. Ora, Saul havia expulsado da terra aqueles que haviam falado com os mortos, ou com os espíritos. 4 Os filisteus ajuntaram-se e vieram acampar em Suném; e Saul reuniu todo o Israel, e acamparam-se em Gilboa.

3 Now Samuel had died, and all Israel had lamented him and buried him in Ramah, in his own city. Also, Saul had banned from the land those who talked with the dead and those who talked with spirits. 4 Then the Philistines gathered themselves together and came and camped at Shunem; and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they camped at Gilboa.

5 Quando Saul viu o exército dos filisteus, ele ficou com medo, e seu coração se afligiu muito. 6 Saul orou a Yahweh por socorro; no entanto, Yahweh não lhe respondeu— nem por sonhos, nem por Urim, nem por profetas. 7 Portanto, Saul disse aos seus servos: "Encontrai-me uma mulher que fale com os mortos, para que eu vá até ela e busque seus conselhos". Seus servos disseram-lhe: "Vê, em En-Dor há uma mulher que fala com os mortos".

5 When Saul saw the army of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart trembled very much. 6 Saul prayed to Yahweh for help, but Yahweh did not answer him—neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets. 7 Then Saul said to his servants, "Find me a woman who talks with the dead, so that I may go to her and seek her advice." His servants said to him, "See, there is a woman in Endor who talks with the dead."

8 Saul disfarçou-se, vestindo outra roupa, e foi — ele estava com dois dos seus homens. Eles foram ao anoitecer ao encontro da mulher. Disse-lhe: "Adivinha para mim, peço-te, fala tu com os mortos e faze subir o nome que eu der a ti. 9 A mulher disse-lhe: "Vê, sabes tu o que Saul fez: ele baniu da terra todos os que falam com os mortos ou com os espíritos. Então, por que preparas uma armadilha para minha vida, para me fazer morrer?". 10 Saul jurou-lhe por Yahweh e disse-lhe: "Assim como Yahweh vive, nenhuma punição te acontecerá por estas coisas".

8 So Saul disguised himself, putting on other clothing and went, he and two men with him. They went to the woman by night. He said, "Divine for me by a spirit and bring up for me the one I name." 9 The woman said to him, "See, you know what Saul has done, how he has banned from the land those who talk with the dead or with spirits. So why are you setting a trap for my life, to make me die?" 10 Saul swore to her by Yahweh and said, "As Yahweh lives, no punishment will happen to you for this thing."

11 Então, a mulher perguntou-lhe: "Quem devo fazer subir até ti? Disse-lhe Saul: "Faze subir Samuel até mim". 12 Quando a mulher viu Samuel, ela gritou em alta voz e perguntou a Saul: "Por que tu me enganaste? Pois tu és Saul".

11 Then the woman said, "Whom should I bring up to you?" Saul said, "Bring up Samuel for me." 12 When the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice and spoke to Saul, saying, "Why have you deceived me? For you are Saul."

13 O rei disse-lhe: "Não tenhas medo. O que tu vês?". A mulher disse a Saul: "Eu vejo um deus que vem subindo de dentro da terra". 14 Perguntou-lhe Saul: "Como ele é?" Ela disse: "Um homem velho está vindo; ele está vestido com um manto". Saul entendeu que era Samuel, e curvou-se com a face no chão, mostrando respeito.

13 The king said to her, "Do not be afraid. What do you see?" The woman said to Saul, "I see a god coming up out of the earth." 14 He said to her, "What does he look like?" She said, "An old man is coming up; he is clothed with a robe." Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground and showed him respect.

15 O homem velho disse: "Por que me perturbas e faze-me subir?". Saul respondeu: "Estou muito angustiado, pois os filisteus guerreiam contra mim. E Deus afastou-se de mim e não mais me responde, nem por profetas, nem por sonhos. Por este motivo, te chamei, para que me faças saber o que devo fazer".

15 Samuel said to Saul, "Why have you disturbed me and brought me up?" Saul answered, "I am very distressed, for the Philistines are waging war against me, and God has left me and does not answer me any more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams. Therefore I have called you, that you may make known to me what I will do."

16 Disse-lhe o homem velho: "Por que me perguntas, uma vez que Yahweh afastou-se de ti, e tornou-se teu inimigo? 17 Fez Yahweh o que disse que faria. Yahweh tem rasgado o reino de tuas mãos e tem entregue a alguém —a Davi.

16 Samuel said, "What then do you ask me, since Yahweh has left you, and he has become your enemy? 17 Yahweh has done to you what he said he would. Yahweh has torn the kingdom out of your hand and he has given it to someone else—to David.

18 Porque não obecedeste à voz de Yahweh e não fizeste o que Ele, no ardor da Sua ira, ordenou contra Amaleque. Assim, Ele te fez isso. 19 Yahweh tirará a Sua mão sobre Israel e a colocará sobre os filisteus. Amanhã, tu e teus filhos estarão comigo. Yahweh entregará o exército de Israel nas mãos dos filisteus".

18 Because you did not obey the voice of Yahweh and did not carry out his fierce wrath on Amalek, he has therefore done this today to you. 19 Yahweh will give Israel along with you into the hand of the Philistines, and tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. Yahweh will also give the army of Israel into the hand of the Philistines."

20 Então, Saul imediatamente prostrou-se no chão e foi tomado de medo ao ouvir essas palavras. Não houve força nele, pois ele não havia comido nenhum alimento o dia inteiro, nem a noite inteira. 21 A mulher foi a Saul e viu que ele ficou muito perturbado; ela lhe disse: "Vê, tua serva ouviu a tua voz e, colocando a minha vida em perigo, fiz o que tuas palavras me disseram.

20 Then Saul immediately fell his full length on the ground and was very afraid because of the words of Samuel. There was no strength in him, for he had eaten no food all that day, neither that whole night. 21 The woman came to Saul and saw that he was very troubled, She said to him, "See, your woman servant has listened to your voice; I have put my life in my hand and have listened to the words that you said to me.

22 Agora, pois, eu te imploro, ouve a voz de uma mulher serva, e deixa-me preparar um pouco de comida para ti. Come para que possas ter força quando fores em teu caminho". 23 Porém, Saul recusou e lhe disse: "Não comerei". No entanto, seus servos, juntos com a mulher, convenceram-no, e ele os ouviu. Então, ele levantou-se do chão e sentou-se na cama.

22 Now therefore, I beg you, listen also to the voice of your woman servant, and let me set a little food in front of you. Eat so that you may gain strength for when you go on your way." 23 But Saul refused and said, "I will not eat." But his servants, together with the woman, compelled him, and he listened to their voice. So he rose from the ground and sat on the bed.

24 A mulher tinha um novilho gordo em casa; ela apressou-se e o matou; tomando a farinha e o fermento, os amassou e cozeu o pão com ele. 25 Ela os trouxe diante de Saul e de seus servos, e eles comeram. Então, eles se levantaram e saíram naquela noite.

24 The woman had a fatted calf in the house; she hurried and killed it; she took flour, kneaded it, and baked unleavened bread with it. 25 She brought it before Saul and his servants, and they ate. Then they got up and left that night.
