1 Quando Yahweh, vosso Deus, remover as nações, daqueles cuja terra Yahweh, vosso Deus, está vos dando, e quando vierdes atrás delas e morardes em suas cidades e casas, 2 selecionarei três cidades para vós no meio da terra que Yahweh, vosso Deus, está dando para possuirdes. 3 Construirei uma estrada e dividir as fronteiras de vossa terra em três partes, a terra que Yahweh, vosso Deus, vos fará possuir, para que qualquer um que mate outra pessoa possa refugiar-se nela.

1 When Yahweh your God cuts off the nations, those whose land Yahweh your God is giving you, and when you come after them and live in their cities and houses, 2 you must select three cities for yourself in the middle of your land that Yahweh your God is giving you to possess. 3 You must build a road and divide the borders of your land into three parts, the land that Yahweh your God is causing you to inherit, so that everyone who kills another person may flee there.

4 Esta é a lei para aquele que comete homicídio e que se refugia nela para viver: qualquer que mate involuntariamente seu vizinho, sem previamente odiá-lo, 5 como quando um homem vai para a floresta com seu vizinho para cortar madeira, e sua mão dá um golpe com o machado para cortar a árvore, e a cabeça de ferro escapa do cabo e acerta o vizinho e ele morre, então, aquele homem deve refugiar-se em uma dessas cidades e viver nela.

4 This is the instruction concerning the one who kills another and flees from there in order to save his own life—the one who unintentionally kills his neighbor without hating him at the time of the accident. 5 For example, if a man goes into the forest with his neighbor to cut wood, and he chops with the ax to cut down a tree, and the ax head slips off of the handle and strikes his neighbor and kills him—then that man must flee to one of these cities and save his life.

6 Do contrário, o vingador do sangue pode ir atrás daquele que tirou a vida e, no calor da sua raiva, o alcançar, se o caminho for muito longo, o atacar e matar, ainda que o homem não mereça morrer, já que ele não odiava o seu vizinho anteriormente. 7 Por isso, eu ordeno que vós selecioneis três cidades para vós.

6 Otherwise the avenger of blood might go after the one who took a life, and in the heat of his anger overtake him, if the distance is too great, strike him and kill him, even though that man did not deserve to die, since he had not hated his neighbor in the past. 7 Therefore I command you to select three cities for yourself.

8 Se Yahweh, vosso Deus, ampliar as fronteiras da vossa terra, como Ele jurou aos vossos antepassados, e dar-vos toda a terra que Ele prometeu dar aos vossos antepassados; 9 se vós guardardes todos esses mandamentos para cumpri-los, os quais vos estou ordenando hoje, mandamentos para amar Yahweh, vosso Deus, e andar em Seus caminhos, então, vós adicionarei mais três cidades para vós, além daquelas três. 10 Fazei isto para que o sangue inocente não seja derramado no meio da terra que Yahweh, vosso Deus, vos dá como herança, para que não haja culpa de sangue sobre vós.

8 If Yahweh your God enlarges your borders, as he has sworn to your ancestors to do, and gives you all the land that he promised to give to your ancestors; 9 if you keep all these commandments to do them, which I am commanding you today—commandments to love Yahweh your God and to always walk in his ways, then you must add three more cities for yourself, besides these three. 10 Do this so that innocent blood is not shed in the midst of the land that Yahweh your God is giving you for as an inheritance, so that no bloodguilt may be on you.

11 Mas, se alguém odeia o seu vizinho, armar-lhe uma cilada, levantar-se contra ele e, mortalmente, o ferir e matar, se este fugir para uma dessas cidades, 12 então, os anciãos da cidade deverão enviá-lo e devolvê-lo de lá, e, entregá-lo nas mãos do parente responsável, para que ele morra. 13 Não o olharás com piedade. Ao invés disso, tirarás de Israel a culpa do sangue inocente, para que te vá bem.

11 But if anyone hates his neighbor, lies in wait for him, rises up against him, and mortally wounds him so that he dies, and if he then flees into one of these cities— 12 then the elders of his city must send and bring him back from there, and turn him over to the hand of the avenger of blood, so that he may die. 13 Your eye must not pity him; instead, you must eradicate the bloodguilt from Israel, that it may go well with you.

14 Não removereis os marcos de vossos vizinhos, que eles colocaram há muito tempo, na herança que vós recebereis, na terra que Yahweh, vosso Deus, vos dá como posse.

14 You must not remove your neighbor's landmark that they set in place a long time ago, in your inheritance that you will inherit, in the land that Yahweh your God is giving you to possess.

15 Uma testemunha não se levantará sozinha contra um homem, por qualquer iniquidade, nem por qualquer pecado, em nenhuma questão que ele peque. Qualquer questão será confirmada pela boca de duas testemunhas, ou pela boca de três testemunhas. 16 Suponhais que uma falsa testemunha se levante contra qualquer homem para testificar uma injustiça contra ele.

15 One sole witness must not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any matter that he sins; at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, must any matter be confirmed. 16 Suppose that an unrighteous witness rises up against any man to testify against him of wrongdoing.

17 Então, ambos os homens, aqueles entre os quais existe a controvérsia, colocar-se-ão diante de Yahweh, diante dos sacerdotes e dos juízes que os servem naqueles dias. 18 Os juízes farão uma investigação cuidadosa. Se a testemunha for falsa e testificar falsamente contra seu irmão, 19 então, farei a ela o que ela desejava fazer ao seu irmão. Desse modo, removereis o mal do meio de vós.

17 Then both men, the ones between whom the controversy exists, must stand before Yahweh, before the priests and the judges who serve in those days. 18 The judges must make diligent inquiries; see, if the witness is a false witness and has testified falsely against his brother, 19 then must you do to him, as he had wished to do to his brother; and you will remove the evil from among you.

20 Então, aqueles que permanecerem escutarão e temerão. Não cometerão semelhante mal entre vós novamente. 21 Não olharás com piedade; vida pagará por vida, olho por olho, dente por dente, mão por mão, pé por pé.

20 Then those who remain will hear and fear, and will from then on commit no longer any such evil among you. 21 Your eyes must not pity; life will pay for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
