1 O povo de Israel, mais uma vez, fez o que era mau aos olhos de Yahweh, e Ele os entregou nas mãos dos filisteus por quarenta anos. 2 Havia um homem de Zorá, do clã dos danitas, cujo nome era Manoá. Sua esposa, como era estéril, nunca havia dado à luz.

1 The people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh, and he gave them into the hand of the Philistines for forty years. 2 There was a man from Zorah, of the clan of the Danites, whose name was Manoah. His wife was barren and so she had not given birth.

3 O Anjo de Yahweh apareceu à mulher e disse-lhe: “Até agora, tu não tens conseguido engravidar e não deste à luz. Porém, tu ficarás grávida e darás à luz um filho. 4 Agora, sê cuidadosa para não beber vinho ou bebida forte, nem comer qualquer coisa impura. 5 Vê, tu ficarás grávida e darás à luz um filho. Nenhuma navalha passará pela cabeça dele, porque o menino será nazireu para Deus, desde o ventre. Ele começará a libertar Israel das mãos dos filisteus.

3 The angel of Yahweh appeared to the woman and said to her, "See now, you have been barren, and you have not given birth, but you will conceive and you will give birth to a son. 4 Now be careful not to drink wine or strong drink, and do not eat anything unclean. 5 Look, you will become pregnant and give birth to a son. No razor will be used upon his head, for the boy will be a Nazirite to God from the womb, and he will begin to deliver Israel from the hand of the Philistines."

6 Então, a mulher veio e disse ao seu marido: "Um homem de Deus veio até mim, e sua aparência era como de um anjo de Deus, e ele me causou muito medo. Eu não perguntei de onde veio e ele não me disse o seu nome. 7 Ele me disse: 'Vê! Tu ficarás grávida e darás à luz um filho. Então, não bebas vinho nem bebida forte, e não comas nenhuma comida que a Lei declara como impura, porque a criança será um nazireu de Deus, desde o tempo em que estiver no teu ventre até o dia da sua morte'''.

6 Then the woman came and told her husband, "A man of God came to me, and his appearance was like that of an angel of God, very terrible. I did not ask him where he came from, and he did not tell me his name. 7 He said to me, 'Look! You will become pregnant, and you will give birth to a son. So then drink no wine or strong drink, and do not eat any food that the law declares to be unclean, because the boy will be a Nazirite to God from the time he is in your womb until the day of his death.'"

8 Então, Manoá orou a Yahweh e disse: "Ó, Senhor, por favor, faze com que o homem de Deus que Tu enviaste venha outra vez a nós e que ele nos ensine o que devemos fazer à criança que vai nascer". 9 Deus ouviu a oração de Manoá, e o Anjo de Deus veio novamente até a mulher quando ela estava sentada no campo. Mas Manoá, seu marido, não estava com ela.

8 Then Manoah prayed to Yahweh and said, "Oh, Lord, please let the man of God you sent come again to us so that he may teach us what we are to do for the child who soon will be born." 9 God listened to the voice of Manoah, and the angel of God came to the woman again when she was sitting in the field. But Manoah her husband was not with her.

10 A mulher correu rapidamente e disse ao seu marido: "Olha! O homem apareceu a mim, aquele que veio a mim outro dia!". 11 Manoá se levantou e seguiu sua esposa. Quando ele chegou até o homem, disse: "És tu o homem que falou com a minha esposa?”. O homem disse: "Sou eu".

10 So the woman ran quickly and told her husband, "Look! The man has appeared to me—the one who came to me the other day!" 11 Manoah got up and followed his wife. When he came to the man, he said, "Are you the man who spoke with my wife?" The man said, "I am."

12 Então, Manoá disse: "Que as tuas palavras se tornem verdade; mas quais serão a regras para a criança, e qual será seu trabalho?". 13 O Anjo de Yahweh disse a Manoá: "Ela precisa fazer cuidadosamente tudo o que lhe disse. 14 Ela não poderá comer nada que venha da vinha e não poderá beber vinho ou bebida forte; não poderá comer nenhuma comida que a lei declara como impura. Ela deve obedecer tudo o que lhe ordenei para fazer".

12 So Manoah said, "Now may your words come true. What will be the rules for the child, and what will be his work?" 13 The angel of Yahweh said to Manoah, "She must carefully do everything that I said to her. 14 She may not eat anything that comes from the vines, and do not let her drink wine or strong drink or eat anything unclean. She must obey everything I have commanded her to do."

15 Manoá disse ao Anjo de Yahweh: "Por favor, fica mais um pouco, para nos dar tempo para te preparar um cabrito". 16 O Anjo de Yahweh disse a Manoá: "Mesmo que Eu fique, não comerei da vossa comida, mas se tu preparares um holocausto, consagra-o para Yahweh". Manoá não sabia que era o Anjo de Yahweh.

15 Manoah said to the angel of Yahweh, "Please stay for a while, to give us time to prepare a young goat for you." 16 The angel of Yahweh said to Manoah, "Even if I stay, I will not eat your food. But if you prepare a burnt offering, offer it to Yahweh." (Manoah did not know that he was the angel of Yahweh.)

17 Manoá disse ao Anjo de Yahweh: "Qual é o teu nome, para que te honremos quando a tua palavra se cumprir?”. 18 O Anjo de Yahweh lhe disse: "Por que perguntas o Meu nome? Ele é maravilhoso!".

17 Manoah said to the angel of Yahweh, "What is your name, so we may honor you when your words come true?" 18 The angel of Yahweh said to him, "Why do you ask my name? It is wonderful!"

19 Então, Manoá pegou o cabrito com a oferta de cereal e ofereceu-os em cima da pedra a Yahweh. Ele fez algo maravilhoso enquanto Manoá e sua esposa estavam observando. 20 Quando a chama subiu do altar em direção ao céu, o Anjo de Yahweh subiu na chama do altar. Manoá e sua esposa viram isso e se prostraram com seus rostos em terra.

19 So Manoah took the young goat with the grain offering and offered them on the rock to Yahweh. He did something marvelous while Manoah and his wife were watching. 20 When the flame went up from the altar toward the sky, the angel of Yahweh went up in the flame of the altar. Manoah and his wife saw this and lay facedown on the ground.

21 O Anjo de Yahweh não apareceu mais a Manoá nem à sua esposa. Então, Manoá soube que ele era o Anjo de Yahweh. 22 Manoá disse à sua esposa: "Certamente morreremos, porque vimos a Deus".

21 The angel of Yahweh did not appear again to Manoah or his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was the angel of Yahweh. 22 Manoah said to his wife, "We are sure to die, because we have seen God!"

23 Mas sua esposa lhe disse: "Se Yahweh quisesse nos matar, Ele não teria recebido o holocausto e a oferta de cereais que nós Lhe demos. Ele não teria nos mostrado todas essas coisas, nem nos teria feito ouvir tais coisas neste tempo".

23 But his wife said to him, "If Yahweh wanted to kill us, he would not have received the burnt offering and the grain offering we gave him. He would not have shown us all these things, nor at this time would he have let us hear such things."

24 Algum tempo depois, a mulher deu à luz um menino, e chamou-lhe Sansão. O menino cresceu, e Yahweh o abençoou. 25 O Espírito de Yahweh começou a movê-lo em Maané-Dã, entre Zorá e Estaol.

24 Later the woman gave birth to a son, and called his name Samson. The boy grew up and Yahweh blessed him. 25 Yahweh's Spirit began to stir him in Mahaneh Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.
