1 Após Abimeleque, Tolá, filho de Puá, filho de Dodô, um homem de Issacar, que habitava em Samir, na região montanhosa de Efraim, levantou-se para libertar Israel. 2 Julgou Israel durante vinte e três anos, morreu e foi sepultado em Samir.

1 After Abimelek, Tola son of Puah son of Dodo, a man from Issachar who lived in Shamir, in the hill country of Ephraim, arose to deliver Israel. 2 He judged Israel twenty-three years. He died and was buried in Shamir.

3 Ele foi sucedido por Jair, o gileadita, que julgou Israel durante vinte e dois anos. 4 Este tinha trinta filhos, que cavalgavam em trinta jumentos, e possuíam trinta cidades na terra de Gileade, as quais até hoje são chamadas cidades de Jair. 5 Jair morreu e foi enterrado em Camom.

3 He was followed by Jair the Gileadite. He judged Israel twenty-two years. 4 He had thirty sons who rode on thirty donkeys, and they had thirty cities, which are called Havvoth Jair to this day, which are in the land of Gilead. 5 Jair died and was buried in Kamon.

6 Mais uma vez, os israelitas fizeram o que era mau aos olhos de Yahweh, e adoraram os baalins, Astarote, os deuses da Síria, os deuses de Sidom, os deuses de Moabe, os deuses do povo de Amom e os deuses dos filisteus. Abandonaram Yahweh e não mais O adoraram. 7 A ira de Yahweh se acendeu contra Israel, e Ele os entregou nas mãos dos filisteus e dos amonitas.

6 The people of Israel added to the evil they had done in the sight of Yahweh and worshiped the Baals, the Ashtoreths, the gods of Aram, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the people of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines. They abandoned Yahweh and no longer worshiped him. 7 Yahweh burned with anger toward Israel, and he sold them into the hand of the Philistines and into the hand of the Ammonites.

8 Eles arrasaram e oprimiram o povo de Israel naquele ano. Durante dezoito anos, oprimiram todo o povo de Israel que estava além do Jordão, na terra dos amorreus, em Gileade. 9 Os amonitas atravessaram o Jordão para lutar contra Judá, contra Benjamim e contra a casa de Efraim, de maneira que Israel estava em grande desolação.

8 They crushed and oppressed the people of Israel that year, and for eighteen years they oppressed all the people of Israel who were beyond the Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead. 9 Then the Ammonites crossed over the Jordan to fight against Judah, against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim, so that Israel was greatly distressed.

10 Então, o povo de Israel clamou a Yahweh, dizendo: "Pecamos contra Ti, pois abandonamos o nosso Deus e adoramos os baalins". 11 Yahweh disse ao povo de Israel: "Não vos livrei dos egípcios, dos amorreus, dos amonitas, dos filisteus, 12 e também dos sidônios? Quando os amalequitas e os maonitas vos oprimiram, clamastes a Mim, e vos livrei do poder deles.

10 Then the people of Israel called out to Yahweh, saying, "We have sinned against you, because we abandoned our God and worshiped the Baals." 11 Yahweh said to the people of Israel, "Did I not deliver you from the Egyptians, the Amorites, the Ammonites, the Philistines, 12 and also from the Sidonians? The Amalekites and the Maonites oppressed you; you called out to me, and I delivered you from their power.

13 Porém, novamente Me abandonastes e adorastes outros deuses. Portanto, não vos livrarei mais. 14 Ide e clamai aos deuses que tendes adorado. Que eles vos salvem quando estiverdes em perigo".

13 Yet you abandoned me again and worshiped other gods. Therefore, I will not keep adding to the times I deliver you. 14 Go and call out to the gods that you have worshiped. Let them rescue you when you have trouble."

15 Os israelitas disseram a Yahweh: "Nós pecamos. Faze o que Te parecer melhor. Somente suplicamos que nos resgates hoje". 16 Eles se livraram dos deuses estrangeiros que possuíam e adoraram a Yahweh, e Ele não mais suportou a miséria de Israel.

15 The people of Israel said to Yahweh, "We have sinned. Do to us whatever seems good to you. Only please, rescue us this day." 16 They got rid of the foreign gods among them and they worshiped Yahweh. Then Yahweh could bear Israel's misery no longer.

17 Então, os amonitas reuniram-se e acamparam em Gileade. Os israelitas ajuntaram-se e acamparam em Mispá. 18 Os líderes do povo de Gileade disseram uns aos outros: "Quem será o homem que começará a lutar contra os amonitas? Ele se tornará o líder sobre todos os que vivem em Gileade".

17 Then the Ammonites were summoned and set up camp in Gilead. The Israelites came together and set up their camp at Mizpah. 18 The leaders of the people of Gilead said one to another, "Who is the man who will begin to fight the Ammonites? He will become the leader over all those who are living in Gilead."
