1 Então, deixando o que primeiramente aprendemos acerca da Palavra de Cristo, devemos prosseguir para maturidade. Não lançando, outra vez, o fundamento do arrependimento das obras mortas e da fé em Deus, 2 nem o fundamento do ensino sobre batismos, imposição de mãos, a ressurreição dos mortos e o juízo eterno. 3 Nós também faremos essas coisas, se Deus permitir.

1 So then, let us leave the beginning of the message of Christ and move forward to maturity. Let us not lay again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith in God, 2 nor the foundation of teaching about baptisms, laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. 3 We will also do this if God permits.

4 Por isso, é impossível para aqueles que uma vez foram iluminados, que provaram do dom celestial, se tornaram participantes do Espírito Santo, 5 provaram da boa palavra de Deus, dos poderes dos tempos vindouros 6 e que depois caíram; é impossível restaurá-los novamente para o arrependimento. Isto porque crucificaram para si mesmos, outra vez, o próprio Filho de Deus, fazendo Dele um objeto de vergonha pública.

4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, who tasted the heavenly gift, who were sharers of the Holy Spirit, 5 and who tasted God's good word and the powers of the age to come, 6 but who then fell away—it is impossible to restore them again to repentance. This is because they crucify the Son of God for themselves again, and publicly shame him.

7 Porque a terra que absorve a chuva que cai e que produz colheita útil para aqueles que nela trabalham, recebe a bênção de Deus. 8 Mas se produz espinhos e abrolhos, é inútil e está perto de ser amaldiçoada. Seu fim é ser queimada.

7 For the land that drinks in the rain that often comes on it, and that gives birth to the plants useful to those for whom the land was worked—this is the land that receives a blessing from God. 8 But if it bears thorns and thistles, it is worthless and is near to a curse. Its end is in burning.

9 Mas nós estamos convencidos de coisas melhores acerca de vós, amados, coisas concernentes à salvação, ainda que falemos dessa forma. 10 Pois Deus não é injusto para esquecer o vosso trabalho e o amor que vós demonstrastes pelo Seu nome, no qual vós servistes aos santos e continuastes a fazê-lo.

9 But we are convinced about better things concerning you, beloved ones, things that concern salvation, even though we speak like this. 10 For God is not unjust. He will not forget your work and the love you showed for his name, because you served his holy people, and you are still serving them.

11 E desejamos grandemente que cada um de vós mostreis o mesmo zelo até o fim, com completa certeza da esperança. 12 Não vos torneis preguiçosos, mas imitadores dos que, por meio da fé e paciência, herdam as promessas.

11 We greatly desire that each of you may show the same diligence to the end, in order to make your hope certain. 12 This is so that you will not become lazy, but imitators of those who by faith and patience inherit the promises.

13 Porque quando Deus fez a Sua promessa para Abraão, por não ter ninguém maior do que Ele por quem jurar, jurou por Si mesmo. 14 Ele disse: "Eu certamente te abençoarei e te multiplicarei grandemente". 15 Dessa forma, Abraão obteve o que lhe foi prometido após ter esperado pacientemente.

13 For when God made his promise to Abraham, he swore by himself, since he could not swear by anyone greater. 14 He said, "I will certainly bless you and grow your numbers." 15 In this way, Abraham obtained what was promised after he had patiently waited.

16 Pois as pessoas juram por alguém maior do que elas e em todas as suas disputas, os seus juramentos são uma confirmação. 17 Quando Deus decidiu mostrar, mais claramente, para os herdeiros da promessa a qualidade imutável do seu propósito, Ele o garantiu com um juramento. 18 Ele o fez por meio de duas coisas imutáveis, nas quais é impossível que Deus minta; para que nós, que saímos em busca de refúgio, pudéssemos ter forte encorajamento para apegar-nos firmemente na esperança que nos foi proposta.

16 For people swear by someone greater than themselves. At the end of each of their disputes, an oath serves as confirmation. 17 When God decided to show more clearly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable quality of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath. 18 He did this so that by two unchangeable things—with which it is impossible for God to lie—we, who have fled for refuge, will have a strong encouragement to hold firmly to the hope set before us.

19 A qual temos como âncora segura e firme de nossas almas e que penetra além do véu, 20 onde Jesus, como nosso precursor, entrou em nosso lugar, tornando-se Sumo Sacerdote para sempre, segundo a ordem de Melquisedeque.

19 We have this as a secure and reliable anchor for the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, 20 where Jesus, who went before us, has entered into that place on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.
