1 Há muito tempo, Deus falou aos nossos antepassados por meio de profetas, por muitas vezes e de várias formas. 2 Mas, nestes últimos dias, Ele nos falou por meio do Filho, a quem constituiu como herdeiro de todas as coisas e por intermédio de quem também criou o universo. 3 Ele é o resplendor da glória de Deus, a verdadeira expressão de Sua essência. Ele tudo sustenta pela palavra do Seu poder. Depois de ter realizado a purificação dos pecados, Ele sentou-se no Céu à direita da Majestade,

1 Long ago God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in many ways. 2 But in these last days, he has spoken to us through a Son, whom he appointed to be the heir of all things. It is through him that God also made the universe. 3 He is the brightness of God's glory, the exact representation of his being. He even holds everything together by the word of his power. After he had made cleansing for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

4 tornou-se tão superior aos anjos que herdou um nome mais excelente do que o deles. 5 De fato, para qual dos anjos disse Deus: "Tu és meu filho; Eu hoje te gerei"? E, ainda: "Eu lhe serei Pai, e Ele me será Filho"?

4 He has become just as superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than their name. 5 For to which of the angels did God ever say, "You are my Son, today I have become your Father"? Or to which of the angels did God ever say, "I will be a Father to him, and he will be a Son to me"?

6 Porém, quando Deus enviou ao mundo Seu Primogênito, Ele diz: "Todos os anjos de Deus devem adorá-Lo". 7 Ainda em relação aos anjos, Deus declara: "É Ele quem faz de Seus anjos ventos e de Seus ministros chamas de fogo".

6 But again, when God brings the firstborn into the world, he says, "All God's angels must worship him." 7 About the angels he says, "He is the one who makes his angels spirits, and his servants flames of fire."

8 Mas, em relação ao Filho, diz: "Teu trono, Deus, permanece para todo o sempre; e o cetro de Teu Reino é o cetro de justiça. 9 Amaste a justiça e odiaste a injustiça; portanto, Deus, o Teu Deus, Te ungiu com o óleo de alegria, mais que a Teus companheiros.

8 But to the Son he says, "Your throne, God, is forever and ever. The scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom. 9 You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of joy more than your companions."

10 No princípio, ó Senhor, Tu estabeleceste a fundação da terra; os céus são obras de Tuas mãos. 11 Eles perecerão, mas Tu permaneces. Eles se gastarão como roupas. 12 Tu os enrolarás como um manto e como roupas os mudarás. Mas Tu és o mesmo, e Teus anos não terão fim".

10 "In the beginning, Lord, you laid the earth's foundation. The heavens are the work of your hands. 11 They will perish, but you will continue. They will all wear out like a piece of clothing. 12 You will roll them up like a cloak, and they will be changed like a piece of clothing. But you are the same, and your years do not end."

13 Mas para quais dos anjos Deus, porventura, em algum momento, disse: "Senta-te à minha direita, até que eu faça de teus inimigos um estrado para os teus pés" ? 14 Não são todos os anjos espíritos ministradores enviados para cuidar daqueles que herdarão a salvação?

13 But to which of the angels has God said at any time, "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet"? 14 Are not all angels spirits who serve, and who are sent to care for those who will inherit salvation?
