1 Agora, ajunta-te em posição de batalha, filha de guerreiros. Os guerreiros montaram um cerco ao redor da cidade, com uma vara eles batem na face do Juiz de Israel. 1 Now come together in battle ranks, daughter of soldiers! A siege has been set up against us! With a rod they strike the judge of Israel on the cheek. 2 Mas tu, Belém Efrata, ainda que sejas pequena entre as famílias de Judá, de ti virá para Mim Aquele que governará em Israel, cuja procedência é desde os tempos antigos, desde a eternidade. 3 Portanto Deus os abandonará até o momento em que aquela que está em trabalho de parto dê à luz um filho, e o restante dos seus irmãos voltem aos filhos de Israel.

2 But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, even though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you one will come to me to rule in Israel, whose beginning is from ancient times, from everlasting. 3 Therefore God will give them up, until the time when she who is in labor bears a child, and the rest of his brothers return to the people of Israel.

4 Ele Se levantará e pastoreará Seu rebanho, na força de Yahweh, na majestade do Nome de Yahweh, seu Deus. 4 He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of Yahweh, in the majesty of the name of Yahweh his God. They will remain, for then he will be great to the ends of the earth. 5 He will give us peace. When the Assyrians come into our land, and when they march against our fortresses, then we will raise against them seven shepherds and eight leaders over men.

6 They will shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in its entrances. However, some modern translations suppose that a different Hebrew word was intended: " with a drawn sword " . ]] He will rescue us from the Assyrians, when they come into our land, when they march inside our borders. 7 The remnant of Jacob will be in the midst of many peoples, like dew from Yahweh, like showers on the grass, that do not wait for a man, and they do not wait for the children of mankind.

8 O remanescente de Jacó estará entre as nações, no meio de muitos povos, como o leão entre os animais da floresta, como um leãozinho entre os rebanhos das ovelhas. Quando ele passar por eles, irá pisá-los e despedaçá-los, e não haverá quem poderá salvá-los. 9 Tua mão estará levantada contra teus inimigos e ela os destruirá.

8 The remnant of Jacob will be among the nations, among many peoples, like a lion among the animals of the forest, like a young lion among the flocks of sheep. When he goes through them, he will trample over them and tear them to pieces, and there will be no one to save them. 9 Your hand will be lifted against your enemies, and it will destroy them.

10 "Acontecerá naquele Dia", diz Yahweh "que destruirei do meio de ti os teus cavalos e demolirei tuas carruagens. 11 Eu destruirei as cidades da tua terra e derrubarei todas as tuas fortalezas.

10 "It will happen in that day"—this is Yahweh's declaration— "that I will destroy your horses from among you and will demolish your chariots. 11 I will destroy the cities in your land and throw down all your strongholds.

12 Eu destruirei a feitiçaria das tuas mãos, e não terás mais advinhos. 13 Eu destruirei tuas imagens esculpidas e tuas colunas sagradas de pedra, que estão no meio de ti. Não mais adorarás as obras de tuas mãos. 14 Eu arrancarei do teu meio os postes de Aserá, e destruirei tuas cidades. 15 Eu executarei vingança com ira e furor sobre as nações que não Me obedeceram".

12 I will destroy the witchcraft in your hand, and you will no longer have any diviners. 13 I will destroy your carved figures and your stone pillars from among you. You will no longer worship the workmanship of your hands. 14 I will uproot your Asherah poles from among you, and I will destroy your cities. 15 I will execute vengeance in anger and wrath on the nations that have not listened."
